A young lady drove restlessly with one hand, and propped herself up on her door with the other. The black ford truck was silent. No music. Which was rare for Alexis. She'd been waiting for this day for a long time. Well.... not that long, but it felt like forever since she received a letter that had said "accepted".
She took a deep breath as the academy came into view. She pulled into the parking lot, and took the keys out of the ignition. A whine came from the sheet covered back seat. She looked back at three huge duffel bags, and the adoring face of her Black Lab. "Oh Buddy." She reached her hand back, and scratched his muzzle. "Here goes nothin'. I'll be right back."
Alexis hesitantly glided out of the truck. The cool fall air whipped her, but she loved it. Reminded her of home. After taking in the scenery, she made her way into the office. AJ hated offices. They were quiet, and she felt like she always had to whisper. She didn't have to, but when she spoke it always sounded like she was yelling, because of the silence.
A lady was doing paper work at her desk. She looked up and smiled at Alex. "Can I help you?" Alexis walked over, and smiled. "I'm Alexis Johnson. I'm new here."
"Oh yes! Welcome to BRRA!" She pulled a chair out for Alexis. "I assume you've read the rules, and guidelines?"
"Yes ma'am."
"How this place could use more young ladies like yourself." The woman winked at Alexis. "You are in Red Ribbon House."
The woman took the paperwork Alexis had filled out, and handed her a key. "Thank you."
"No, thank you. If you need help, don't be afraid to come ask me darling."
"Okay. I probably will," Alexis giggled as she walked out the door, onto the grounds of her new home.
