Avery paced around in her room, no doubt annoying the floor below her if they were even in. It was around three o’ clock in the afternoon and even on the weekend, the brunette was actually feeling somewhat energetic. Zombie watched intensely, completely baffled at her owner’s outburst of energy. The Pitbull was starting to feel quite energetic as well. Trotting off toward where her leash had been strewn, the dog bit at it, attempting to pull it off the counter top. Avery paused mid-step, her blue eyes clearly latching onto the signal. Obviously, they perhaps both needed a walk and Zombie felt like giving Avery one.
Chuckling at her dog’s smartness, the brunette picked up the leash immediately causing the four year old dog to start wriggling all over with excitement. Avery shook her head slightly “Stay still, I can’t clip it on smart one.” her voice came out stern, but there was a hint of playfulness inside. Zombie still knew the tone and sat her little butt down. Avery rubbed behind the Pitbull’s ears before clipping the black leash on. With doggy equipment, Avery hadn’t exactly wanted to get the most fashionable, rather the most efficient. The thing extended with the push of a button and stopped with another button.
Zombie quickly trotted out of the door when Avery opened it up, almost taking off in a run before the girl held the line taught and stopped her short of going up on a puppy frenzy to a few students. As ridiculous as it was, some people had actually been quite terrified of her dog, due to her breed but Avery knew Zombie was one of the most sweetest creatures on Earth. The puppy had been raised by her grandma for God’s sake, and it didn’t annoy her more when people only disliked her dog due to its breed.
With that thought, the brunette shot a look to the somewhat terrified students before walking in the direction off the campus. It was a beautiful day in the upcoming winter, and she was quite happy to feel the rays of sunshine on her back. Her scarf blew this way and that in the few breezes whistling along, but they were generally mellow and she enjoyed her walk down to the reserve. Once she got there, Avery giggled at her dog, taking the lead off and producing a tennis ball. Zombie barked in delight, excitement wagging her tail up into a frenzy. Avery tossed the ball straight, a smirk on her face as she watched those legs take off. “Go get it Zombie! Go get it!”

Avery wasn't the only one who was feeling the pains of having extra energy, or having the desire to get for some fresh air and to stretch out her legs. Mercedes had been sitting in in her apartment for a good three hours pacing back and forth between the kitchen and her living room through a trail she had made through the stacks of boxes that she had still yet to unpack. She was bored out of her mind, even after she had finished with her weekend work and taking Apache out for a long hack down one of the trails. Her head stable hand said that she would call for Mercy is there was anything else she needed to have done, but that just didn't seem to be happening.
It took a while, but in time she finally made up her mind of what she was going to do to keep herself occupied. She had heard that when most of the students had free time away from their horses and school work that they liked taking their dogs down to the reserve where they could swim or just let their pets run to their heart's content without having to worry about spooking any of the horses. It sounded like a good time, so within a few minutes she had gone to put on a pair of shorts and a tank top under her jeans and Unicorn Poop and had packed a bag with a towel, a pair of flip flops and a sack lunch before setting off out the door and down the stairs of the Brown Ribbon Apartments where her 'Second daughter' (Apache being her first and the white, classic Harley Davidson Road King with the bison skull airbrushed on the gas tank being her second) was parked in front of the building.
Bringing the bike to life with a kick and a roar of the engine she was off down the street and off of Blue Ridge campus. The ride was short, but Mercy enjoyed it. The vibrations of the bike under her, the dull hum from inside her helmet, the wind whipping at her leather jacket. It was amazing.... the only thing that beat that feeling was when she went galloping bare-back on her appaloosa mare.Though sadly all good things had to come to an end at some point.
Pulling up into the small parking lot Mercedes parked and dismounted her bike, wandering up into the deep green lawn she took off for the lake with the plans on taking a nice long swim in the cold water.....however that idea didn't last too long. Because just as she was within ten feet of the lake shore a tennis ball seemed to come out of nowhere and thump her in the side of the head. Followed by a very excited pit bull who thundered over to her happily without any intentions of stopping.

Zombie was actually four years old, but she still did have her puppy qualities. Avery liked to call the Pitbull, her little refined puppy. She was certainly curious above anything else, as well as the fact she got excited at the fact of meeting others. The dog didn’t do too well off the leash in general due to her happy behavior, but she did listen when the brunette used her tone. Avery shook her head slightly, wondering somewhat curiously rather than condescending how a dog could get so excited over a tennis ball. Still, it did exercise her arm in a way and after throwing for a long time, Avery didn’t doubt she’d be a good pitcher in softball.
The girl grinned at the thought before raising her eyebrows in pure surprise as she watched the ball take its course. She sighed slightly, waiting for the hit and hoping the ball wouldn’t hit the upcoming woman too hard. It was actually somewhat amusing, but Avery didn’t dare laugh. Even with her usual blunt attitude, the brunette knew that meeting someone the way she was about wasn’t the best route. Of course, she didn’t actually care if the woman would dislike her or not, more of a feeling of being fair since she’d thrown the ball in the first place.
Her next slight worry turned to Zombie, who’s first probable thought was to grab the tennis ball. Of course, the person it had hit had soon become a more interesting thing to invest energy in and the dog panted, her muscular chest shoving up to the woman and attempting to jump at her. After attempting to bulldoze the woman, Zombie turned, running to grab the tennis ball and brought it to the woman, giving her a puppy adorable look. Avery chuckled slightly at the site, but her look turned apologetic.
She looked closely at the woman, unsurprised at her familiar face. It was quite obvious she probably worked at BRRA, but Avery wasn’t sure what. Still, she had an apology needing to be said and she wasn’t going to dwell on time. Zombie sidled up to her once more, letting out a little bark and wriggling her butt. “Zombie, sit.” Avery said, her tone stern and deep. The dog sat her bottom down immediately, her eyes looking up somewhat guiltily. The brunette sighed and gave the woman a nod. “Sorry about that. Is your head alright?” she asked, referring to the ball incident.

The ball really hadn't caused much damage when it collided with Mercy's hard head. In fact, the worse that would probably come from the encounter would most likely be nothing more than a small, swollen bump on the side of her head that would die down by the end of the day. It had startled Mercedes more than anything really and taken her by surprise. But on the other hand, the happy toy orientated dog that bounded over to her she at first thought would be entirely different situation. Mercy was nervous around medium to large sized dogs that she didn't know, no matter what their breed was. She wasn't afraid of them really, but growing up she had lived near a couple of young men who thought it was fun to get their hands on dogs that had aggression problems and make them fight each other. Though when she was twelve the two had gotten what they deserved when one of them had a gGerman shepherd turn on them after trying to break of a fight her grandfather had always warned her against approaching any k9 she met while playing outside. Though as the gray dog jumped up onto her, causing her to stumble back as she licked her face with absolutely no anger or other signs to suggest that she may be trying to bite her, Mercy figured she was pretty safe.
Laughing she shoved the pit away from her and sat up where she was greeted with a slightly slobbery ball being dropped beside her and big, soulful, and good natured eyes staring at her anxiously while waiting for the ball to be thrown again. She was about to pick it up when a shadow casted over the two of them, blocking out the light and making Mercy jump when a firm voice told the dog to sit. Tilting her head up to look at the young woman Mercy smiled gently and shook her head. Clambering back up onto her feet where she dusted herself off and reassured the girl that she was in once piece and that there were no hard feelings involved.
"Hah, don't worry about it. I should have been paying more attention to where I was going and my surroundings." with this she leaned down, petting Zombie's smooth coat and scratching her affectionately behind the ears. "My name's Mercedes. You a student at Blue Ridge?" she asked with a pleasant smile, holding out her hand and offering a shake.
