Demeter eyed the chestnut mare in the yard in front of her. All she could see was a horse that was either full of worms or was pregnant and dangerously underweight.
She ducked under the wooden bar and straightened up on the inside of the yard, keeping herself still while the mare had a chance to eye up the intruder. "Hey pretty girl." She whispered as she held a hand out toward the horse.
After the mare had stretched her neck out and lipped her hand, Demi stepped forward and ran a gentle hand down the mare's neck as she made her way down to the mare's stomach.
After a thorough examination, the vet released a breath. It was just a nasty case of worms. She shook her head as she rubbed the mare's head. "I hope you get taken home by someone who loves you." She said, knowing that she would take the mare in an instant if she wasn't a vet with enough horses under her care.
Leaving the yard, she jotted down a few notes on the mare's sheet and headed down to the next horse, a brilliant jet black Hanoverian gelding.

Bethany was visiting the auction yards, she had been already bitten by one horse, oh yes, Bethany wanted them all, but at the Academy each pupil was only aloud five horses. The most calm and obedient horse was certainly Gentleman, the most disobedient horse out of Bethany's horses, was of course Silver Birch. Bethany was upset that she was banned from riding Silver Birch, because a while ago there was a mishap, she also was aloud to keep another one. She was looking around, until she saw a beautiful Dutch Warmblood. "Look how beautiful you are son!" Then, she saw a gorgeous, blue roan mare with a wall eye. "Now you are just sensational!". Bethany kindly rubbed the mare's nose. The blue roan mare nuzzled the girl, showing appreciation. Bethany stared up at the horse's light blue eye. "You're eye is so pretty, and you're personality is amazing, I'm going to call you Blue Blitz". This had to be Bethany's new horse. Bethany wondered what it would be like to ride such a sensation. Bethany needed this horse. Now that she saw the horse she wanted, she wandered what to do. This is what the horse looks like api.ning.com/files/TwzIpTmSrrO8xFj8acRP2Cey045MIMt4W9C*hzx9vFjYHGu4kCfzTLgqZeDqfkpyGBJF9OfGZnw0jCqtygqaQii6y7eZNFdM/DSC_8122a.jpgapi.ning.com/files/YokLcaPzDnEs84zv2vio2BzMx7jd6h4CpfhrpiI0Kn6aCcDQ9r0N9P0Du91MewG1tgbzb0tFemure5v7HKTzM9OTW32zRnul/DSC_8140a.jpg

Miranda raised an eyebrow at Cara's statement, but grinned as Cara promised to tell her all that she had seen later, "I still don't understand how you can tell that much from a few seconds." She grinned and moved away from the mare, leaving Cara to speak to Adrianna alone. She glanced at the next horse in the row, a blue roan mare. She leaned against the fence and watched the horse for a moment, seeing that it was nuzzling another girl. The girl looked slightly familiar, and Miranda remembered seeing her around campus, "You go to Blue Ridge, don't you?" She smiled as she held out her hand to the mare, running her eyes over the smooth body. The mare looked healthy enough, so Miranda didn't worry about the girl, even if she did decide to bring the mare home.
She smiled slightly at the girl and wandered over to the next pen, which held a warmblood. As the horse shifted, Miranda saw a few spots that looked suspicious, and she slipped under the rail to walk up to the gelding. She held out a hand to him to smell before stepping to his side and examining what was now obviously a small case of rain rot. She slipped back under the rail and pulled out her phone, sending a text to Demeter, "I found a horse with a bit of rain rot, should I treat him or mark it down somewhere or what?"

Adrianna nodded and then looked around, but Will had disappeared somewhere in the groups of people. She wasn't sure what he had told this girl, but it would be fun to look around at more horses. Perhaps Cara had misunderstood him, or he had meant if they found something, they might be able to take it home with them. Adrianna wasn't sure how this place worked, anyway. So many horses, just standing there.
As Cara asked about her riding lessons, Adrianna nodded eagerly, then began, "Quarry was teaching me to ride on G, he's really nice to me. He got his neck stuck trying to be petted, though." As she imparted this -vital- bit of information, she grinned at Cara, "He got out again, though. Quarry let me trot on him and everything, but I can't jump yet." She thought for a minute about what her favorite horse color was, then replied, "Cow horses, like this one." She gestured to the Gypsy, referring to the piebald coloring in her unofficial terms.
As Cara started walking away, towards the smaller horses, Adrianna followed her like a puppy, "They aren't as big as G is, but Quarry said G was too big anyway." She looked at the ponies, grinning at the large numbers there were.

Cara nodded her head as she listened to Adrianna, she laughed at the story of Quarry's gelding getting his head stuck while getting a pat. "So, we will want to look for a nice all rounder for you." She said. "That's a pony that can do everything. And if possible, a cow pony." She knew that in her own time, the girl would learn that each of the colours had a special name and black and white horses were called; piebalds. She looked over each pony as they walked passed, making a note of the ones that needed to be checked over again once she had helped Adrianna find a suitable mount. "What about this one?" She asked as she came to a stop outside the yard of a pretty piebald Cob mare. Cara lifted the card to read over the pony's information. "She's fourteen, one hands. Which is good cause you'll grow into her and she's not too little for her to be exercised by older riders if you need help." She frowned as she read the age. "We'll need to talk to your uncle though. She's only six and a half, which makes her quite young." Cara looked up as she felt a breath and smiled as the mare breathed over them. She lifted a hand and rubbed the pony's forehead. The mare looked her age, but she had a wonderful disposition and a beautiful face. She stepped back so that Adrianna could have a look at the mare without feeling like the girl was breathing down her neck. She glanced around at the other ponies around them, her eyes landing on a small silver dapple Gypsy Vanner who was hiding at the back of her yard, flinching every time someone walked back. The girl's heart went out to the little pony with her clamped tail and lowered head, even her ears seemed to tremble in fear. She wanted to go over and have a closer look, but right now her priority was the young girl in front of the piebald mare.

OOC: Was it my turn after that long, well I hope it is.
Bethany was staring up at Blue Blitz, looking at how gorgeous the mare was. She ran her hand down the mare's soft, furry head.Oh yes, I go to Blue Ridge, I suppose you do as well? Bethany had asked kindly, but quietly, she was more concentrated on the mare, trying to figure out what breed she is. "Hmm.. I can't seem to figure out what breed she is". Bethany said to the girl, but noticed she had wandered off to the Dutch Warmblood. Bethany then noticed the girl take out her mobile and text somebody.' Is there something wrong with that particular horse, oh what on earth is wrong with him, he looks fine and dandy to me'. Bethany thought to herself while examining the animal, trying to find out what's wrong.
She knew that she was rubbish at all the equine vetting stuff anyway, and would never make herself useful, Bethany wasn't very interested in vets and all that. The mare suddenly nudged Bethany, looking for some more attention."Haha, I see you girl, I hope so much that I'm going take you home". Bethany wanted to look at the other horses, but didn't want to leave Blue Blitz side.

Adrianna nodded, "Everything? Will it be able to fly?" To her seven-year-old mind, it made sense. If a horse could do everything, it should be able to fly, shouldn't it? She followed Cara through the aisles of ponies, looking left and right, her brown eyes taking in all of the animals. As Cara walked up to the pen of one, she hurried over, "She's pretty!" She held a pudgy hand through the bars of the railing to touch the mare, "That's almost as old as me!" She looked over at Cara, "Why is she taller than me, if she's younger?" The pony dropped her head and sniffed at the girl's hand, and Adrianna rubbed it's soft fur, "She's nice, though." The pony snorted, and Adrianna laughed, "She has a cold!" She stuck both of her arms into the pen and hugged the mare's face. The mare snorted again and raised her head out of the girl's reach, but stayed where she was. Adrianna looked up at the pony, "Come back, horsey." She reached up with one hand, and the mare consented to bend her head back down to be petted, "I like her." Adrianna smiled up at Cara. OOC;: Love Adrianna around horses. :- P She's so fun to play

Demeter felt her phone and pulled it out of her pocket. Flipping it open she read Miranda's message before she flipped the phone closed and headed in the direction of the mentioned yard - knowing that it would be so much faster just to head over there then to send a reply.
She smiled at another student she recognised from the Academy who was standing with an American Saddlebred Sporthorse - a very nice looking animal. "I'll come back and give her a vet check once I've had a look at the guy Miranda has found." She knew that rain rot was something that normally didn't need a second look, but she wanted to make sure there wasn't any sign of infection.
She headed over to her younger vet student. "Hey big guy." She said as she offered the Warmblood her hand before she ducked under his fence and stepped over to the gelding's shoulder. "So, what are we looking at?" She asked, she was going to turn this into a small lesson while she was here.

Cara laughed at the girl's question. "Maybe over jumps." She replied without missing a beat. "However, if you find Pegasus, keep it to yourself. He only shows himself to really special people." Sure, Cara didn't read fiction books, but she still knew all the tales that had to do with horses. And unicorns and Pegasus were said to only ever show themselves to really special people.
The girl smiled at the openly innocent question. "She's bigger than you now because she was bigger than you when she was born." She replied. "And if she was smaller than you, you wouldn't be able to ride her."
She watched pony and child interact, already watching a bond form between the two youngsters. All she had to do now was convince the girl's uncle that even though the mare was only six she would make the perfect mount for the young girl. She wondered if she should get Dr Carr to come and have a look at the mare, as she knew that the woman's opinion on the mare would go a lot further than hers.
Her attention was caught by the silver dapple mare once again. The mare wasn't running around her small yard, nor was she attacking the people walking passed. It was the fact the the closer people go to her, the father away from them she wanted to be - a feeling Cara knew all too well - she wasn't quite sure what it was about the pony that pulled her attention to it time and time again.
Bringing her attention back to the Cob mare she ducked under the rail and walked up to the piebald's side. "Come on beautiful." She said as she ran her hand over the mare's shoulder and down her leg. "Pick it up." She gently squeezed on either side of the pastern and smiled as the mare lifted her hoof off the ground. Cara repeated the process on each leg, checking that the mare wasn't likely to kick out when asked to lift her back legs - as many equines were known to do so. "There's a good girl." She said as she stood by the shoulder on the other side from where she had started.
After she had run her hands over every inch of the pretty cob, checking for lumps, heat, sore spots and the like, she turned her attention back to the girl. "What colour things would you get for her?" She asked as she ducked back under the rail to once again stand beside Adrianna. And even though the girl was getting riding lessons from Quarry, Cara would love the chance to teach the girl how to handle the horse from the ground.

Bethany rubbed the mare's long, soft mane. Bethany thought the animal was stunning. Bethany wanted to take this mare home. Suddenly, the girl remembered that she had forgotten a horse box! The girl rubbed her head in annoyance. The girl was such a scatterbrain. She couldn't believe she went to bye a horse with permission, and had forgotten a box to bring her what seemed to be mare. Bethany thought that she didn't have enough time to go back to Blue Ridge and get her trailer, then come back and but the mare. Why did the auction be out of town? The girl was lost, she sighed at the mare. 'Maybe I could ask if someone could lend me a horse trailer? But I highly doubt it' Bethany thought in her head, and she then whispered to the horse, Bethany noticed that the stunning animal looked different Bethany noticed that the horse was more of a silver dapple colour. The girl looked at the equine vet who had walked in, looking at the Dutch Warmblood. 'Is there something wrong with this boy?' Bethany asked herself in her head. She nodded as she listened clearly to what the vet was saying, she also looked rather familiar. This was the girl's chance to ask for a one time borrow of a horse trailer, "Oh, yes Ma'am. I was also wondering, if use possibly have a use of a horse trailer, if you possibly have one, that is.OOC: Sorry for the sudden pic change: fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/237/e/2/she_knows_she__s_beautiful_by_loveravenwood-d47tbqv.jpg

Miranda laughed and rolled her eyes good naturedly, "Lesson time?" She stepped up from where she had been waiting and walked back to the gelding. She grinned at Dr. Carr, then waved her hand over the gelding's shoulder and barrel, indicating the patches she had noticed, "It looks to me like it isn't too advanced yet, but I was wondering what to do about it. I didn't want to just treat it outright, so my next thought was to write it down somewhere, but then, I wasn't sure." She trailed off, knowing that she had already shown how new she was to treating auction animals. She didn't let herself feel stupid, though. It was her first time, and she still had a lot she wanted to learn about the entire veterinary profession. She glanced at the gelding, who was watching them, but hadn't yet moved, then turned her attention back to Dr. Carr, waiting for the professional to speak. She hoped the rain rot wouldn't keep someone from buying the gelding. He deserved a good home just as much as the next horse.

Adrianna nodded solemnly, "He might get scared away." She looked at Cara, "He might visit you instead. You know more about horses." She imagined a blue horse with wings flying down next to Cara and laughed slightly.
"That makes sense." She peered up at the pony, "You must have been one big baby, horsey." She smiled, "But I love you anyway." She grinned at Cara, "Otherwise she might try to ride me!"
She watched Cara duck under the fence and pick up each of the pony's feet in turn, "Why are you checking that she can lift her feet up? Wouldn't she have to do that to walk?" The pony hadn't been rolled into the pen, for sure.
Adrianna considered the question for a moment, thinking about which color would look nicest with the mare's coloring, "I think I would get her light purple pink things. She'd be the prettiest horse in the whole school!" She nodded resolutely, "And a black saddle, because it would match her spots." She rubbed the mare's cheek, "You'd like purple things, right, Moo?" The odd name seemed fitting, since the mare was a 'cow' pony.

Demeter looked at the gelding's skin, her lips pressed together in concentration, but making sure not to touch the horse. "Write it down on his sheet over there." She said pointing toward the sheet with the horse's information. "And I also want you to treat it." She opened up her vet bag and pulled out some hand sanitiser and some latex gloves. "But first off, we protect you." She held both out toward the girl. "After you've finished here, you will need to go and scrub your hands and arms so you don't chance spreading the Dermatophilus congolensis bacteria to others." She gave the girl a soft smile. "And it stops you from catching streptothricosis to. In the next couple of days if you start to feel itchy or fluy, I want you to promise me that you'll go and see the doctor straight away."
She then went into her bag again and pulled out a bottle of povidone-iodine. "Spray this all over the infected area and the surrounding area." Make sure to wear the gloves as the stuff will stain your hands and I'm sure you don't want to spend the rest of the day walking around with yellow hands.
She looked over at the sound of another female's voice, and recognised her as the one with the Saddlebred Sporthorse. "I will no doubt have room in my trailer for another horse so sure she can hitch a ride with us. She would need to come to the clinic before she was allowed in the barns anyway." She replied softly.

Cara looked at Ria. "I'm going to tell you something that you always need to remember, it's something a man called Pat Parelli said; A doesn't care how much you know, until he knows how much you care." She gave a soft smile. "You can have all the horse knowledge in the world, and your horse could still hate you if you didn't show the horse how much you loved him or her."
She smiled at the question about picking up the pony's feet. "Yes she does pick her feet up to walk." She replied. "But I wanted to see how well she picks her feet up so they can be cleaned and for when the farrier needs to trim them and put shoes on if she's going to wear them." None of her own horses were shod, but she knew that some people just had to have shoes put on their horses.
"Moo?" She repeated. "And yes, I think she'd look stunning in a light purple." She agreed. "I wonder where your uncle is?" She jumped as a shadow fell over them and she took a step back as she turned around and looked up at a rather tall man.
"Can I help you?" The auctioneer asked as he held a clipboard in his hand.
"Yes, I would like to have a ride on this mare." There was a slight squeak in Cara's voice as she tried to sound confident.
"Go and find your daddies and then come back!" The man barked. "Little kiddies shouldn't be running around unsupervised." And with that he strode off, making down the mare's number.

Bethany hadn't seen a mare that beautiful in her life, in other words, the girl had never seen a American Saddlebred as beautiful as this one. The mare had such a long mane, it was unbelievable. She smiled up at the horse. 'Looks like I will be taking you home, girl' Bethany thought slightly in her head, but was more concentrated. Dermatophilus congolensisy-what? That sounds like some sort of disease She thought in her head, the fifteen year-old was also pleased that the equine vet was going to take her 'soon going to be' horse to the clinic for a safe check-up.
The girl glanced at the some sort of bottle that you spray. Blue Blitz nudged the girl's hands attentively. Bethany then remembered that she had been told to seek out Dr Carr, in case the girl had damaged her dapple grey gelding back at the Academy."Miss, could you possibly look over Silver Birch, my gelding when I get back to Blue Ridge?" Bethany asked sadly, while sighing. Bethany wondered what Blue Blitz's would be best at maybe show-jumping, or dressage, or- there was various things that this horse would be good at. She wanted to ride her soon going to be horse. The girl thought that she was going to be a calm a peaceful mount.
