Dearest Tatiana,
I must apologize for my lack of correspondence, life here at the Academy has been busy, especially now. I have been well, although, as I mentioned, my time at the moment is limited. Some of the mares that I have been given for my class have foaled, and more are nearing their date as well. I suppose America is fine, Knight is adapting to the weather, and Mei doesn't seem to have had a bad transition. Please tell your grandfather that I miss hunting with him as well, and make sure to thank your mother. I was unable to travel far over the break, for fear of one of the mares dropping her foal while I was gone.
As to the weather, yes, we have had our first snowfalls here as well. There isn't much more than a dusting at the moment, but the weather reports are predicting more snow soon. I wish I were there to see the fields of home, I know they always were beautiful, covered in snow around this time.
Congratulations on placing so well! It's wonderful to hear that you are taking after your grandfather, he is a wonderful horseman, and I have no doubt that you'll follow in his footsteps in that regard. A horse of your own is a big step, but with what you've told me, I'm sure you are ready for it. Make sure to let me know when you get her, and perhaps send a picture! Perhaps, if your mother would allow you to move across the pond, consider attending Blue Ridge for schooling? They have a wonderful academic program, and if you wanted to further your riding career, this would be the place to do it.
Yes, I have heard the news about Thomas, although I don't mind hearing it again. Has he been getting into a lot of trouble, then, away from home? Hopefully he toes the line, I doubt his school would be a very good one to attend with a lesser income.
I am sorry to hear that you have stopped ballet, but if you feel that your heart is pulling you to riding more, then I don't doubt you made the correct decision. Don't ever regret your choices, and your mother will come around in time.
Pardon me for the long time it took to reply to your letter, not shortened in the least by the amount of time it will take for this to find its way to you. My best to your mother and grandfather.
Sincerely, Sir Peter Solomon
