Vera rubbed her blue irises tiredly, for a second letting her head drop to the dashboard of the large vehicle. Her father had insisted upon going with the fragile girl, he knew that she had no idea what way beyond their fence and hoped nothing would happen to her. If something did, it would just have to be a life lesson. It was clear poor Ver was exhausted, and she had jet lag, big time. She slowly started to doze off, slipping to the side but her father roughly shook her awake. He began speaking Russian to her, and for a second, she became confused, then her mind righted itself and she immediately snapped up the words with a docile nod. Her head pounded and she just wanted to get out of this car and go home. She didn't want to be in America, she didn't fit here, she suddenly felt panic well up in her chest and she began to breathe slowly, calming herself. A sudden meow caught her attention. Oh Abri! She had leaned forward and practically squished the poor Scottish Fold kitten. She sighed, and said an apology to the kitten, in a heavy Russian accent. The kitten meowed and then started to purr as she rubbed against her delicate owner's stomach. The Russian girl smiled lightly, fondling the kitten's ears affectionately. The kitten's response was to swat at the girl's hand with her tiny paw, her claws sheathed, and that made Ver laugh a little. She was corrected at her fathers sharp turn of the head as he stared at her with his cruel brown eyes. She looked down, and continued to pet Abri, hugging the kitten to her. This didn't bother Abri as the Fold snuggled into the warmth of her owner's jacket. It was clear Ver wasn't much of a talker and she didn't enjoy other people's company. She was kind of terrified of her own kind, meeting new people, and people in general just sort of, frightened her. Her father knew of this and commanded the girl to go to counseling, work on this, as he called it, "Foolish fear." It was kind of foolish, her being afraid of her own kind. But who could blame her, she grew up all alone in basically a sanctuary all to herself. She had no people skills what so ever. The man beside her, Viktor, had been looking through the site, and chose a counselor named Gabriel, to send her to, and the thought made her shiver. She couldn't do this, she couldn't do this.
Ver would probably be able to slide by with adults, or little children, but these were teenagers. Her own generation, and for some reason, they terrified her. Ver shook her head as her father began speaking rough English to her. Apparently, she had zoned out.... again. She didn't belong here, she felt like a small fish in a tank with sharks. She was scared of her own shadow, metaphorically of course, but now more people. She felt like she was going to be poked and prodded, like a experiment. Why was he doing this to her. She pressed her face into Abri's fur and sighed, gripping onto her control sensors. Okay, here we go. As the large SUV pulled to a stop, she stepped out, shaking slightly. Once she walked into that office, she would be there forever, until she graduated. Her foot landing solidly on the ground, she unfolded one of her long legs from beneath her and set the kitten onto the seat and gently closed the door. Walking into the office, her father pursued her, standing in the background like a body guard. She looked at him, and he nodded sharply to the girl. She looked at the women at the front desk and said a bit shakily. Her heavy accent peeking out but she still had the feminine tone to it.M-Mrs. Harris? I, um, am Vera Aleskandrov. I'm a new student here. She looked down shyly and offered a bit of a smile, hopefully, this experiment wouldn't go too bad.
