Yeah I'm a selfish bastard But at least I'm not alone My intentions never change What I wanted stays the same Chuck was just busy taking out the last stallions into the bright sun of the day. He had to prep another stall for a new arrival, but right now he had his hands full with a grey stallion belonging to another staff member. The stallion's name was Silver Lining, but he sure was mean. The short walk to the paddock seemed to take forever. It would be easy with two hands, but his one arm was still in a cast and Chuck was glad when the stallion was put away. Walking back to the barn, he ran his hand through his brown hair. The barn was quiet now that every horse was enjoying the sunlight. He went to his office, and fetched the plaque with the stallions show name. Charred Ash, it sounded like another stallion that was as mean as their name. Most of the time, they lived up to it. Sometimes they didn't, as with Silver Lining. It took a while for one armed Chuck to prep the stall, but he had done it. He went back to his office, and waited for the new arrival. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tags: Myssi Outfit: Click here if you dare Words: Too lazy to count Lyrics: Was it a dream?~~ 30 Seconds to Mars Listening to: The afternoon news.

Blythe entered the airy barn with Blacksmith at her side. The stallion snorted at the other horses, clearly trying to establish the fact that he alone was in charge, and no one was to mess with this fact. The stud then dropped his head and relaxed his arched neck docilely by his mistress' side.
The twenty-five year old glanced around the barn for a manager, and saw none, so she shrugged, and led Blacksmith over to the stall with his show name on it. The space was already clean, so all the woman had to do was let the charcoal black horse into his stall, pick up his water bucket and go find the water hose.
As she started her search, she passed an office. Blythe saw the figure of a man inside, but the young blond wasn't exactly one to ask for a man's help. The country girl was raised to be self-sufficent, so, she was.

Her outfit is the same one she wore to the Brood barn.

Yeah I'm a selfish bastard But at least I'm not alone My intentions never change What I wanted stays the same Chuck heard the foot falls of a stallion entering the barn. They weren't jumpy or spooky, and Chuck breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of there finally being a relatively calm stallion. If a horse like that existed. Calm stallion. Being the womanizer that he was, he instinctively looked. Oh my lord, she's hot! was he's first thought. Not to go help, or anything like that. Only when he realised that she might want help, did he leave the office. Morning. I'm Charles Bass, the manager of this barn, and excuse me for saying so, but you're extremely good looking. He hoped that he wasn't being too forward. Then again from his experience it was what woman liked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes: Sorry if he's too forward. It's Chuck for you.

Blythe looked up at the sound of footsteps also. Only she was hearing human footfalls.
The sight that met her eyes was a man confident in himself and rather good looking. But Blythe was a cowgirl, so she waited for him to talk first, and when he did, she raised an unimpressed eyebrow.
"I can see why they made you head of the stallion barn. You think you're something, don't ya?" She narrowed her eyes. "But, pal, you're going to have to try a little harder."
The Tennessee girl picked up the bucket and walked to Blacksmith's stall, talking on the way over. "I'm Blythe Rhydderch, the new Horse Judge. This is Charred Ash, better known as Blacksmith. He's a big dog, so no need to worry about him trying to flirt. His only problem? He likes to be the top horse. Best keep him away from other males unless they're geldings."

Chuck had received worse bats from women before so all he did was laugh it off. Course I think I'm something. I'm Chuck Bass. It was that key smile that he gave her, that usually made women want him more than anything in the world. Yet he could see that this one was going to be a tough nut to crack, yet those were always the sweetest ones. I'm glad to hear that your stallion is better behaved. I have enough trouble handling one badly behaved stallion one-armed, but 1/2 a barn... None of our stallions are in a paddock together, they are all kept separate. Safety reasons and all that jazz. Chuck was interested to hear that she was the new horse judge. Well then, we may be seeing more of each other. Not that I'm complaining. I'm also the Equestrian Team coach. I'd offer my hand to formally introduce myself, but as you can see I don't have full use of my left arm just yet.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes: I just had to pull "I'm Chuck Bass" on her. "Well, Mr. Bass, I've never heard of you, so you aren't a horse trainer, and are therefore, uninteresting." she smiled at him, obviously teasing him in good humor. His smile caught her eye, but she knew a man was like a horse; they could be as handsome as anything, but as soon as you get to trusting them, they turn around to kick you. She was usually a good judge of character, but Blythe wasn't one to brag about any of her skills.
"I trained Blacksmith myself when from the day he was born, when I was fifteen. He knows to behave, or answer to me. But if he does give you any trouble, just slap him on the muzzle to remind him that even though he's handsome, he's still not the top horse over you. He'll straighten out aftrer that."
The big Tennessee Walker came over to Blythe and nuzzled her open palm. She reached up to rub him between the ears, smiling fondly at her stallion.
She looked back at Chuck as he began talking once more. "That's quite exciting, Mr. Bass, but I don't think I'm the competition judge. I'm here to teach the youngsters to judge. So unless you plan on beating me in a Western event, which is unlikely, we'll only see each other in this barn, where Blacksmith can keep an eye on you. And I don't know how your mama taught you, but mine taught me that we shake with our right hand... not the left." She raised an eyebrow at him.

Blythe was certainly a hard one to impress that's for sure. Actually, I was a horse trainer when I was still living in New York. And I'm glad to hear that Blacksmith is a generally well behaved stallion. It's a pity that we'll only see each other in this barn. There's to much male hormones going around here as is. He had enjoyed being a trainer, more so for the female grooms than anything else.
At her comment, he held up his right which had been in his coat pocket. It had been ace bandaged at the wrist, and his middle finger was strapped. Some on the stallions had decided to be pushy during feeding last night. He chose to ignore the part of his mother, seeing that she hadn't been around to teach him much any way.
So how long are you planning on staying at the Academy?

The cowgirl raised her eyebrow in it's ever natural unamused expression. "I apologize. I jumped to conclusions. And I might be around a lot, for that matter. I work with Blacksmith daily and train him."
She ran her critical eyes over his hand and was quite surprised. Seemed like the man was getting beat up left and right. "Since you seem to be out of the league with all your injuries, would you like some help until you heal up."
She chuckled at his last comment. "Well, I plan on staying as long as people want me around." She went to the tack room and removed a brush from the bag of curry comba dn rub brishes, then went to Blacksmith. She opened the stall and whistled, and as she clipped a lead to his halter, the stallion walked over to her in a quiet docile manner, pausing breifly to touch Chuck's hand before waiting as his mistress clipped the halter over his head. Blythe then began to rub him down in long, strong strokes.

Nah, it's okay. On both accounts. I'm glad to hear that you work your stallion everyday. Some of these stallions get minimal work, and well it shows in their attitude
Chuck petted the horse awkwardly. He wasn't used to girls not going week at the knees for him, and it sure did baffle him. Chuck was a deluxe womanizer. A different one almost everyday. Some hospital staff hadn't taken to kindly to him when he appeared with a broken arm. He shouldn't have had been friendly with them. Though it helped in certain cases.
So what does your job entail? Of all things you ask that

The black animal cocked a hoof and flicked his ears back into a relaxed manner as he was brushed down, clearly enjoying the strokes that removed the minimal amount of dirt and dead fur from his coat.
"I teach the students how to judge certain classes, such as halter, reining, western pleasure, hunter under saddle, trail, english equatation, hunter hack, western horsemanship, and how to give reasons appropriately. If a few students are serious enough about being judges, or serious about wanting to judge, then I enter them in judging competitions. Speaking of which, word is that you might have some yearlings I could use to teach the kids how to judge halter yearlings. Is this true, Mr. Bass?"

Chuck nodded at her question. I don't have them here. They're up in New York, but I can bring them down here for a while. What are you exactly looking for? It wasn't that he could provide much variety, the stud only had Warmbloods and some Thoroughbreds. Yet in that small pool, the bloodline variety was large.
The black stallion, was all in all content. It made Chuck happy to see a horse like that. It mean't that he was doing his job, but thankfully his job did allow for some off time as well. Thinking about that had started him wondering where he was going to go in the evening. Most of the joints he had been, and also sampled the female population in them.

"Well, some halter trained yearlings are all that's really needed. Most shows don't elaborate on the breed of the horses. I'm sure you know what a halter horse is built like, right?" Her eyes glimmered at him with the question, almost challenging him. Blacksmith flicked his tail and stamped a hoof, flicking his ears back toward Chuck for a second before allowing them to relax forward again. The calm nature of the horse nudged forward the memory of his sire, Mechanic. The flashy chestnut had been one of the gentlest things on four legs, even gentler around a mare who he was being bred too. He treated them like the gentleman he was, quietly, calmly, and was always happy to let the young Blythe ride him. -- Meet Mechanic Here

Of course I do. Chuck growled. He had been around horses most of his life, and he had taken over the stud from a young age. Then Smacks, and Call took over his life, and he just wanted to escape his parents, or the lack of them.
So when do you want them? And how many? he asked. It would give a good estimate in time, and such.

She cocked her head at him with a playful glint in her eye. She seemed to have touched a nerve of his with her Southern nature and assurance. "I'll need four, most likely in about three weeks, but I'll get back to you once I get my schedule all worked out."

Chuck sometimes couldn't understand women. Why did they always want to play games? It was frustrating not to say the least. Well, I'll have them ready for you. Chuck would have to make sure that the yearling's had their vacs already. Not being in New York, close to the stud, totally screwed up his planning and timing.
I'm sorry to be so rude, but I forgot to ask if you would like something to drink?
