After classes, Sara hurried back to her room. She enjoyed the single room, although she sometimes missed the chatter of a roommate. She dropped her backpack onto her bed and bent to take off Cinder's vest and give him the "off-duty" command before hurrying to jump under the shower. The reining class had left her with dust in her hair, and she just felt overall grimy. After a quick shower, Sara got dressed, slipping into her cheer uniform. She checked out her reflection in the mirror before using a black ponytail holder to twist up her still-wet hair. She clipped the red, white, and black bow into her hair, then applied a few touches of makeup. Heading back out of her bathroom, Sara glanced at the clock before calling to Cinder. She clipped on the dog's vest again, exchanging the black vest for a red one that matched the team uniform. She clipped the leather lead to Cinder's collar, but made no move to slip her hand into the loop, letting the eight-inch tab dangle from the dog's neck. She picked up her loose track pants and a jacket and slipped into them, pulling them over her uniform. Once she was dressed, she grabbed her backpack, which held a first-aid kit and a few other essentials, then slung it over her shoulder. After arriving at the field, Sara looked around, then dropped her backpack along the fence. She called Cinder to lie down by her stuff, then slipped out of her track suit and folded it by her backpack. Realizing that she was, not surprisingly, the first to arrive, Sara set out to start stretching, just until everyone arrived. Outfit!

Waking up from her short nap, Isabel stretched her long arms. Recently, she had disappeared, and gone on an unneeded vacation. Now she was back, and, well, she just hoped she wasn't leaving any sooner. The reason was unknown, and Iz didn't feel like answering any questions. Shrugging it off, Iz swung her legs over the side of the bed, it was clear she had changed over time. She had grown, surprisingly, and there were other changes to herself, mentally and physically. Iz had been a cheerleader at her other school, and thought, why not be one at Blue Ridge? At her other school, Trenton High, Isabel had been head cheerleader, who knew what would happen here. They probably already had a head cheerleader, but from what she heard, they didn't even have a coach yet. Surprise, surprise, her mother would probably march out there and coach them as soon as she caught word, being a coach in many sports including cheerleading and using it as an excuse to monitor Isabel. Pushing herself up, Iz did her usual after-sleep stretches then went to the bathroom to get ready. Brushing her teeth, as always, no matter what time of the day, Isabel looked at her hair and ran her fingers through it a couple of times to see what was up with it, as it usually went crazy after she slept, no matter how long. It looked as though it was spazzing out, but after about ten or so minutes, it calmed down to usual pretty Isabel hair.
Being that Iz had to go to cheerleading, she got out her clothes. She knew most would be like, who's this girl, but she was a new cheerleader. So, being that she had yet to receive the cheerleading uniform, Iz improvised and wore a usual athletic shirt and shorts. Her hair was naturally in a slight curve, so after spending time brushing it, she just let it do it's own thing. After washing her face and getting ready, she slipped on her white shoes. After getting herself ready, Iz set out to practice, usually she was the first one there, but it wouldn't surprise her if the head cheerleader was there, who ever they were. They wouldn't get in the way of what she was doing. Or so she thought. Walking down the hall ways, Isabel had her water bottle and was eating an apple at the moment. Finishing the apple, Isabel dropped the core into a trash bin and continued on her way to the field. Upon arrival, Iz caught sight of someone she did not want to see.
Sara.
Oh great, that girl was a cheerleader? No Iz, don't make trouble.... no trouble. Isabel's eyes searched over the dog, it looked fit, non-neglected or beaten. Thank goodness. Stopping near Sara, Iz gave a sort of half wave with her fingers and began her stretches. Every fiber of her body itched to give some smart remark, but Iz was slowly gaining more and more self control. Hopefully, this would be no problem. Hopefully.... Watching the girl, Sara, as she began her stretches and did them to better than high expectations, Iz grimaced. Hours to days to months, with that chick. Who knew what could happen?

Erica hummed the tune of a well known Christmas song, Let it Snow. She couldn't wait, until the holiday has arrived. She was thinking about visiting her family back in her hometown during that time. 'Ahem, what about your bad history there?' Her mind popped the question in her as her eyes widened in surprise. Of course, there's always a downside to everything. "Nothing is a drag.." She muttered to herself as she started to get her stuff ready for cheer today. At least there's one good thing happening today.
She grabbed her gym bag from her room. The normal bag she always used for this time of day. She stuffed her water bottle, phone, and some few extra things. She slipped into her cheer leading uniform and went over to the bathroom to get started on her hair. As always she tied her hair back, she decided that today she put her blonde hair into a some what nice bun. Better than nothing. She quickly tied it in so it wouldn't slip out. She clipped on a matching bow into her bun and added a thin layer of lip gloss. Not being too much of a make up person herself. She walked out and covered her cheer uniform with navy blue sweat pants and a nice warm jacket for the cold weather.
As she set out of the Blue Ribbon housings over to the field. On her way, she spotted two girls. Sara, obviously, but another girl she never seen before. She wondered if she was new or something to this school. She just shrugged and went with it. She could tell the girl was wanting to sign up for the cheer squad, telling by her outfit. She wasn't wearing the natural cheer leading squad uniform. She entered the field, slightly cautious before passing by the girl. She waved to Sara as she passed before placing her gym bag on one of the benches. She shed off her sweat pants and took off her jacket to show her uniform. She later stuffed them in her bag. Luckily the uniform wasn't as much as a short sleeved kind of outfit. Then she would have been cold out here.
She walked over, near where Sara was and grinned towards her. "Hey Sara" She softly told her before joining her in some stretches. Sometimes glancing at the random girl here once, every moment. Although she has never met her, she's still curious what that girl has to offer to the squad. She kept an eye on the field entrance, waiting for the others to arrive.

Cortney sat quietly in her dorm room. She had been here all afternoon alone, as the other students had riding classes. The girl looked in the corner where her puppy's things had been. She shook her head. No, not my puppy. she silently told herself. She's back with her owners. The tea-cup puppy's owners had contacted her a week ago and were able to tell her over the phone every marking the puppy had, including the white patch under the puppy's left hip.
She looked at her Hello Kitty alarm clock and jumped to her feet. She needed to get changed and head down to the field for cheer practice. Grabbing her uniform out of the closet, she walked into the bathroom and quickly got changed before she pulled her brown hair up into a high pony tail and then pulled her tracksuit over the top of her uniform.
Heading out of the House, she headed down to the field and had a big smile on her face before she reached where their captain and a couple of other girls were already stretching. "Hey Sara and Erica." She greeted the two people that she knew as she slipped out of her tracksuit and tossed her gym bag to the side before she dropped onto the ground and also started stretching. It was times like this that she was glad for all of her dance training, as warming up was easy for her.

Sara had just finished one of her stretches and was moving on to the next when she caught a glimpse of someone she had not expected, nor wanted, to see here. Ignoring Isabel for a while, although she could see the small wave that the girl gave her. As Erica arrived, Sara smiled at the other girl, "Hey Erica." She moved fluidly into her next stretch, feeling the motion in her arms, and then glanced up when she heard her name being spoken again. She smiled at Cortney, the youngest on their team, and greeted her warmly, all while continuing her stretches. After giving herself a few more minutes to finish her own stretches, Sara slowly walked over to Isabel and stood beside her for a moment before she spoke, "Come talk to me later so that I can get your sizes for the uniform. What would you say that you're the best at, in cheer, and what experience do you have?" After her conversation with the new girl, Sara glanced at her watch. It had been ten minutes since practice had 'officially' started, so now was as good a time as any to start team practice. She walked back to the front of the field, working her arms in a few large circles as she walked, then smiled at the team that had assembled, "Alright, I guess anyone who isn't here isn't coming, or should better hope they get here in a nanosecond." She had noticed a few absences, but only one of the missing faces had cleared his absence with her, their only male cheerleader at the moment. She smiled at the team, "Okay, let's just keep up the work on our routine, it's coming together really nicely, but there's a few things that need to be tweaked a tiny bit." She clapped her hands, grinning, "Places!" Before skipping to her position, she turned to Isabel, "Why don't you watch once, so that you get the gist of it, and then we'll find a place for you?" Still using this cheer for reference. Secret, I'm having Iz sit out because I don't have an answer to Sara's first questions.

Lucy got into her dorm room rushing quickly; she was going to be a minute or two late but she had lost track after class. She would be fine; placing her hair into a high ponytail, she was ready to go. Except for her clothes. She quickly changed into something appropriate for Cheer.
Hightailing it out of her dormroom; Lucy was racing to the field she had pep in her step and a smile on her face. Sara and most of the girls were already there including a new girl. She had missed the last scheduled pratice but wasn't aware that there had been a new member on the squad.
Placing her bag down on the side of the field where it wouldn't be harmful, Lucy started over to the group catching Sara's words about the nanosecond. Well at least it was better than being ten or fifteen minutes late; that would be bad. She fully respected Sara and didn't want her to think anything bad of her, but it was her team and she wanted everyone in order.
She listened to Sara's instructions and she knew that herself would be sitting on the bench.

Isabel ignored Sara partially, excluding her small, sparing wave in her direction. Really, Iz didn't give a care in the world that Sara would be here. As long as there was no clashing, things would be..... all right for a little bit. Iz continued her stretches, unfazed, but every now and then would steal a look to the dog, Cinder, thorougly checking the dog with her eyes and doing it sneakily so Sara wouldn't see. Continuing her stretches, she passed through each one easily, and watched as new girls came. One girl named Erica, and the other Courtney from what she heard. Looking around, Iz thought to herself This is it? I remember our team being too big at my old school. She sighed, maybe they were just starting out. Glancing around, Isabel inspected everyone, they seemed okay, she would just have to wait to see them actually do their routine. It would be neat seeing them perform. Iz explored her thoughts more and ventured through the low population of the team again. Perhaps some of them were missing. Hearing Sara, she figured yes and then looked up as she came to stand beside her and talk to her. Isabel straightened her frame and look Sara in the eyes. Sighing, Isabel nodded and gave a quick, forward answer. Okay. I'm a flyer, I have a lot of experiences, I have been cheering since I was a kid and was Head Cheerleader at my old school. Isabel looked around and watched as Sara kind of rounded them up. Looking at Sara, Isabel nodded Okay. Isabel sighed, Sara was most likely the head cheerleader asking for sizes and kind of commanding them to do things. Isabel walked over to the bench and sat, down, watching and waiting to see if she would be impressed enough to stay.

Erica continued stretching as Sara went over with the girl. She slightly heard their conversation. She knew it wasn't right to eavesdrop, but sometimes she can't help it. Luckily what they were talking about was just about the new girl's skills. She spotted Courtney and smile to her. Currently in a split, trying to stretch her legs. "Hey Courtney!" She said in her kind voice as she continued to stretch, before swinging her arms for the warm up, always making sure she wasn't hitting anyone else. She then spotted Lucy and gave a wave to her before continuing her stretch.
She watched as Sara came back and talked about how they were going to work on their routine. She gave a light chuckle towards the head cheerleader's comment about anyone coming in within a nanosecond. Might be impossible, but the impossible can be possible. So she shouldn't doubt anything. She then heard as the girl gave orders to the group. She gave a nod in understanding and went to her position without hesitation.
She then wondered what they were going to learn today. Obviously something that had to do with the routine. So she shouldn't really question it so much. She then glanced over to the girl at the benches. Watching them. She wondered if she was going to join the squad. Well if she came, she must want to. She seemed to have some potential. So maybe she should just leave it alone and continue on at the task at hand.

Cortney grinned as Erica and Sara both returned her greeting as she carefully made sure that she stretched out each different muscle group in her body - after all, the last thing she needed was to forget some muscle and then pull a tendon while practising the routine. When she was please with how loose her body now felt, she rose to her feet and jogging forward a couple of steps she went into a handspring, followed by a front tuck. Landing on her feet she grinned from ear to ear and nodded. Yup, she was ready. She arched an eyebrow as she thought about joining gymnastics. She had no interest in competing, but she knew that it would help with her cheer moves. However, she didn't have any more time to think about signing up for gymnastics as Sara called them in, she jogged over to their captain and listened as she told them what was happening. She had been working on the routine at all chances she could find - which was quiet easy since she didn't have any equestrian classes - although she wouldn't say that she knew it so we she could do it in her sleep. At the word, she skipped to her place in the routine and waited for the girl in charge to count them in and they could get started. Posting order: Sara Isabel (though secret is going to be away for a couple of weeks) Erica Cortney Lucy Chris (who is also currently away as stated on Leaving Board)

Sara nodded at Isabel's answers to her questions, although she pursed her lips at the girl's presumption. She briefly ran through a list of positions that she could put Isabel into instead of one of her other team members. It was only a try-out, although she couldn't believe that this girl would let them down, especially not with the rivalry, enmity, whatever it was, between the pair of them.
As Lucy arrived, just at the end of her speech, Sara caught the girl in a stare, then nodded over to the bench. She had enough cheerleaders for their routine even without the girl, who showed up late, if she showed up at all. Thinking of something, she added on to her speech, "Anyone who misses a practice without letting me know, don't bother showing up anymore. If you don't care enough to make practice, then don't." She moved her gaze from girl to girl, letting all of them know that it applied to everyone.
After the rest of the team had gathered into their starting positions and she had set up the sound system that they used, which was tiny in comparison to the field, but the best she had at the moment, Sara started the CD and walked to where she started, smiling broadly, just as if she were at a competition. Taking a deep breath, she called out, "Five, six, seven, eight!" After reaching the last syllable, she launched into her routine, counting in her head, making sure that she was right on count. While most of her attention was on what she was doing, she had rehearsed the routine enough that she could do it with half of her attention, and she also watched the rest of the team, making tiny notes on some little tweaks she wanted to check on after the end.

Erica looked over as she spotted Lucy arriving at the field. She glanced from Sara as she nodded towards the bench and then over towards Lucy. She could give a guess that she was going to sit out on the routine if Sara was gesturing towards the bench. She could be wrong. She was kind of glad she wasn't late. She enjoyed this routine and wouldn't just want to sit and watch. It just seemed too boring then actually doing something. Sitting may be something and so may be watching, but she would consider actually doing the task.
She focused back on Sara and listened to her final announcement before they got started. She got a bit of a shiver at her added on message. Missing a practice was just pretty much getting yourself kicked off the team. Not from the own head cheerleader. She gave a firm nod towards Sara as she gave a look, which this message applied for the whole team. No cheer for the rest of her life here at Blue Ridge? She pretty much loved cheer leading ever since she met Sara. Now she knew that she had to step up her game and give the best she got to show up for practice. Except if she has a good reason to not show up.
After standing a while in her position, waiting for the others, she looked over towards Sara. Waiting for their cue. She heard the CD start and then got her confidence. She gave a winning smile, even if it was just a practice. She wanted to act as if she was at a real competition, so she could get ready for the actual moment. She heard the team's count. "Five, six, seven, eight!" She heard the last count and got started the same time as the rest of the team should. Trying not to hesitate on the moves. Making sure they flowed along. She has practiced the routine whenever she could. So she knew she would at least get the basic for now. She kept the counting smooth in her head and focused on herself. Not the others, unless she wanted to get distracted easily and mess up.

Right at this moment, nothing matter to Cortney but where she was supposed to be and waiting for the music to start. She went into the zone she used to retreat into while keeping her pony steady in the starting gate of a cross country course. A place where she was no longer part of anything but where she was, but also able to hear the two things she was tuned in for; the music and the squad captain's voice. She inhaled and exhaled as the music started as as soon as she heard Sara count them in, this was it. A brilliant smile lit up the girl's face, almost giving a glow to her entire being - her and Myriam used to joke about it being a twinning power - and she flowed through the moves that made up the routine, keeping up a silent count for herself: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight. She always thought that counting beats for dancing was so funny where there were only four beats in a bar of music, so that they were doing was counting out two bars at a time. Tag Lucy

Post by Samantha 'Samie' DeVere on Jan 13, 2013 20:40:58 GMT -6
Samie groaned, frustrated with herself as she rushed over to her room in a fast walking pace. She was going to be at least five minutes late. At this pace, maybe even ten minutes. She has never been this late before. She has been late, but not that late. It just depends on the personality of who's in charge of the whole cheer squad. Maybe let her off the hook, just once? It's not the time to pause and think at the moment. It's a time to hurry over there with still a reasonable amount of time to being tardy. 'I'll just be fashionably late' She thought to herself with a soft chuckle.
Arriving at her room just in time. She quickly threw on a pale yellow tank top, one of those athletic ones, some capris sweat pants, and changed into tennis shoes. She tied the laces and grabs her gym bag to pack some of her stuff. She knew she wouldn't have to pack as much, since this was her first practice since she arrived. So she may not need to do as much, besides try out. If that was needed. She threw in some extra track clothes, her keys, a water bottle, and unsure what else to pack. She just left it as is, right there. She checked one more moment before quickly heading out the door. Tying her hair in a secure high ponytail on the way.
She saw the field come to view. She hesitated to open the gate, telling by how she was about ten minutes late. (Although she was only eight minutes to be exact) She gazed over and watched for a moment as the cheerleading squad was doing their routine. She ran a hand through her slightly messy high ponytail, as well as curled in the ends. She adored curly ponytails. She finally took the chance and allowed herself to enter. She was unsure who was the head cheerleader, but knows she will have some serious competition. Just like back in Arizona when she, herself, tried to get the position as head cheerleader in the cheer squad. Hey, queen bees are meant to do cheerleading. She might just be able to tell who the head cheerleader might be, probably somewhere near the front. Since they are mostly the center of attention, compared to the rest. She just walked around the outside of the field over to the benches. Where two girls are already sitting at. Well, one was near the benches and the other was, but she knew the one near the benches will be sitting down. Since she wasn't with the squad.
She looked around at the size of the squad. It was fair enough. Though back in Arizona, almost all the girls wanted to be cheerleaders. They wanted the popularity as much as her back then. She just rolled her eyes and sat on one of the empty benches. She didn't feel like company at the moment. She placed the gym bag on the bench and silently watched their routine. It was interesting, yes. Though it may need some work. This was unlike her, interested in little, but none the less, boring things and being afraid of someone she doesn't know yet. She needed to step up her game, she knows. Though she just arrived. So really, what is she tuned in for today?
