HOOKED ON HENRY The BasicsShow Name: Hooked On Henry Barn Name: Henry Age: 10 Gender: Gelding Breed: Thoroughbred Breed Registry: The Jockey Club The AppearanceCoat Color: Palomino Stable Color: Olive Drab Height: 16.1hh The PersonalityPersonality: Henry a Thoroughbred, so naturally, he's hotblooded. He has a big personality. He has a lot of energy, and loves to gallop around the pasture the second he is turned out. He loves any type of riding that includes going fast, so cross-country works perfect for him. He is not for beginning riders-- he needs a rider with experience on how to handle a fireball like him. All of his gaits are exaggerated and big. He doesn't really have a "slow pace". He is pretty "high strung", and needs someone with strong hands. He nickers at just about everyone who walks past his stall. Caution Around: Loud voices, sudden movements The HistoryBasic History: Henry was born and raised on a Thoroughbred racing farm in Saratoga, New York. He raced for about 2 years, and he wasn't really winning anything. He wasn't dead last or anything, he just wasn't any sort of racing prospect. Sonja's dad, a stablehand at the stable, persuaded his boss to sell him Henry for his daughter to ride, as his daughter had just recently given up exercising race horses, and was starting jumping. Henry was retrained to jump, while keeping an element of racing in, by doing cross-country. The TechnicalitiesDiscipline: Eventing (Cross-country is his best) / Racing Owner: Sonja Stokes Rider: Sonja

RENAISSANCE MAN The BasicsShow Name: Renaissance Man Barn Name: Donatello Age: 12 Gender: Gelding Breed: Thoroughbred Breed Registry: The Jockey Club The AppearanceCoat Color: Bay with gulastra plume Stable Color: Olive DrabHeight: 16.2hh The PersonalityPersonality: Despite Donatello being an off the track Thoroughbred, he is less energetic and is relatively calm, in comparison to other hot blooded horses with similar backgrounds. When standing still for too long, however, he tends to get pretty antsy, so he needs to be moving around frequently, to avoid over stressing. He is extremely loving, and a hard worker. Caution Around: Small animals The HistoryBasic History: Donatello was born on a racehorse farm in Saratoga, New York, where Sonja's dad worked. He was trained to race, and raced for about a year and a half. He didn't really do anything incredible, so his owners pulled him out and retrained him in English pleasure and jumping, to resell. No one really showed any interest in purchasing an English pleasure horse at the time, so the owners kept him for their daughter to ride around. She rode Dressage, so she worked with a trainer to show him the ropes of Dressage. After 4 years, the daughter and Donatello were showing all over New York in Dressage shows. Since Donatello had been trained to jump, she figured she may as well try her hand in eventing. But, about a year after starting to work with Donatello, she went off to college, leaving him behind. Sonja's dad, who had purchased his daughter an eventing gelding from the same stable a two years prior, had just decided to send his daughter to Blue Ridge Academy, a prestigious boarding school and riding Academy. To surprise Sonja, he purchased Donatello, and shipped him along with Sonja's current horse to Blue Ridge.
