I was going to do a nice long post on colours, but rather than reinventing the wheel, I found this really cool site that has horse colours on it and explains what different colours go into each one: z3.invisionfree.com/Hoof_Prince/ar/t38.htmMarkings Face Bald (white face): White that starts above the forehead, goes to the muzzle, and extends beyond the bridge of the nose to the side of the face Blaze: Wide white area that runs along the bridge of the nose Snip: White spot located on the muzzle, between or just below the nostrils Star: White spot on the forehead Stripe: Narrow white stripe down the center of the face, on the bridge of the nose Wall Eye: Horse with one (natural) blue eye Legs: Coronet: A small white band just above the hoof Half cannon: A white marking that extends from the edge of the hoof halfway up the middle of the leg Half pastern: A white marking that extends from the edge of the hoof halfway up the pastern Sock: A white marking that extends from edge of the hoof two-thirds of the way up the leg Stocking: A white marking that extends from edge of the hoof to the knee or hock

Okay, moving away from the horse terms - I will add some more things that I feel are needed - here are a few links that will help you with the creation of your characters' horses. Stuck on a show name? Have a look at Horse Name Generator and see if you can find something that catches your eye - remember the barn name doesn't always have to go with the show name. Stuck on personalities? Have a look at the Horse Personality Randomizer - Erri put me onto this site so you'll need to thank her. You'll need to use random.org with this one. Need info on horse/pony breeds? Check out List of horse breeds on Wikipedia Google Images is a great place to find horse pics because you can search for exactly what you want, just please make sure they don't have a copy-write symbol on them.
