Lukas watched the girls as they attempted the 'challenge'. He stepped back a few steps to keep them both in his sights and had to grin at their attempts. At least they were trying. He liked a person who actually tried what he asked.
"Alright, it looks like both of you have some issues with balance. Don't worry, it's not that uncommon." He said, striding towards Miss McCord and stopping at her horses head. "Your mare is struggling to understand why you're mounting up from the 'wrong' side." He told her, "Don't rush it. This isn't something you can really do perfectly in one session. Take things slow and easy and keep talking to your mare to keep her calm and relaxed. If she moves go with her, but don't try to force her to stop. Let her do it on her own. Try it again, and remember, patience is the key."
Lukas stepped back a few steps to watch the girl, hoping she'd take his advice. He glanced towards February, catching the other girls eye, and gave her a smile. "I'll be with you in just a moment." He called before turning his attention back to the student he was currently helping. "You'll want to work on come exercises to strengthen the muscles in the legs, though, and eventually you'll have it down." The instructor did raise his voice slightly so that February would know he was speaking to her now, though he was still helping Bronwyn.
"It looks like you have the mounting part down pretty well, February, but you're having the same problems as Miss McCord over here with balancing as you dismount." He said to the girl. "Remember, patience is the key here. Once you get those muscles built up, you can start working on dismounting and mounting at a faster speed. Go slow and think about it as you dismount. If you aren't sure of your abilities to stay on your feet, just jump on down once you're over the side of the saddle. The reason you're off balance is because you're not used to using the muscles in that leg to hold your weight as you dismount. It's just something you've got to work at and train yourself to."
After helping Bronwyn, Lukas headed towards February and her mare, letting the mare get his scent before he lightly gripped the reins just below the bit to help steady the horse when the girl dismounted.
