--No Way Out-- A jet black Dodge pick-up roared down the highway to the academy. The two-horse slant load trailer it pulled carried it's capacity of equines. Blue-grey eyes stared out the windshield. Hands tightly gripped the leather steering wheel. He didn't even want a horse, now he wound up with two of them...
The truck turned on the academy drive ane drove straight to the barns. Luckily, both of the new horses would be in the same building. The eight teen year olds cell phone had never moved from the console. He did what his dad demanded him to do, or he would be-- a popping sound exploded right underneathe the floor board causing him to jump as high at the seat belt would let him. He cursed under his breath as the truck sank on one side. He had a flat. The good news, he reached the barn. He stopped the vehicle at the entrance, not bothering to park. He couldn't drive any farther until he changed it. He might be blocking some traffic, but he couldn't help it at the moment. He turned the key off and flung the door open. This sure wasn't helping the mood he was in. He bent down and inspected the tire, it was hotter than the concrete to the touch. He must have ran over something.
The cowboy straightened up and walked over to the trailer. He had loaded the blue roan in a first, as he was calmer, and seemed to have more patience. Avery unlatched the door and stepped in, untying the pinto mare's lead. He let the wired horse come out head first into her new home. She snorted anxiously, her head twirling around, "C'mon girl, easy down." Right now, the young man knew she wasn't the prettiest sight. She needed basic care, like a bath, grooming, detangling, trim, and probably a worming. He wasn't going to work her until her hooves were tended too. They were too long. The brown and white mare let out a call for anyone. Avery tied her to the side of the trailer, leaving her to fiddle about in place. He unloaded the tall quarter horse with ease, backing him out. The mare seemed to calm instantley seeing him. Outfit: HereNotes: anyone else is welcome =)

Cara was walking back from the pastures, a rope halter causally swung over her shoulder. Apart from her beige jodhpurs and pale yellow shirt, this was as causal as the girl got.
She was watching the ground in front of her feet, keeping her head down to hide the remains of the bruise that still marked her cheek. However, her head shot up at the sound of a horse, and not a happy horse either. She picked up her pace as she headed toward the barn that her mares had stalls in, slowing down a little when she saw a truck parked out the front with a skewbald mare tied up. Just watching the mare, Cara knew that she was the owner of the voice.
She reached the mare and held out her hand, jumping back as she heard the sound of another horse's hooves on the ramp as a blue roan was led out. "Would... would you like some help, Sir?" Her voice was quiet and shook a little as she caught sight of the teen who was holding the gelding's lead.

The mare tossed her head her glossy coat shining as she walked towards the barn. The tall quarter horse whinnied to let the horses know she was coming back, she got some whinny's of return. "Looks like your popular huh Diamond?" She said to the black and white painted mare. She pranced beside the fence line as the newest addition to the academy's stable came into view. As she got closer she realized it was a mare, she looked bay with white are her hind end and four white fox. If she was groomed she probably would have been as pretty if not prettier than Diamond. Addison had on shorts and cowboy boots and a tank top that had a horse on it. She also had the boy hat that Juan had given her after his return from his family reunion. She looked quite country with her mare walking beside her, but her accent would tell you that she was. She was born and raised in Kentucky so her accent was thick with country.
Addison continued to walk towards the barn as the man unloaded the next horse a gelding coated in a color that looked like blue roan. Cara came running over to the man and horses so Addy curiously walked over to them. She casted the man a shy glance before looking over at Cara. "Isn't he pretty" She said in awe but blushed before the man could look her way. "Let me get her in her stall" Addison said motioning towards Diamond. She clicked her tongue before continuing on her way. "Oh thanks for those herds and things Cara, Keshet is doing a lot better." She offered her a smile before continuing into the barn.

--- Jessie is a friend,, I know he's been a good friend of mine,, But lately something's changed,, that ain't hard to define. --- Avery backed the blue roan from the trailer, only then turning to see a fragile girl, who he knew from a trail ride, looking at his newly purchased mare. Suddenly, the cowboy felt ashamed she looked so horrible, and he felt the need to apologize. His face lit up at the offer, "Sure," he smiled warm, and he tried to talk in a more sophisticated accent. He still had dreams of being a history professor, "I just bought her off the lot. You can even brush her if you want, braid her mane, you know, girly stuff guys wouldn't do?"
No sooner, did another girl come walking up. She was wearing clothing that some would consider unmodest. She had a southern drawl in her voice, and Avery wasn't sure exactly what she was talking about, him or the horse? Haha, no, he knew she meant his gelding. But, before he could say anything, she started walking off. Avery was a man of class, he didn't go for women only for looks, he looked for personality and things in common. But, that girl could turn heads, and she probably knew it. Her hips swang with the rythm of her boots and her blonde hair flew behind her like a banner. Wasn't a bad looking horse by her side either. Avery couldn't help but wonder if she was single or not. He turned to Cara, yeah, he remembered her name now that it had been said, "Ready?" he asked as he turned Prince around facing the right direction. He would let her lead and take care of the mare. He still couldn't believe the irony, the last thing he wanted was to be around horses and cowfolks, and here he was, just like one them himself. Maybe some things never changed.Notes: yay, let the drama begin! Horses: Here (since I forgot last time -facepalm-)

Cara nodded as her offer was accepted, and she stepped forward and offered the mare her hand. "There's a good girl." She whispered as she pulled the mare's rope free and ran a hand down her neck.
She turned as she heard another person approach and bowed her head toward Addison. "I was happy to help." She replied. She led the way into the barn and down to the stall that had been set aside for the two horses. "In we go." She walked forward with confidence and was pleased when the skewbald followed without any hesitation.
She turned to face the mare and had a good look at her before slipped the halter off her head. "I take it you are known for being trouble?" She asked the mare. She also guessed that if the mare hadn't been do out of place outside that she would have untied her own rope and gone for a walk. Her eyes then moved down the mare's body, she was in desperate need of a good groom, and her mane and tail needed serious work - thus the owner's joke about the girly stuff that guys wouldn't do. She didn't think that braids would do this girl justice though, maybe a running braid, but she had the looks of a western horse, and she was sure they were never braided up for competitions. "I'll be right back." She told the mare as she slipped out of the stall - making sure to do up both top and bottom bolts on the bottom door. She didn't know the horse, but the one things she did know was that their faces never lied.

Addison led the frisky mare to her stall and walked her in, she ran her fingers over the mares glossy frame she didn't need to be brushed but Addy would probably pamper her later. Addison let herself out of the stall with ease the mare putting her crown over the side door whinnying in protest. "I know beautiful i'll be back" She said rubbing the mare's forelock. Addy usually jeans around the stable but it was hot today because of the summer coming in and if she had wore jeans she might have died of a heat stroke. She brushed her blond lochs out of her eyes as she walked over to the gelding who was being led by the man. "I'm sorry for earlier i had to get miss prissy back in her stall" She giggled shyly at her own stupid joke looking down at her boots. "i'm Addy' She said softly blushing scarlet from her own embarrassment.
Addison ran her gentle fingers down the geldings neck since he seemed very friendly. "Hey big boy" She said her accent softly rolling off her tongue. Addy had never seen this man around here before, she knew just about everyone that was making there way through the barns now a days, not by name but she had seen them around. "I just got a gelding from the auction myself beautiful Thoroughbred, he was in pretty bad shape but he's doing better now" she said her words running away with her. She blushed again feeling stupid for even thinking that he cared to know anything about her newest addition. he probably just wanted to get his gelding away and not worry about making friends around the barn.

--- Jessie's got himself a girl,, and I want to make her mine. --- Avery stood by, the big roan lazily lowering his head by the man's shoulder. He waited until Cara was a horse length in front of him and started walking with his roan. He watched the mare as she was being led, she seemed to do good with a confidence lead.
The cowboy entered the barn. Cara led the mare to an empty stall, and he was assuming there was another empty one near-by for Prince. Before Avery led his gelding in, he saw the blonde girl walking back to him. He offered her a friendly smile as she started to apologze and laughed lightly, "That's fine, I wouldn't have blamed you if you just walked by." That could be considered thinking low of one's self, but Avery couldn't seem to find anyone who would accept him as the true person he was. His hat and boots told everyone he was a rough riding, hard-working cowboy. His brain wanted to be a sophisticated man, with the knowledge of horses, teaching history at Harvard, or Yale. He had the grades and potentiol to do so. He grinned as she introduced herself, her shy personality making her cute, "Pleasure Addy, I'm Avery," he offered out his warm, calloused hand.
He turned his head as Addy studied his geldng. She started to pet his thick neck. Avery patted the animal's forehead. He nodded his head as she spoke, "Gonna use it for barrels?" he questioned. But then, the thought took him back to the day of his first rodeo, at five years old. He quickly vanished it from his mind. He had heard people say 'a horse in bad shape' but everyone's opinon of that sort of thing was different. He really didn't think a abused/beaten walking skeleton would be at a auction. Someone could call the sheriff for horse abuse and get prosecuted on the spot. He was actually proud of the purchase of the roan, not for his sake, but it was a good deal and his father would be pleased... if the boy lied on the amount of talent the gelding had.Notes: ^^ Horses: Here

Cara slipped into the tack room and grabbed her conditioning spray - specially made for horses. She also grabbed the lavender oil from her locker as well as the spare brushes that she also kept at the bottom of her tack trunk.
With everything in hand, she headed back to the mare's stall. "I possibly should have asked what your name was." She told the brown mare as she slipped into the stall. "This will make your mane and tail smell nice." She put the oil on the ground by the door along with the brushes and held up the spray bottle. "Have a good look at it, it's not going to hurt you." She held the bottle out so that the mare could have a good sniff, she then squirted some of the liquid onto the horse's mane. "Good girl." She said when the mare did no more than blow out through her nose at the strange sound the bottle made.
Once the mare's mane was coated with the liquid, Cara took her time in combing it out until the hair hung loosely down the left side of her neck. The liquid in the bottle was a mixture of water, baby oil, tea tree oil, lavender oil and a little rosemary oil. When the mane was brushed out, Cara spent some time putting it into a running braid so that it would sit nicely on the correct side of her neck when it was dry and brushed out again. She then repeated the process on the tail, she didn't plait the tail up however.
She placed the spray bottle down on the ground with the other things and picked up the bottle of lavender oil. Pouring a small amount of the liquid onto her hand, she placed the bottle down, rubbed the oil into her hands and then began to massage it through the mare's coat.

She smiled at him one of her million dollar white smiles. " I wouldn't just walk by this big boy" She said, Addy continued to stroke the roan's coat. Addy cast him a side glance studying his cowboy hat and boots. He seemed just like every other cowboy walking around her but something told Addison he was different. She slipped her hand into his, his hand was rougher than hers but that didn't mean hers weren't rough from all her days in the barns. His touch was warm and friendly she blushed the whole time he touched her before slipping her hand from his.
She listened as he asked her about running barrels. "I would need a really good teacher to teach me about barrels. I have never done it. kind of weird since i grew up around Kentucky huh/" Addison laughed. It was true she had never done anything remotely close to running barrels.

--- And she's watching him with those eyes,, And she's lovin' him with that body,, I just know it.
--- Avery kind of caught a glimpse of Cara carrying some bottles past to the stall his new mare was in, but he thought no conern of it. That horse needed all the grooming it could get. At least there were no cockel-burrs tangled up in it's mane or tail.
Shaking hands with Addy was different to say the least. Her hand was soft and smooth, and okay, it was all imagination, but there was a spark of something in his veins. He quickly turned to Prince. It was funny how horses always seemed to save awkward moments by just being... horses. He grinned crookedly as what she had to say next. His eyebrows rose in thought, "Ah, so what do you ride?" He just made that assumption since she was dressed like an urban day cowgirl, but of course she could be something entirely different. Avery felt his heart speed up, but he desperatly tried to keep cool, "I could show you a few tips. If you were ever interested," he offered, "I've been doing rodeos longer than I've been in school," he didn't want it to sound like he was bragging, he just wanted to get the point across that he could be a good teacher, and he just bought a roan that could do it with little training required.Notes: ^^ Horses: Here

Cara took her time massaging the oil into the mare's coat, allowing the horse to move her body under the girl's hand as the Mustang/Gypsy would know where the girl's hands needed to be more than the human. This is something she did with her own horses... well ponies... as it was a great way to not only bond, but to also get to know every inch of the horse while they were relaxed. You got to learn where all their natural bumps were, the parts that you could or couldn't touch and you also got to learn the animal's body temperature - which was always good for other days when you are looking for heat.
She could hear the voices of the mare's owner and Addison from not too far away as she caught snippets of their conversation. She was enjoying the privacy of being in the box with the mare. She moved up to the mare's head and began massaging her ears. "Where would I be if my life were different?" She asked the mare in a soft whisper. "Would I be doing all of this if my parents weren't... so far away?" These were questions she had started asking herself of late, the psychology course had opened a few doors to unanswered questions. The problem was, though, that she couldn't imagine her life being any different than it was. The idea of meeting someone, falling in love and living happily ever after? There is no happily ever after in her world.

Her heart did a back flip as her hand fel to her side the other one massaging the geldings neck with only the slightest of pressure in some places. "Both, but it really depends on the day which one i choose" Her eyes looked at him but then dropped back down, another blush continuing on her cheek. Avery was making her very nervous and he was very cute to say the least. She ruffled the beautiful roans mane before smiling back at Avery. "I would really like that" Addison said with a grin. She bent down then behind the geldings shoulder her hands putting a slight pressure on his legs. He seemed to have good leg muscles maybe he raced in the past or something of the sort. Jumping would have probably given him more powerful front legs but it seemed like this horse was a racer. Addison straightened back up patting the geldings side, "your a good buy huh boy" she said to the blue roan.

--- You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl,, I wish that I had Jessie's girl,, Where can I find a woman like that?
--- Avery nodded as the girl mentioned she, in fact, rode both disciplines. he was impressed, most people it was on or the other, like him. He would never be caught dead in an English saddle. She sure seemed to be blushing a lot, and she was quick to look away from his gaze. He couldn't help but think that maybe she thought he was attractive and good-looking. Well, perhaps if she saw him in the attire he wanted to be wearing, in the profession he wanted to be doing, she would change her mind. But, heck, he lived this fake life for his dad, why not a girl too?
His eyebrows rose as she accteped his offer. Then he quickly lowered them and tried not to act like he was surprised, "Great," he grinned crookedly. He chuckled lightly at her last comment, "Well, I'm gonna get him settled in and check on the mare. But, hopefully we can meet up later and start those lessons," he smiled.

Once the oil was all massaged into the mare's skin, the young girl wiped her hands on the legs of her jodhpurs, removing the oily feeling that was left on her palms, along with any hair that she had picked up statically. She smiled at the mare who seemed to be half asleep in the stall and gently tugged on one of the horse's chestnut coloured ears and the only responce she got with a small bob of the head before the mare released a contented sigh, inhaling the bitter but sweet scent of lavender that hung in the air of the stall. "You are very pretty." She whispered as she began to take the mare's golden mane out of the running braid and carefully brushed it out so that it sat flat against the right (rather than the left) side of the mare's neck. "You would make quite a pretty dressage mount, but we won't tell your owner that." Horses with stockings always stood out in the dressage arena as in top competitions you weren't allowed to bandage your mount's legs so the stocking were like a natural bandage and broke up the colour of the horse.

Addison could never keep eye contact with a cute guy, it just seemed like one of those horrible traits that she hated about herself. Her long pale fingers brushed her light hair from her face, her beautiful blue eyes soft with her care of the horse she was rubbing. His eyes seemed droop as he leaned one way as if dozing in the place he was standing. She giggled at the gelding he seemed so content near his new owner and Addison. She looked at Avery her white smile looking nervous as she stuttered a little her words from being so nervous around him. "Um um y-yea i guess i-i-i'll see ya la-later" She said patting the geldings neck before walking off slowly. She slapped her fore head with her delicate hand as she walked out of the stable. Addy took her hat off her blondish curls falling into their place perfectly. It seemed Addy never got hat hair and seemed to stay beautiful however she thought that she was completely ugly.
