Horses hung their heads over their half doors watching her as she passed. A lead in her hand as she lead the abused Thoroughbred down to his stall. She tied the Gelding outside of his stall and got a grooming kit. His Mane was a tangled mess and his coat covered in sores though she had already hosed off all of the mud that was caked to his coat. It was a wonder he didn't already have an infection. It broke her heart to see this gelding in such a state.
Keshet liked the fact that he was finally being pampered. Addy was so gentle at getting the tangles from his mane trying not to hurt him at all. She took her time getting the tangles from his mane and tail letting her work consume her. Finally she took the body brush over him careful not to hurt any the sores that were over his body. She would have to add some of her antibiotic cream and hope that any infection that might have got into the wounds. Cara led her spirited Avangelise mare into the barn, she kept a firm hold on the rope as the small horse danced at her side, her hindquarters swinging this way and that as she showed her human her distaste in being brought inside. "Calmer mon doux l'un." She soothed the mare softly as she placed her hand on the mare's silvery coloured nose. "C'est juste un peu, je promets." The mare had been favouring her near fore leg and on closer inspection, Cara had found some heat in her shoulder so had decided to bring the mare into the barn for the night to see if it were any different after having a night in the stall. However, if the mare kept up like she was now, she wouldn't be any better off for having a night indoors.
The fifteen year old cross-breed (the human that is, not the horse) kept her pace steady as they headed down to the mare's stall. "Facile!" She exclaimed as the mare rose up on her hind legs, her nostrils flaring at a scent she had caught from a nearby stall. "En bas, la jolie fille." She said gently as she raised one hand into the air. Her hand lowered as the mare did the same and stood on the spot trembling. "Le quel est?"

The gray gelding threw his head into the air, making Addison jump back from his sudden movement. Addy looked out across the isle and caught sight of the rearing horse, She knew from experiance from her two geldings that it would be best to let the mares owner calm her. Tazz didn't like other people and Keshet didn't like men. Horses had feelings and dislikes just like humans and Addy would respect that. "Easy Big Boy" She said as Keshet snorted into her hair. She stroked his nose with care peeking over her shoulder at the women who was entering the barn "Are you alright?" She spoke in a quite voice so not to spook the horses.

Cara placed her hand on her mare's nose, allowing the mare to draw in her handler's calmness. Once the small horse seemed to have calmed down, Cara led her forward again.
"Are you alright?"
She turned when she heard a soft female voice from not too far away from where she stood with the mare. "Nous sommes fins, vous remercier madame." She replied, she then shook her head when she realized what she'd done. "We are fine, thank you ma'am." She took a step toward the owner of the voice but stopped when Phoenix's front feet rose off the ground again. "I apologize if she has upset your horse." She wondered what it was about the horse inside the stall that had her mare so unsettled.

Addy nodded turning back to the gelding who looked curiously at the women. If it had been a man Addison would have had a big problem on her hands but Keshet trusted women. Addy knew he must have been abused by a man, that would explain the sores on his back and legs. He was clean though, he looked very pretty with all the dirt off of his coat. Addison stroked the geldings neck as his ears pressed forward again as the mare threw her head up again and she raised herself from the ground. He snorted with an uneasiness not knowing why the mare had such a distaste in him.
" Keshet should be alright, a believe it might be his fault that your girl all upset." Addison said a friendly smile playing upon her lips. She scratched the gelding behind the ears making him relax more so than he was. "I'm sorry i just got him from the action so i'm sure she's startled by him" She said using all of her knowledge of horses to come to that conclusion. "I'm sorry, i'm Addison, Addison Morello and you are?" she introduced herself, She would have shook hands politely with the stranger however Addy was busying herself with Keshet.

Rather upsetting her mare anymore and hanging around to talk, Cara led Phoenix down to her stall. "Revenir de suite." She told her mare with a gentle kiss as she removed the halter and left the stall, securing the door behind her - more out of habit than need as the mare wouldn't take a step out of the stall even in the door was left wide open.
She walked back down to where Addison was with her horse. "Oh mon dieu." She whispered as she looked at the gelding. "That would explain why Phoenix didn't want to be near him." She shook her head. "Sorry, I have forgotten my manners. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Morello, I am Cara-Jean." She looked at the gelding's wounds and thought of the threat of flies. "I have some fly-spray if you would like to use it. It is made out of aromatherapy oils and will only need to be sprayed into the corners of the stall." She was lucky that Addison didn't know her, as right now any of the students at the school who did know her would have their mouths hanging open right now from all the information she had willingly given without any prompting. "I can offer you some herbs to add to his feed too so that he can help fight any infections internally."

Addison watched as the girl led her mare away. The gelding was okay when the women returned he kind of knew that she wasn't going to hurt him. He lowered his crown letting Addy scratch him behind his ear the way he liked. "Yea i just got him from the auction it broke my heart to see him in such a state when he's such a good boy." She said to the women letting her hand run down his clean gray neck. "The pleasures mine Cara Jean.' She smiled looking at her beautiful gelding, his only blemish was his sores, "Thank you Cara Jean i don't know much about working with abused horses so i wasn't sure what exactly to do." She must have seemed really naive to the girl getting the abused thoroughbred and not knowing what she was getting herself into. "I've never used herbs on my horses before." She said stating more of her stupidity. A smile played across her lips, "Sorry if i seem kind of stupid."

"Please, call me Cara." The fifteen year old said, her name was enough of a mouthful without people having to think they need to use the whole thing. She studied the gelding, his face couldn't tell her a lot currently as he was so skinny - body condition score of zero- his face wouldn't honestly tell her what he was really like. His eyes told her though of how much he had been through, a pain she silently shared. His ears also told her that although he would dig in his heels if pushed into things, he was very clever and would pick up things quickly if shown the correct way.
"Not a lot of people do use herbs." She replied softly. "A lot of them still think that the only way to treat horses is with medications. I will be right back." She slowly backed away from the stall and then slipped into the tack room. Walking over to her locker, she opened it at took out a spray bottle filled with a clear liquid. She also grabbed her box of Bach remedies, the gelding could do with at least four: Rescue - for trauma and stress, Rock Rose - for terror, Mimulus - for unknown fears and Walnut - to help him adjust to his surroundings.
Before heading back to where Addison and her gelding were, she stopped off in the feed room and grabbed her spiral notebook of herbs and a pen. She'd give this gelding a section of his own at the back of the book so that Addison could use it to keep track of the gelding's progress if she so felt the need.
"Here you go." She said as she returned to the stall. She didn't hold the things over the door in case she spooked the horse, but would wait for the woman to come and get them off her. "I brought some Bach remedies too, in case you were interested in using them."
