Rose looked up in surprise when Cara commented on how she used the pencils belonging to the teacher. She responded quietly, I try not to. But this project is not worth my good pencils, and I'll sanitize thoroughly later." She watched at the girl took the plate and nodded when she changed the third section. When Cara claimed the fruit and vegetables section for herself, Rose pressed her lips together. She'd have to choose between the Grains, or the Dairy, Sugars, and Meat. The thought of illustrating meat and fatty foods made her stomach churn, so she quickly noted, I'll draw the grains" She wasn't thrilled about doing those either, but it was better than the other option.
Rose took the plate when Cara had finished her section and quickly looked over the work. It was very good, and frankly, Rose was impressed. She first labeled the lip Grain Products in blue pen to match Cara's section, and then took a pencil and started to sketch out various grain products: a loaf of bread, some potatoes, a plate of pasta, a bowl of rice, some crackers and a box of cereal. Once she'd sketched them out, she darkened the lines in pen and shaded with the pencil a bit before lightly shading colors in with the colored pencils. She had to mix a few colors due to the lack of variety of brown and beige in the school's pencils, but it came out looking rather nice.
Looking up, she saw that a girl had joined them while she'd been very intently drawing. Blushing, she greeted her, "Hello, I'm Rose." She nodded towards the plate, "Cara and I completed the Produce and Grains sections. You're welcome to do the last third, which is actually three sections..." she trailed off, realizing that the girl probably had already known this, and she shouldn't explain further. Looking down at her hands, she folded them together, twisting her knuckles between her fingers.
