Richard looked around the room, slight worry on his face as no one had any questions. Shrugging his shoulders, he decided to move on. "Ok, you have twenty minutes to get through the first chapter." He walked to his desk and grabbed a box. Then, walking around the room, he placed a packet of sticky notes on each table. "I don't want the books marked, cause they take it out of my pay to replace them, so use the sticky notes to mark down points that you find important and stick them to the relevant page."
He walked back to the front of the room and pushed the box back under his desk. "If you finish the chapter before the time is up, please don't be a pain to your friends and just sit quietly, writing notes, doodling. I don't care what you do, as long as you aren't defacing school property, just keep quiet. When the time is up, you can talk as much as you want about the book, as long as you are respectful to the rest of your peers." He sat back down behind his desk, letting the students know they could start reading.

Chris slipped inside the classroom several minutes after the bell rang and gave the teacher at the desk a lazy grin, "Sorry I'm late. Chris Saito, new here." He said, not sounding sorry at all, which he actually was not. Chris was not the type who really cared much about school, he skimmed by with 'C' averages... though he did care a lot about horses and the equine courses he was taking, and the extra-curricular classes, as he had chose to take them. The boy took a moment to glance around the full classroom, searching for a seat. He finally located one in the far back and headed to it, sitting down and picking the book up, assuming that it was their assignment.
Chris rolled his eyes, mentally groaning. If there was one thing he detested, it was reading and writing about what he was reading... Book reports... He chanced a glance around the classroom again, noticing that the other students were already immersed in their books, and slowly opened his to the first page, setting himself up for the, in his opinion, boring read. He just did not enjoy reading, but his dad had insisted he take the class and pass...

Ashleigh was running late, but it wasn't her fault, she had gotten horribly lost... She knew her brother took the same english class she was, so when she spotted him in the hallway, the grl simply decided to follow him, as he had to attend the class, she knew. Their dad had insisted, fought it over, and won.
Ash slipped inside right behind her brother and gave the teacher an apologetic look when Chris simply seemed to blow his lateness off. She moved up to the teacher and grinned nervously, tucking a strand of hair behind an ear and tugging at her dark red sweatshirt. "I'm sorry I'm so late, sir." She said, "I got lost. This is mine and my brothe's first day here. I'm Ashleigh Saito."
The girl glanced around the classroom, seeing where her brother was sitting and her eyes lit up as she spotted her rommate ad friend, Cortney. She moved to sit in the des behind the girl and grinned as she sat down and rummaged around in her bag for a pencil and pull the sticky-notes close to her before looking at the board and then down to her book. "Hey Cort!" she whispered before falling silent to do the assignment. Ashleigh chanced a glance back to her brother and hid a smile with her hand upon seeing his disgusted look. He hates reading and writing...
She turned back around in her desk and opened her book, starting the first chapter while taking small notes on the sticky-pad as she read, flying through her work. Unlike Chris, Ashleigh was a straight 'A' student.

Zeke got up once he heard the breakfast bell ring. Now it was time for him to head toward his first class of the day. He had a map of the school but his dog had ate it so now he was pretty much lost and asking whoever he saw for directions. He even asked a girl if she had a map though it was obvious so knew the school well and did not carry one around with him so he had to read the manes on each door until he found his right class. It wasn't easy and he was getting tired of walking around in like an idiot looking for his right class. He saw a girl rushing down the hall and decided to follow her hoping she would go to his class class but what were the odds of that? Luckily for him she led him straight to his English class.
He walked into the class pretty late and threw the teacher an apologetic look before walking up to his desk. "Sorry I'm late I got lost, I'm Zeke Warrick, I am new here." He said, he had a really strong French accent. He was wearing a white button down shirt with a red and black striped tie and white jeans. He turned away and to sit down be the girl he had followed in. He didn't even open the book before writing stuff down about the first chapter having already read it.

Cortney had taken notes as Mr Stone talked about the set-up of a novel. She looked at the book they would be reading and hoped that it was going to be better than it looked. Don't judge a book by it's cover. She heard Myraim's voice in her head. Deciding whether to read a book or not, for Cort, had always been done by looking at the cover. If she didn't like the cover, she didn't read it - unless of course, Myriam had already read it and said that it was well worth reading no matter how horrid the cover looked.
She had just opened the book when she heard people enter the room. She hated having attention drawn to herself, so she didn't look up at stare. However, she did look up when she heard a familiar voice. Turning in her chair, she grinned at Ashleigh. "Hey Ash." She whispered. She quickly turned back to the front before she got herself or her new friend in trouble and continued reading, taking down notes that she thought were relevant, leaving the sticky notes sticking out of the page she had taken the notes from.

Leo looked up at Mr. Stone, giving the man his full quiet attention. He liked to respect his teachers, mainly due to the way he had been brought up. Something about his personality had a play in it too. Either way, the brunette was not a trouble maker by any means. He knew his little sister wasn’t one either despite her need to make trouble for everyone. She was only one because of all the crap she had been through and then she had put Leo through crap. The boy quickly stopped the family thoughts from escalating before focusing back on the teacher again.
Leo noted the ‘no writing in the book’ in his head, finding that easy to do. He didn’t enjoy having any type of loose scribbles around the books he read due to the fact he found them distracting and messy. Being a typically organized person, the boy felt relieved as the man passed out the beloved sticky notes. Leo shot back to a time in fifth grade when the whole school was obsessed with making origami in class with those things. He smiled softly to himself before thanking the teacher for the notes. Leo quickly got into the book, due to the fact he was indeed a slow reader and knew it.
He read the first page in a very sad time, taking all of the words in thoughtfully. Unlike others, Leo liked to take his time with books and pick out all the details. He really couldn’t understand the books if he gobbled them up. While it made good for short term stuff, Leo had a feeling he would need to remember the contents in the book for the class. If he had been reading for his own thing, the boy supposed he would’ve gone faster. After about five minutes, the first three pages had a few stickies peeking out and Leo was a quarter done.

Rose was quite glad to hear the teacher explain that they'd be reading in class. She was quite content reading on her own, and dreaded the thought of having to read along with the class. Twenty minutes was enough time for her, based on what she'd found flipping through the book, and reading in class was sure to calm her down a bit. She was also quite relieved when the teacher explained that there would be no writing in the books, and immediately thought more highly of him. She treated all of her books with utmost respect, and the only time she ever wrote in her books was if she liked a book enough to buy a second copy specifically for her own annotations. She took the sticky notes graciously, smiling in thanks. In eighth grade, she'd used sticky notes for her annotations in To Kill a Mockingbird, and by the time she'd finished, the book was three times as thick.
She began reading right away, moving at a moderate pace. She wasn't rushing, as she didn't want to miss any important details, but at the same time, she didn't want to get too caught up and have to rush to finish. She found herself placing quite a few sticky notes in the book, putting them so only a colored edge would show when the booked was closed. She wrote on them in her pretty, slanted script, including the page number at the bottom right corner of each note. When studying, she liked to take the notes out and put them on a piece of paper, so this would allow for her to put them in order and then put them back in the book as needed.

Kate was already late for her first academic class at Blue Ridge. It seemed a horrible start, and she really did want to make a stunning first impression. Unfortunately, this was not the way to do so. Kate did fine in her classes back at home. The trouble was that she just got so bored with them. She wasn't too worried about this class, as she liked reading, but hoped that they would at least get to read a bit in class and discuss, rather than just writing what they noticed.
When she finally got to the door, she opened it slowly, darting in and walking quickly up to the teacher to murmur I'm sorry I'm late, sir, and find an open desk. She quickly coped down the notes on the board in a summarized form, promising herself that she'd get better notes from a classmate later, and then opened the book to begin reading, just like the rest of the class was doing. She she'd walked in, she'd just caught the teacher's instructions, and began to read the first chapter, sticky notes close by. She jotted her annotations on the sticky notes dutifully, sticking them into the book so that they'd stick out of the top part.
