----------------------------------------- "We are not always Perfect." ----------------------------------------- The brown haired seventeen year old sat on her bed as her English Springer Spaniel, Layla, was playing around with her ball in the dorm. She sighed as she thought about a place to go. She hasn't explored down town Blue Ridge. She heard of the beautiful Reserve just outside of town. She wondered about the place as it raced through her mind. She then finally decided to go, and maybe take Layla on a walk while she was at it. She stood up from sitting on the bed and the puppy was already having a leash in her mouth and pawing her leg. She grinned and took the leash. "Just let me change before we head out to the Reserve, okay?" She told the puppy as she went to her closet to decide on what to wear for today.
After just deciding to just throw something on. She put on the earrings she picked out and decided to leave her hair the way it was. Not tied into a ponytail or anything. She grabbed her bag and stuffed her phone, dorm keys, and a old tie favorite horse book. 'King of The Wind'. She grinned as she grabbed the matching black leash and clipped it to Layla's collar. She opened the door wide enough for Layla and herself to get through before shutting it behind her.
She walked Layla through town and spotted the Blue Ridge Reserve. They were right about the Reserve being a beautiful place to relax. She grinned, satisfied with herself as she lead Layla towards the creek at the Reserve. She sat down under the shade of a tree as she let Layla explore around the creek. She shuffled through her bag and grabbed the book she brought. She opened it up to the first chapter and started to read, as she still kept an eye on Layla.

Oliver knelt on the floor of his dorm room with Athena sitting on the ground in front of him, her front right paw in his hands as he carefully checked the pad for any tenderness. The young dog was getting cabin fever, due to her not wanting to leave the room any more than she had to, and the boy wanted to take her for a well deserved walk.
"Come on, Princess." He whispered as he rose to his feet and clipped the blue and brown collar around the dog's neck put the harness over her back, clipping under her belly and then clipping the matching lead onto the collar and threading it through the loop of the harness. He knew that he didn't need the harness, but it seemed to make people feel safer is it looked as though he had complete control over the young dog, due to her breed.
Leaving their room, it only took a little encouragement to get the canine to leave the safety of the grounds around the House, and they made their way off the campus grounds and down toward town. He ignored a few looks they got from the town's folk as he walked down the street with Athena, as many of them thought she also should have a muzzle on, but he wasn't going to disrespect her enough to do that to her.
Entering the reserve, he slipped the lead out of the harness loop and let her walk ahead of him while he looked around. "Away you go, Love." He whispered as he removed the lead all together and pitched the tennis ball that he was holding and grinned as the canine bounded off after the flying ball. He clapped his hands as Athena launched herself into the air and caught the ball as it made it's decent before she bounded back to her owner and dropped the ball at his feet.
"Good girl." He praised as he scratched her behind the ears before picking the ball up again and pitching it once more, this time in the direction of some trees. The boy knew that he should have signed up for the baseball team, as he could pitch along with the best of them, but he just couldn't be bothered. "Athena?" He called as he lost sight of his companion.
He broke into a jog toward the trees, fearing the worst of what could have happened to the canine, as he knew not many people had very good opinions of the Rottie breed. He slowed down when he caught sight of her lying under a tree, staring intently at another young dog not too far away. It may surprise people, but the large dog was cautious of approaching other dogs. This could be due to her not being socialised well as a young puppy, but she was never aggressive.

----------------------------------------- "We are not always Perfect." ----------------------------------------- Aspen got through at least three pages of the book. She was known for reading books on a steady pace. Since she doesn't like to miss out on any important plots of the book. She glanced up form her book when she heard a bark from Layla. She raised a brow at the puppy as she looked down from where they entered. She followed the puppies gaze and spotted another dog. A Rottie breed. She grinned at the dog, she liked the Rottie breed, in some respects. Yet they aren't such a bad dog breed. She then looked further from the dog and spotted a boy. She spoked loud enough for the boy to hear. "This your dog?" She asked him hoping for a response, or maybe coming over for Layla and the Rottie to just maybe socialize. Yet most dogs might be independent and might not like to socialize. So whatever the owner chooses to do.
She watched as Layla walked closer to the Rottie and layed down facing the Rottie, laying down about 4 feet away from the Rottie. 'Guess she's waiting for the Rottie to do the first move..' She thought to herself with a silent soft laugh to herself. She just watched the two for a while to see what was going to happen before bookmarking the page and putting the book back in her bag. She watched as Layla barked to the dog. She grabbed her bag and put the handle of the bag over her shoulder and walked over beside Layla and knelt down beside her. She then looked back up to the boy. "Sorry, Layla just loves playing with other dogs.." She said to him as Layla stared back at the Rottie to see the dog's response.

Oliver looked over when he heard a voice and smiled at the girl who had spoken to him. "Yeah." He replied. "Her name's Athena." He always chuckled when he told people the canine's name. Athena was a Greek Goddess of war, and the dog was anything but a warrior. "That's her you can't see me posture. She's a bit of a scaredy cat."
He knelt down beside the Rottie and rubbed the spot behind her ears. "It's quite alright, Athena likes plying too, she's just a little shy about getting to know other dogs. With people she's assertive and happy to make the first move, not so much with others of her own species though." The boy stood up and grinned when his pet did the same thing, and with a little nudge from his knee, Athena dropped down again and crawled across the space that separated her and Layla.
The boy ran his hand through his dirty blond hair, bushing it out of his eyes, even though it dropped back as soon as his hand left. "Hey, I'm Oliver." He'd seen the girl around the Academy, but had not yet spoken to her.

----------------------------------------- "We are not always Perfect." ----------------------------------------- The brown haired girl grinned as the boy spoke. "Athena, like the Greek Goddess?" She asked with a small laugh before glancing back at the Rottie. The dog almost seemed like a Greek Goddess. She just grinned at the thought before looking back up at the boy as he continued to speak. "Everyone has their moments.." She answered with another warm smile as she looked back over to Layla.
She rubbed Layla's ear as the boy continued to speak. "Sometimes Layla has her shy moments too.." She responded with another smile as she watched Layla get up and dig through Aspen's bag for her favorite ball. Aspen laughed softly as she watched Layla roll the ball over to the Rottie, offering it to play with her and barked again. "Yep, Layla is very playful.." She commented with another grin towards the boy
She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear as she stoofd back up to look at the boy, who introduced himself as Oliver. I'm Aspen... Oliver.. Nice name." She added the small comment to him with another grin as she remembered seeing him around the Academy. Yet she was still new, so she never really got to meet anyone here at the academy. This might be her first.

Oliver nodded his head. "Yeah, like the Goddess." He replied softly as he scuffed the toe of his shoe on the ground. The fact that he'd chosen to do study on the Greek Gods and Goddesses had made him the joke of the class, as it was seen as a girlie topic, and then everyone hated him when he had set the bar in the class with his 98%.
He smiled at the girl's description of her own dog. "She's young. If she wasn't playful, with her breed, I'd be worried." Spaniels were known for being super active, which made them good bird-dogs, and if the puppy had been subdued then he would question her mental health.
Aspen He repeated silently. Like the tree. He looked the girl over, and like her name, she was willowy. And her brown hair set off her tanned skin. He shook his head to bring him back to the here and now. "You have a very pretty name." He commented. "How long have you had Layla?" He also wondered if she was going to do agility with Layla, but didn't ask.

----------------------------------------- "We are not always Perfect." ----------------------------------------- Aspen grinned as she head him say "Yeah, like the Goddess." She seem to get something right so far at Blue Ridge. It was actually kind of cute that he named the dog after a Greek Goddess. She would of never thought of naming Layla as a Greek Goddess. "That's cool. The name seems to fit her anyways.." She commented with a small grin. His Rottie is a female so obviously you need to think of female names. Yet Athena is a pretty unique name.
She nodded as he spoke about Layla being young. "Ya, she is still a puppy. I would be worried as well.." She responded. 'This boy seems to know his facts' Aspen thought to herself. Yet she liked it. She knew that he must be doing good in school if he knew all the basic facts for every topic. At least Aspen thinks that. Yet she didn't comment or speak about the thoughts in her mind.
She gave a warm smile as he commented about her name. "Thanks." She responded. He seems like a nice guy. She then looked down at Layla and watched as she rolled the ball around. She then looked back at Oliver as he began to speak. "Oh, well, my best friend gave her to me as a goodbye present when I was about ready to leave to Blue Ridge. So I only had Layla for like a few days.." She answered. It was actually true. She haven't had Layla any longer. Yet they seemed to bond quickly when they first met. Since Layla was still a puppy. "How long have you had Athena?" She asked in her kind tones as she turned the topic over to him.

After finishing up another session of cheerleading practice, Sara wanted to get away from the school for a little bit. She thought of the busses that ran from the school to Blue Ridge proper, and decided that she would take Cinder out for a bit of fun. He was doing much better than he had been a month previously, and she was glad of it. He still wasn't as reliable as Nunya had been, but he was definately getting there. She hurried up to her room and changed into a pair of yoga pants and a loose shirt, then knelt and switched Cinder's cape to his better-fitted black vest. She tossed his long leash, a first aid kit, a bottle of water, and a baggie of treats into the backpack, then zipped it closed and swung it onto her back. She clipped the short leather tab onto Cinder's collar and then headed out of the door, making sure the lock engaged properly.
After a bit of hassle on the bus, she finally made it to Blue Ridge proper, and got off of the bus. She paused to switch the tab that she had been using for the regular six-foot leash she had packed, then set off towards the reserve. When they arrived, she glanced around at the expanse of land. She could see two other kids, who looked about her age, and headed in their direction. She could see that they had dogs, and while they both seemed smaller than Cinder, she hoped the dog could play with them a bit.
As she approached them, she smiled and called out, "Hello! Is it okay if I let Cinder here play with your dogs?" She hoped they would say yes, but wasn't really sure. She didn't recognize either of them, at the least, which could be good or bad.

Oliver watched keenly as the young Rottie crawled up to the younger Spaniel and touched the puppy's nose with her own ever so gently and ever so carefully. The teen boy gave the black and tan dog a tender smile, he adored how gentle she could be, especially when he thought of the fact that she was one-hundred pounds of pure muscle.
He lifted his gaze from the canines to Aspen when she repeated his own question. "I got given her for my birthday two years ago, and she was an eight week old puppy back then." He replied. "And even back then she was shy. Other than the odd growl during her training though, she'd never had any bad treatment." He smiled at his canine again. "I'm a firm believer in dog temperaments are due to the owners and not the breed."
It was when Athena was suddenly glued to his legs that he knew there was someone else approaching them, and when he turned and saw the Malamute he understood why Athena's tail was clamped to her back legs - as he had refused (point blank) to get her tail docked. He recognised the girl, and her canine, from around school. "Sure you can." He replied as he rubbed Athena under her chin. "I'm Oliver and this is Athena."

----------------------------------------- "We are not always Perfect." ----------------------------------------- Aspen laughs softly as she watched the Rottie crawled up to the younger Spaniel and touched the puppy's nose with her own ever so gently and ever so carefully. Layla lollied out her tongue and layed down on the grass like Athena, and forgetting about the ball. The spaniel just gazed at the dog, and waited for the next move. Aspen grinned and as slobbery as it was, she grabbed the ball Layla was playing with and put it away.
She looked back up to Oliver as he answered her question. She listened to the whole story and nodded when he ended his answer with a comment. "I would agree with you.." She gave a small smile after that reply to his comment. She really ment it actually, and she knew where he would get the idea from. She then looked down at the two dogs, well one dog and puppy, as Layla nudged Athena's nose with her's, as if trying to do the same action Athena was trying to do to her.
She then spotted Layla ran over to stand by her instead of going to play with Athena. Yet she then noticed the Rottie was suddenly glued to her owner's legs. She looked over and saw the Malamute and a girl that came with the big dog. She then grinned at the girl in greetings. Layla cautiously walked over to greet the Malamute. She then looked at the girl when she asked the question. "Of course.." She replied after Oliver said his turn, and introduced herself like Oliver did. "I'm Aspen, this is my puppy Layla."

Sara saw the reaction that their approach had on the Rottweiler and frowned, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare her." As the boy introduced himself, though, she nodded and smiled just slightly, "Thank you." She looked at the two dogs, smiling. As the two other students introduced herself, she grinned again, "It's nice to meet all four of you. I'm Sara, and then this is Cinder." She saw the little puppy walk up to Cinder and was glad to see that the Malamute didn't return the pup's greetings, but instead looked at her. She knelt down and removed Cinder's vest, folding it neatly, then unclipped Cinder's leash and murmured, "Licens" to him. Smiling, she stood again and zipped open her backpack, stowing the vest and leash in its depths. She watched Cinder bend down to sniff at the spaniel pup, smiling slightly, then looked at the girl, Aspen, "How old is Layla?" She glanced at Athena, then at Oliver, "And Athena as well, if I may ask?" The Rottie seemed older, maybe two or three years, about the same age as Cinder, while the spaniel was obviously still a puppy, but a cute one at that.

Oliver brushed away the newcomer's apology with a wave of his hand. "Don't stress about it." He said. "She's scared of her own shadow until she finds the courage to growl at it."
He grinned as the girl introduced herself and her canine. "It's really nice to meet you too, Sara and Cinder." He said as he grabbed Athena's ball from the ground where she dropped it and pitched it off into the middle of the trees. "Fetch." He whispered as she black canine shot off to search for the ball.
He looked back at Sara as she asked about the age of the animals. "Athena is two." He replied. "So hopefully she'll grow into her courage, but who knows." He nodded toward Cinder. "Bet he's not the easiest animal to keep free of knots and burrs." He could only imagine how long it would take to groom the Malamute's coat.
He turned as he heard a muffled bark and smiled as Athena came bounding out from the trees, but rather than carrying her ball, she was carrying a stick that was twice the size of the dog herself. "Where's your ball?" He asked with a laugh. "Drop and find." He shook his head, knowing that they couldn't leave the reserve until the ball had been found as it was the Rottie's security blanket. "How old is Cinder?" He asked turning back to the two females.

Aspen grinned as Sara introduced herself and her dog, Cinder. She let Oliver speak before she spoke her turn. "Nice to meet you, Sara, and you too Cinder.." She glanced down at Layla and the Malamute. She watched as Layla barked towards the big dog and sat down staring at Cinder. Puppies, always curious.
She went in her bag and grabbed one of Layla's squeaky toys and put it on the ground next to the Spaniel. The puppy nudged the squeaky toy over to the Malamute and waited for the big dog to play with her. She smiled at the puppy before looking back up at the two students.
She heard the question about how old the dog and puppy were. She let Oliver speak his turn before it was her turn. "Layla is about three months old, so obviously still a puppy.." She said in a kind voice as she listened to Oliver commented about Cinder not being the easiest animal to keep free of knots and burrs. It probably wouldn't be easy, yet Aspen didn't reply or add to his comment. She didn't want any hard feelings.
She looked over and watched Athena come bounding over with a stick. She giggled silently to herself as the stick was twice the size of the dog herself. She could only imagine if that was Layla, and they then would have to search the whole reserve for the ball before they leave. She then wanted to ask the same question about Cinder's age, but Oliver beat her to it. She didn't mind at all that Oliver stole her question. She just went with it.
OOC: No pretty table this time xD

She grinned as she watched Athena run off after the ball. As she heard the bark, she glanced down at the little puppy, Layla, and smiled as she saw Cinder pad over to the puppy and sniff at her. The Malamute picked up the toy and play-bowed to Layla before turning and jumping away, trying to provoke a game of chase.
As she got the answer to her questions, Sara smiled, "That's neat." So Athena was about the age of Cinder, although they had probably had different lives. She nodded as she heard that Layla was three months, "Well, she acts the puppy as well, but I think Cinder does as well." She watched the large red-and-white malamute fondly. At Oliver's comment, she laughed, "He's not, actually, but most days he stays pretty clean. The arena dust, though, is the hardest to get out, since it gets in through all of it." She smiled slightly, "Well, he doesn't mind being washed at the horse wash racks, at the least, when no one else is around." It was the easiest way to clean the dog, without clogging up the bathtub with hair and dirt.
She laughed as she saw Athena come back with a giant stick, "That's a neat magic trick, run after a ball, bring back a stick." As the age question was turned towards her, she smiled, "He's two years as well, more or less. He acts more like a puppy, although he's already gigantic."

Oliver lifted his eyebrows at the age of the Spaniel, there weren't that many teenagers who would take on the pressures of training a puppy and the gruelling pressures of high school. "So, a lot of growing left into her then?" He said with a laugh, only then did he notice the size of the puppy's feet.
He listened to Sara talk about Cinder and nodded about the fact that he was easier to keep silky smooth than he thought. "Yeah, that arena dust is hard to get out of everything." He agreed, knowing how much he shook out of his own hair after a session on a day with a good breeze.
He shook his head at Athena when the canine only sat down behind her log with a proud look on her face as she tipped her head to the side, waiting for her owner to make the normal fuss for bringing something back. The boy stepped forward and ruffled the Rottie behind her ears, shaking his head when she looked expectantly at the stick. "Sorry girl, compared to that thing, I may as well be Tom Thumb." He said, as there was no way he was going to try throwing it - it would be easy to pick up. He broke a decent sized stick off the end of it and pitched the stick through the trees, listening as it hit a few trees before everything was silent. He hoped that it landed somewhere near her ball.
He turned his attention back to the ladies and their canines. "Sara, I'm sorry if this sounds insensitive, but how much training does a dog like Cinder have to go through to do their job?" He was very curious as he'd never been around working dogs before.
