Monique stood at the front of her classroom. As always, the tables were pushed to the edges of the room - they could still be used, but they normally weren't. Scattered around the floor were a number of bean bags, the most common place that the students chose to lounge during her class. Being a drama teacher, she guessed, make her a little more casual than a regular academic teacher, but she demanded no less respect nor did she expect any less amount of work from her students. However, unlike most teachers, she hadn't exactly formed a lesson plan. She had a few ideas of what she would like to do, but she was going to turn it into an open discussion for the students, they would get to have some input on what they wanted to study this semester. Picking up a whiteboard marker, she headed over to the board and in large letter wrote Welcome in a large curve across the top of the board. Under this she began to write up a handful of suggestions that they were going to talk about - Monologues
- Two-person plays
- Shakespeare
- Elizabethan
- Modern
- Musicals

Milisa had been extremely excited for this class, she loved to act, but never really token a drama class. She hoped she could be just as good as some of her favorite actors and actresses some day including, Taylor Launter. Just thinking of him made her smile. She pinched her self and flashed back to reality. She slipped on black heels and headed out the door. She thought she was running super late. So she quickly jogged the way their. Her foot started to hurt from running in heels, so she stopped to take a breather. She realized she had forgotten her phone, and her purse. So she walked back to her dorm and grabbed her phone of the charger, and her purse off of her chair. She decided to change her shoes, due to the fact her feet hurt. She took the cute heels off and put on black flats with a sparkly bow. She once again left her dorm and walked over to the class room. On the walk there she realized that she was very lucky to be here. She admired the way eveything looked. She stepped inside the classroom, and expected to have everyone stare at her, but instead nobody was there but her and the teacher. So she sat down in one of the bean bags, and waited for class to start.

Tony was pretty certain he was lost, and was rather wishing that he'd had the foresight to include actual classrooms in his explorations of the Blue Ridge campus, rather than just all of the horse facilities. At the time, everything horse related had seemed far more important than where he would be having geography or something, but now that term had actually started (all of a sudden and rather dramatically, to Tony's mind. Hadn't it been summer just yesterday?) actually knowing where his next class was supposed to be suddenly seemed a great deal more crucial.
Frowning at a neat little sign on the corridor wall, he brightened as he realised that one of the numbers indicated matched his timetable: apparently he wasn't as lost as he thought! Darting down the indicated corridor at an energetic clip, he carefully checked the numbers of the classrooms as he passed, shifting his backpack as he did so. Wanting to be completely prepared for the first day of classes, he'd packed it the previous weekend, and then had spent the intervening week checking that he had everything he could ever possibly need, taking great delight in colour coding notebooks, folders and Post-It notes for each of the subjects he was taking.
There was definitely something quite exciting - to Tony's mind, anyway - about the new, shiny start of a school year, and that excitement was heightened further by being in an entirely new school, with new subjects and new teachers, and so very much to look forward to. Entirely positive about the whole experience, Tony was even managing to not dread math class. Drama was one of those entirely new subjects for Tony, and he'd jumped at the chance to take it at Blue Ridge, hugely pleased about the compulsory art or sports options. Acting sounded like so much fun, and though Tony didn't realise it, the fact that he spent a great deal of his time shaping himself to other's expectations would mean that he was quite good at taking on the role of another character.
Finding the right classroom, he pushed the door open and bounced through it exuberantly, smile wide as he took in room and the people in it. It was definitely a different layout to normal classrooms, with the tables pushed aside and actual beanbags on the floor, and Tony's excitement for the whole thing mounted. "Hello," he chirped, cheery enthusiasm very clear even in that single word, addressing his words mostly to Ms. Chambers (he'd carefully checked the names of all his teachers, writing them into his timetable just in case he forgot) at the front of the classroom, but also to the one student already present. "It's very nice to meet you, Ms. Chambers; I'm Anthony Blake." On anyone else, the sentiment could have sounded trite or come across as an effort to suck-up, but Tony was entirely genuine in his words, and gave Ms. Chambers another excited little grin before dropping down onto a beanbag near his fellow student, and giving her a wave.

Beck remembered that he had drama class today. He then checked the time on his phone and say that he still had time and he won't be late. He stuffed his phone back in his pocket as he walked down the halls to the classroom. He opened the door and looked around the classroom. It wasn't like an ordinary classroom. The tables pushed aside and bean bags on the floor. He then walked in fully and closed the door behind him. He was informed that the instructor was Ms. Chambers. He noticed Tony, he remembered him on the trail ride, and girl which he hadn't met yet. He walked over to the women who must be Ms. Chambers. "Hello, Ms. Chambers. I'm Beck Oliver." He said to her before he walked over to a beanbag near Tony. "Hey Tony, remember me? From the trail ride?" He spoke softly to him as he added a small smile towards him. Tony seemed to be the only guy he knew so far at Blue Ridge, not counting the teachers.

Monique greeted each student who walked through the door and introduced themselves with the same warm smile and equally welcoming words. Other then returning their greeting, she silent observed the way that some of them interacted with each other while others kept to themselves.
When the bell sounded, she was surprised to see that half of her class was still absent. As it was the start of the year, she would excuse tardiness for today. She was still young enough to remember what it was like to drag herself to classes when school got back after a nice long vacation.
Even though she was still waiting for students, she didn't see the point in not getting started. Walking to the front of the room she looked over the room and smiled at each student who was seated on their respective beanbag. "Welcome to drama." She said, her voice still carrying the same warmth as it had when they had entered the room, that was just the way she spoke. She indicated to the board behind her. "As you may have read, there are a few ideas of how we can start the year. There are still other ideas that I haven't listed, and I will write up anything that you suggest. And then we will have a vote and use that to work out what we will do this semester." She arched her eyebrows as she shrugged her shoulders. "Or I could just pick for you." Her eyes sparkled as she looked over the class. "Who wants to be the first to offer a suggestion? If you like something that's already up here, I'll put a mark next to it." She held up a variety of coloured pens to show the students that she had a way to not get confused. "If you don't like something I have up here, please feel free to voice that as well."

OOC: It has been a while since the next person to post in the posting order should have posted. So I may as well post Beck grinned at the teacher as she welcomed everyone still carrying the same warmth. She seemed like a nice teacher, nicer than he thought. 'I'm really gonna like this class..' He thought in his mind as she turned his attention back to Ms. Cahmbers. He listened to her as she spoke. "As you may have read, there are a few ideas of how we can start the year. There are still other ideas that I haven't listed, and I will write up anything that you suggest. And then we will have a vote and use that to work out what we will do this semester." He looked over to the whiteboard to read over the ideas. He then turned his head back over to the women as she continued to speak. He laughs softly to himself at her comment about picking for us. He heard her as she asked who would like to be the first to offer a suggestion of like what was already on the board. He glanced around as everyone seemed to be a bit silent. So he decided to speak up first. He raised a hand shyly and then spoke. "Um, I like Musicals.." He commented with a shrug as he set his hand back down and waited to hear from someone else.

How did she let this happen?! Alia mentally scolded herself for being late to the class she was truly looking forward too. Seriously?! She was late for drama class, and she was mad at herself. The dark haired girl basically charged towards the class room. She listened to the frequent sounds of her shoes, as she continued to run towards the class room. She was clearly in a hurry and she hoped she wouldn't run anyone down. She pushed the non braided side of her hair behind her ear and muttered something. It was no doubt she was frustrated that she had let the time slip away from her. Focusing her thoughts on other things, she began to get excited about what was going to happen in class, what would they be doing? Was she missing valuable information? She herself was interested in acting, and had done a few plays before, mostly school ones. She really liked musicals though, as she adored singing. Also, she wasn't too bad, her mother had gotten her to take a few singing lessons, even though she didn't need them, at all. She sighed deeply and noticed she was getting closer to the class, hopefully. She couldn't afford getting lost at the moment with her bad sense of direction. She couldn't find her way through a kiddy maze, let alone a class room. Hopefully, just hopefully she was going the right way. Yes! She made it! She hadn't gotten lost, which showed a big improvement. She was starting to find her way around the big academy. As she reached the door, she saw that class had already started, and shook her head. She knew she was late, just hoped it wasn't something dire important. She turned the knob quietly and opened the door quietly as to not disrupt the class. Looking at the teacher, she caught the tail end of the words and decided to just connect the dots. Thinking she finally repaired the words with the rest of the discussion. She turned her head towards the teacher giving an nod and a small smile in an apology. She made her way to one of the bean bags, which she found interesting and comfortable. Lowering herself, despite her effort to stay calm and collected, she sunk into the bean bag. Struggling to escape from the jaws of the bean bag without a distribute, she offered they dark haired boy next to her a smile. God, bean bags were not her friends, she finally settled herself and frowned. Hopefully no one had noticed her troubles. She saw the boy next to her, hand go up and listened to what he say. Darn, I was going to say that! She thought to herself like the childish girl she was, nearly frowning. Hmm, what else did she enjoy on the list other than had been said. She raised her hand, and after waiting respectively, spoke. I like two person plays, and musicals. She said, looking at the boy who stole her idea from her thoughts, she sent him a glare, but then gave him a teasing smile that clearly told him she was just joking. Turning her attention back to the teacher, she waited for anyone else to speak. Outfit

Monique put two marks beside musicals and then one beside two person plays and looked over the class with raised eyebrows, waiting for the rest of the students to speak up, with a shrug of her shoulders she put the pen down and picked up a pile of small script books. "It seems that musicals got the majority of the votes, but for right now we'll just have a look at Alia's other choice, partner work." She walked around, handing out the books she was holding. "If everyone partners up." She looked over the number of students. "We may need a group of three, but I'm sure you can handle that."She held up the book she was holding. "In here you will find a selection of plays, from monologues to things to work with in groups of five." She flicked through the book she was holding. "Have a look through it until you find one you agree on and then have a go in your pairs and then if you are brave enough you could come and act it out in front of the class." She gave a devilish grin. "No homework for anyone who is brave enough to come up front."Here's a site with Small Cast Plays

The brunette made her way down the hallway, almost obviously frustrated. It was rare for her to show such an emotion, though the girl was not feeling like her usual smooth self. Being a little over fashionably late was a little too un-classy for her taste and Avery was getting quite sick of being lost. She wandered down two of the never ending hallways before finally giving into looking like a new kid. Her eyes searched to see that no one was in the hallways anyway and she pulled the map out, staring at it as she walked. The rooms all went in a daze and by the time she figured out where she was, Avery realized she was getting farther away from where she needed to be
Annoyance crossed her expression as she twirled around and made very pronounced, angry steps with her flats as she moved toward the arts hallways. Drama wasn’t exactly something she had taken before, but it allowed her to be someone she was not, so immediately Avery liked it. The prospect of being in a different life other than the one she was in now proved to be very attractive for the hurting young woman. She had screwed her life up enough to know she was screwing it up as she lived it and she didn’t want to stop.
Avery made her way into the classroom, a note of tiredness in her eyes. It had been a long first day and the brunette wasn’t too keen on going onto class again. She still had the equestrian classes later. The girl gave the teacher and apologetic glance before moving into a seat next to the other brunette girl in the room. She dropped her backpack on the floor and looked up at the board before returning her attention to the woman that was teaching. She had come just in time to hear about partners and she held in a groan. Avery looked confidently at the other four in the class, wondering if she would have to be the one to grab someone this time again instead of being the one grabbed. Avery wasn’t in the mood to outreach.

---------------------------------
This just wasn't his week. When he'd received a call on his cell phone at 3am from home he knew something hadn't been right. Needless to say, the phone call had resulted in a red eye flight back home, a funeral and then another 24 hour flight back to Blue Ridge. He gotten in around 5am. He dragged himself up into his room, patted Chey and snored the whole day away.
He was behind a month at least...well at least that was how it felt and today on the schedule was Theater and Drama. A class he must have picked when he was seriously jet lagged. He was not an actor by any stretch of the imagination and frankly today he wasn't in a mood to pretend to be the good student he normally was. Thoughts of the funeral flashed through his mind and he tried to hide the grimace on his face, pushing down the unpleasant memories. He was mourning, tired and in a class that he had no clue why. He shook his head as though trying to shake the gloomy state of his mind. His face became a blank slate as he lengthened his stride. He saw a girl slip in the class right before him and he felt a little bit better.
He walked into the class behind the brunette. He took a quick scope of the room and felt a little relieved. He recognized Alia from their brief encounter in the red house, but more importantly, he wasn't the only guy. Dipping his head in apology to the Ms. Chambers he slipped into the room as well and moved to claim an empty seat behind the brown haired upper class-man. He settled his tall, muscled frame into the seat as he placed his bag on the floor and tried to find out what he'd missed so far in class.

Just a small reminder, the tables are right at the back of the room cause the floor is scattered with bean bags. Monique smiled as two students walked in late, one after the other, and she picked up to more script books. "It's good to see you back, Taylor." She said to the second of the two who had entered. To the first to enter, a girl she didn't know, the woman approached as the girl took a seat. "Welcome to my class." She said as she held out a book. "I'm Ms Chambers. Everyone is pairing up and working out a two person play to act out." She nodded her head toward Taylor. "You may as well pair up with Taylor since everyone else is already working." She stepped over and held the other book out to the boy. She walked back to the front of the room, a smile playing across her lips as she looked over the students sitting down. "So, any suckers... er... takers who want to come and perform their skit?" She really didn't want to have to people one of the spot, but she would if there were no volunteers. "Anyone?" She lifted her eyebrows in question.

February breathed a sigh of relief when the bell rang indicating her forth class at the knew school was over. but now she had to go to Drama, she had acted a lot when she was younger and had been in a few plays, usually playing the quiet one though when she was acting she could get really good and make people believe she felt the way she should for each seen, though she still averaged A's never any lower then an A- and getting one of those she would start to beat herself up over it. She knew she could get all A+'s and anything under that was unacceptable. She had always been really smart remembering everything she saw and heard. Though it was really music that kept her sane and she was starting to beat herself up over not signing up for a music class, she would just have to do it next semester.
She rushed down the hall toward her second class, cursing under her breath when the bell rang, she could see the room. If only she had been a little faster. Still cursing under her breath she opened the door and walked in, pausing shortly before walking over to the teacher. "Sorry I'm late, I had a little trouble finding the room. I'm February I'm new." She said, looking at the female teacher, more relaxed then she had been all day. She glanced over the board and smiled slightly. "Er if I can put my two cents in I like Comedy, Chronicle plays, Aside. Though if I have to choose from the ones on the board I would have to say, Monologues or Shakespeare or Elizabethan." She said shrugging slightly. She loved Drama, it let her be someone else for awhile and she loved not being her as weird as that sounds.

Bronwyn was, once again, a few minutes late. It really was shockingly hard for her to really get back into the groove of a boarding school, but she knew that, given the time, she'd get everything settled within another few days. Or weeks. She walked inside the classroom after knocking softly on the door and moved up beside the teacher as well. "Hello ma'am. My name's Bronwyn. I'm sorry about being late." She said, giving the woman a small smile. She chose to not offer what she liked as far as drama and all, which was musicals, and instead looked out across the room. "Er, what exactly are we doing?" She asked, turning back to the teacher. Bronnie hated missing parts of her classes, as it made her feel so behind. "Are we doing a group-work or something?"
She absently twirled a strand of hair around a finger, a nervous habit she had that came apparent when she felt a little flustered. Bronwyn glanced at the girl who had came in just before her and offered a small smile. She wondered if the other girl felt the same way she was right now... flustered and a little lost due to being late.

Avery went on to wear a somewhat confused expression as the woman said something about coming back. It took her a second to realize she had been talking to the rather tall boy behind her. The brunette quirked her lips as nodded in small thanks as the woman welcomed her to the class. She would actually attempt not to mess this one up. Avery looked through the book as her interest immediately picked up. The brunette had always participated in the plays back in California, though she had never really tried other things. She raised a brow as Ms. Chambers told her to pair up with the boy named Taylor.
Avery offered the boy a nod and moved toward him, a to the point look on her face. She was quite practical when it came to things she wanted to do, and the girl wasn’t going to waste any time in bothering the poor soul that got paired up with her. The brunette flipped through her book as she spoke “Avery. And you’re Taylor.” she didn’t ask it as a question as Avery had been introduced technically, but was rather confirming it in her own mind. Avery quirked her lips once more and made a small smile.
This play would be quite interesting. She couldn’t say she had come up with something with someone she didn’t know at all before. Hopefully, Taylor would be eager enough to participate. Unknowing of what play to do, the girl looked inquisitively at the boy. “So, I guess – we’ll have to choose something. Being someone that doesn’t really know much, what do you think?” she said looking through the book. Avery hoped the boy wasn’t all big on introductions because she wasn’t in a mood to chat.

Post by Kate Holden on Jan 1, 2013 10:35:51 GMT -6
Kate hurried to her Drama class, a little out of breath. She was thrilled that her academic classes for the day were complete, and quite excited about her drama class. Kate was certainly a performer, and though the focused in singing and dancing, she'd done a bit of acting and wanted to get into it more. She hoped they'd do a musical, since she loved to sing. but was pretty much open to trying anything new. Kate was also hoping to make a bit of an impression in this class, as she loved to be noticed, and this was important for a class such as this. She'd dressed the part in a peter pan collared skater dress and bold polka dot tights, and she braided her dark hair that morning and twisted it into a bun at the back of her head.
Rushing into the classroom, Kate first noticed that she was, yet again, late, and second, the structure of the room. She was thrilled to see that the tables were pushed aside to make way for beanbag chairs. She made her way through clusters of students who seemed to be working together, over to a woman who she assumed was a teacher. Walking up her her, she raised her voice to make herself heard and introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Kate Holden. I'm very sorry for being late for class. Is there anything I can do to make up what I've missed, and what's the best way for me to join in?" She looked around once more, and recognized a few of the faces, but none that she could name as of yet.outfit
