- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The female rose silently, her blue orbs hazy with sleep as her alarm blared at 6:30am. She groaned as her shin caught the bedside table. d**n furniture. she grumbled as she pulled on some discarded socks. She had only been in academy twelve hours, and hadn't met a soul. Well, except the receptionist. The reason she was up so early? Paddy. Paddy was arriving at seven and she wanted to be ready for when he got there. Her hands reached out for her bag that she had stuffed with food. She wasn't leaving the barns for the whole day, she needed to settle Paddy and work with Dakota. She also had to make sure both Desire and Mimic couldn't escape their stalls. A long day was in store. She probably wouldn't be in bed until 1am ish. Another groan slipped through her slightly parted pink lips. No makeup was to be placed on her freckled face. Who did she have to impress? She wasn't going to be good company for humans today, anyway. Her feet slipped into her comfortable sneakers and slipped out her room.
Her soft footfalls carried her toward the white oak barn, a yawn stretching her lips into a wide "O" shape. As if she had sensed her owners arrival, a spotted dome was thrown over a near stable. She gave a soft nicker to her female master and threw down her hoof impatiently. Oi' Quiet. You'll wake the other horses. Scar scolded the Appaloosa vixen. As she got to the stall, the red haired female checked her watch. Right, It's 6:58am Desire. Paddy- At Scar's Akhal-Teke's name, Desire's spotted audits pinned against her neck. Hey now sweetheart. I know you don't like him but he's had a rough time. He's going to be in the stall next to you for the next two or so years m'love. He'll be here now. Scar told the fae while softly running her hands down her dome. Right on que, a rumble from a large vehicle sounded outside the barn doors. An insistent whinny ripped through the windows of the large trailer. Scar cursed quietly, giving Desire a kiss on her grey muzzle, and turned to meet the trailer.
Heat beat down on the girls neck as she emerged from the dark barn. Even at 7am it was warm. She was just glad it wasn't hot enough to make her sweat, yet. She peered at the driver of the trailer and instantly felt bad for him. He looked a little shaken up, and an obvious bruise on his naked arm. I'm so sorry! He's just really scared of men. she appologized profusely. The man gave her a soft smile. It's okay love. I understand. he told her. She smiled gratefully. Finally someone who understood. I'll have him out now. she called to him, hurrying to unlock the door to the trailer. Hey beautiful boy! she cooed to her agitated gelding. He visibly relaxed after hearing her soft vocals, giving a soft nicker. She clambered into the spacey box and untied his lead rope. The fine cremello equine backed out of the box easily, his lean pillars stretching out elegantly. She lead him around the area in-front of the barn to let him work out the stiff limbs from his long trip from his last home in Jasper. She beamed at the graceful beast, but knew inside that Desire was about to throw a hissy fit about being housed next to him. Paddy wouldn't be too happy about it either. She knew that Desire would much, much rather be with her twin, Mimic, and Dakota. But, she had to be in the barn designated to horses with the names under a certain letter.
Paddy located Desire the same time Desire spotted him. Both their ears flattened dramatically. Desire seemed to give what sounded like a hiss, Paddy just turned up his nose and snorted in agitation. Now the pair of you behave! Stop being silly. Scar told them, secretly amused by the pair's display. She led the high maintenance brute into his stall and took off his blue head collar. She sighed as he leaned over his door to nip at Desire and smacked his well defined neck. He flinched back and snorted. She shoved the stall door shut and bolted. A sigh escaped her lips. Time to start with the days work. she exclaimed before collecting up the pair of buckets outside her equines doors. Katherine was already busy working in her office. There was a mug of steaming coffee on the desk and a slice of freshly buttered toast right beside her keyboard. As funny as it may sound, but Katherine had always found that early morning was the best time to get any work done - a small discovery she had made when her children were little.
She was looking out the window when she saw a truck pulling up the drive. Checking her watch and the folder that lived beside her computer, she realized that these must be the equines belonging to Scarlett Williamson. Taking a bite out of the toast and a quick swallow of the hot drink, she pushed her chair back - the wheels moving easily across the floor - and rose to her feet.
Both horse were out of the truck by the time the manager made it down the stairs and out the door. Thankful that the barn-hands had already given the residents their breakfast so that they wouldn't bother the newcomers. "Would you like some help with anything?" She asked as she approached the girl and her horses.

D.avina K.eeley Sneaking back from a early morning ride wasn't as easy as the girl throught as she rode the white cream gelding up to the barns from the trails. The brunette bit her lip, was there a curfew at the academy? She was almost sure there was. Her heart didn't seem to speed up too much until she saw the barn manager. Her dark chocolate eyes darted from side to side. There had to be a way around the situation. Granted, lieing wouldn't help as the gelding was drenched in sweat and after he was untacked, the seventeen year old was headed to the showers with him.
She haulted him out from the barn and dismounted from his back, collecting the brown leather reins. She pushed some hair from her face, glad she decided to put on make-up earlier anyway. Her eyes immediatley saw another cremello, but no offense to the owner, it was ugly and no where near as well behaved as Phantom. The girl looked back at her horse and a smirk played on her lips.Notes: thought Scar could use competition, and maybe an enemy muahaha! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Scar looked up at the sound of approaching feet. Her smile was small, but it was there when she greeted the older female. No thank you. I'm pretty much all set. she said quietly, and then frowned slightly. She realized that her company must either be a teacher or the stable manager. Excuse my rudeness miss. I'm Scarlett Williamson, and these are Desire, she said, indicating to the pretty Appaloosa who had swung her broad dome over the stall door to greet their company. And this is Paddy. she told the woman. Paddy gave a disinterested snort. Although he disliked most humans, he tolerated females. He pressed his white maw into the back of Scar's red haired head. The girl chuckled softly and then turned when the approaching sound of hooves rang into her sensitive audits. Desire snorted a greeting to the Cremello entering the barn and Scar had to admit, it was a beautiful beast. But, something about the girls mannerisms made her not bother to speak to her. A vibe of being "Stuck up" radiated off the cremello's owner. Paddy also seemed to sense it. His audits flattened and his lips pulled back over his ivories. Scar wished she could storm up to that girl and just reveal how much pain dear Paddy had been through, then she wouldn't be so d**n judgmental. But, Scar had no where near enough confidence to do so, she would just suppress her feelings and sulk alone.
The red haired beauty realized that she was clutching the two plastic buckets a little too hard. Uh, could you tell me where the feed room is? Scar asked the woman. Her expression was tense now, she was no where near as relaxed and happy as she was. Her blue oracles where stinging as angry tears picked at them. She hadn't been at the academy five minutes and people were already judging her. If people turned up their nose at her most impressive four legged friend, what would they think of Dakota? Scar held up her head suddenly. What did she care what the girl thought? They were hers, no one elses. They had no business in them. Her face turned back to the woman, her expression kinder this time, waiting for directions to the feed room. Katherine smiled and nodded as her offer was declined quite quickly. She then gave a gentle laugh as the girl, Scarlett gave a speedy apology, followed by an introduction. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Scarlett." She said as she offered the gelding the back of her hand to show him that she had nothing there that was going to hurt him or his handler. "I'm Miss Carr, I manage this place. The stalls for your equines are ready and waiting for them." She nodded further down the barn. "They are named with their registered names."
She turned at the sound of approaching hooves. "If you are going to take early morning rides, Miss Keeley, I would like to be told." She said evenly. "Especially on a horse that you have only recently had in your possession."
She turned back to Scarlett at the girl's request to where the feed room was. "Ahead and to the left are two doors, the first door is the tack room - where your lockers are all ready for you. Each mount has their own. The second door is the feed room. Help yourself to anything in there, including the herbs." Cara had been insistent that the herbs were for everyone to use. "I'll let you settle them in before I ask you all the boring questions."
