Henri watched the animal inside the stall quietly, half ashamed she hadn’t been able to match her father’s bet and half amazed he’d been quite accepting with letting it go. Of course he’d given her a lecture about making these immature bets, and how it was more proof he was the adult and therefore wiser. In a sense, the brunette supposed he was somewhat right, though his ideas on life had been influenced terribly with money. She scowled, annoyed at the thought of her father and annoyed at the fact she couldn’t train Cisco to his full potential. Of course, she had a plan however.
As the familiar blue pickup entered the gates, Henri’s blue orbs lit up in delight. A grin spread across her face to see her old riding instructor, Mr. Conner. He also was known as her second father. In a way, she wondered why she had gotten the father she had today, as terrible as that thought was. As soon as the man stepped out of the car, Henri’s held him in a deep hug. “Oh, Henri… I’ve missed you, hon. My best student has a horse for me I hear?” she nodded with a smile, “That I do, Mr. Conner. I’ve been trying to train him, but I realized he was too much of handful. I know if I give him to Dad, he’ll just sell him off again, and there’s only one way I know he’ll be safe. You will take him please? I know if anyone can train him, you can.”
Henri gave the man a hopeful look. Maybe there was hope for Cisco after all. “Alright, alright… Let me first see this little nutcase.” he said reassuringly. The brunette nodded quickly, wasting no time in taking her former instructor right up to the stall door. Naturally, the gelding stayed back in the corner, making a mean face to the newcomer. Mr. Conner raised a brow, waiting at least five minutes before he spoke. Henri’s fingers began to twist together in nervousness. Finally, he cracked a small smile. “Alright. He looks like a handful, but a great investment. I’ll take him.” Henri immediately grabbed the man in a big hug. “Thank you so much!”
Mr. Conner grinned and shook his head “Perhaps, by the time you come back to visit, he’ll be getting over jumps eh?” Henri nodded, excited at the thought. “I would love to see that. Hmm… He looks like he’d be amazing over some jumps.” She nodded after this, checking her watch. “Well… Mr. Conner, I hate to be so hasty, but I had to find a place for him quickly so I do have class today. I’m sorry to have you drive all this way and spend only this little amount of time. I do have to go.” Henri moved up to the stall, to hold out her hand for the horse to come up to her. Cisco made little attempt, but finally gave her a farewell nudge. “Bye buddy, see you at home.” she said with a grin before stepping back and waiting for Mr. Conner to load him up.
