Today was, in a word, beautiful. The early morning sun peaked over the red orange tainted tree tops. The breeze was soft and cool, leaving Casey glad she had been smart enough to wear a warmer pair of riding pants. Her warm brown hair was pulled back in a braid, probably the most fancy hair style she could manage. But she didn't care if her hair was perfect looking or her make up was, well, non existent. Today was the day she was taking a trail ride with Nina, her best friend. She couldn't help but grin as she thought of all the times they'd spent together thus far. And it was all because Nina stood up for her. Casey hadn't thought she'd make a single female friend at Blue Ridge, but it turned out that she was wrong. Nina was proof that there were still kind girls somewhere on the planet.
Shifting back ever so slightly in the worn English saddle, Casey cued Guapo to halt, rubbing his shoulder affectionately. She looked up at the entrance of the trail, deciding not to go any farther until Nina showed up. The handsome black Arab seemed to agree as he lowered his head and let out a sigh. For such a high energy breed, he was oddly the calmest horse she owned. All thanks to Nina. She grinned, running her fingers through the gelding's mane as he willingly waited.

Nina was so excited for this day to come. She knew that Casey would bring Guapo on the trail ride. Since she all owners would need to spend time with their horses. She couldn't wait to see her best friend and best horse from Toronto. She jogged over the White Oaks barn to get Ratio set up for today's trail ride.
As she fed and groomed Ratio, she fixed up the leather saddle so that it was perfect. She then untied Ratio from the cross ties after tacking the mare up. She grabbed the reins and walked out of the barn. She felt a cool breeze of Autumn, and watched as her brown haired flowed along with the wind. She was glad she decided to wear her warmer pair of clothing. Before she mounted up on Ratio, she tied her hair up in a messy ponytail. She just shrugged, she really didn't care what her hair looked like. It's her best friend she's talking about, so she wouldn't have to try and impress her.
As she mounted Ratio up, she squeezed her legs and they started towards the trails in a steady trot. She noticed a black Arabian and a brown haired girl wating at the entrance of the trail. She noticed it was Casey. She trotted Ratio up beside the pair and smiles towards Casey. "Hey Casey! How's Guapo been for you?" She asked to start off the conversation. She then watched as Ratio greeted Guapo with a friendly nudge. The mare must have remembered the gelding back in Toronto. "So, you guys ready to start our trail ride?" She asked, a bit of excitement in her voice.

Casey's light brown eyes watched as her fingers gingerly intertwined strands of the black mane into a braid and quickly undid the braid. It was funny how something as braiding could be so entertaining and relaxing. She had been so early that she had needed something to do. But she didn't mind; she loved being early. Being late brought about too much anxiety. Even the feeling that she would run late drove her crazy. So she had made sure to get up extra early to take care of Guapo and get out on the trails.
The strands of black hair she'd been playing with were tugged out of her fingers as the gelding turned his neck to watch a grey Arabian approaching. Casey grinned, spotting Nina and waving excitedly at her. Ever since they're trip to Canada, taking trail rides together had become her favorite pass time with her best friend. It seemed like no matter where they were, they always had fun together. And there was just something wonderful about the early morning air, the serenity of the trails at this time of day.
"Hey!" she replied back, grinning happily as she looked over to her pretty best friend. "He's been a dream! He's such a good boy," she added, rubbing the handsome black horse's neck affectionately. There was no doubt he had a special place in her heart. "So ready!" She tapped her heels against his sides, letting him move into an easy trot. "Race you to the pond," she called out over her shoulder with a playful grin. With that, she shifted her weight forward and shortened the reins, letting the Arab leap into a fluid gallop.

Nina smiled as she heard Guapo has been a dream to her best friend. Now she should stop asking the question everytime they meet or see each other again. She just chuckled to herself at that thought. She grinned at Casey's comment about being so ready and then right away challenged to race to the pond. She let out a soft laugh as she tapped her heels against Ratio's sides as well. She let the reins loosen a little to the Arabian would have more room to catch up. She watched as they caught up to Casey and they made it to the pond in a photo finish. She couldn't tell who won. "Lets settle this race as a tie.." She giggled softly as she let Ratio lip at the gras as they talked.
"So how's your life at Blue Ridge going so far?" She asked to start some small talk. She patted Ratio's neck as the mare snorted and nudged Guapo playfully. She wouldn't have to tell Ratio to 'be nice' this time. Since the mare already knew Guapo back in Toronto, and they had no problems back there. So why would she have to worry. Her fingers played around with Ratio's mane, still turning her attention towards her best friend, as she waited for a response from her.

Casey grinned as the wind whipped against her face. She could feel Guapo's stride lengthen with each step he took, remembering how much he had loved to run back in Toronto, where he had called home until recently. Her fingers slid up on the reins and her arms stretched forward, moving with the motion of the gelding. Sometimes, there was nothing better than an early morning run. And it seemed as though Guapo couldn't have agreed more. She grinned, knowing Zanzibar would never have let Nina catch them simply because he'd never stop if he had his way.
As they reached the pond, Casey began to slow the black Arabian, not wanting him to slide to a halt. He wasn't a reining horse and probably never would be. She patted his warm neck, laughing softly as she looked to Nina. It felt like they were back in Toronto again. That had been one of the best trips of her life. Not that she'd taken very many good ones, but still. She nodded as Nina called a tie. "Agreed!" She grinned, rubbing the black's neck once more. "Good job, buddy," she cooed.
"And hello, pretty girl," she added as Ratio bumped her muzzle against Guapo. She grinned at the grey Arab before looking back to Nina. Guapo touched muzzles with Ratio, blowing softly into her nostrils as a hello before nibbling at her nose lovingly. "Life back at Blue Ridge is.. nice. Classes are fun and with three horses, I have more than enough to keep me busy," she giggled with a smile. "How's it going for you?"

Nina giggled softly as Casey agreed with it being a tie. She never forgets how fun it is to hang out with her best friend. BFF's ride together. She patted Ratio's neck as a good job like Casey did with praising Guapo. Ratio gave an excited nickered towards Casey at the comment. Nina grinned towards the Arabian and looked back up at Casey.
Ratio blew a slow breathe back towards Guapo and returned the favor. She listened to Casey reply to her question. She nodded to show that she understand. She giggled softly along with her before answer the same question that was turned over to her. "Pretty much the same thing I would've said.." She shrugged and gave a small smile. She then wanted to bring up the topic about traveling together. Maybe to Paris, Greece, or even Rome. "Hey Casey, I wanted to ask you.. Someday, when we could afford it, we could travel together. Like to Paris, Rome, or even Greece.." She finally brought up the topic. Hoping she wouldn't mind her changing the subject. She always wondered what her best friend had to say to that. After all, they had an awesome time traveling to Toronto together. So why not travel together again? The only question is, how can they afford it?

Casey grinned toward's Nina's lovely grey mare, giggling softly as she got a nicker in return. She'd always loved Nina's horse from the moment they met, even if they had met in less than idea circumstances. But Arabian owners always seemed to find bonds. And there really weren't many Arabs at Blue Ridge. It seemed most people wanted some sort of sport horse. Most of the students were extremely serious about their riding and thought sport horses were the best investment. No one seemed to get that Arabs were very versatile!
She grinned again at Nina's answer. They had so much in common. Just, Nina was a bit more outspoken than Casey was. Hence their friendship at all. "That's good!" she commented with a warm smile as she heard that Nina was doing well back in Kentucky.
At her friend's next suggestion, Casey shifted forward, giving her full attention to the pretty brunette. A large grin swept over her features at the idea of travelling, and she nodded quickly. "Oh my God, that'd be amazing! I've always wanted to tour Europe!" she squealed with excitement. If only they hadn't been poor students. "We better start trying to find jobs and save our money!"

Nina gave a small smile to Casey and her mount. She just loved Arabians and how loving they were at first sight. Referring to how she first got Ratio of course. She never get why some people want such great sport horses, just so they can act so great, show off, and just be the best they can be. Really, it's about how you get along with your horse. She just gave a shrug at that topic about horse owners. She's one of those proud owners instead, so it's really not her problem. She gave a pat to the grey mare she was riding when thinking of that. She could praise the mare anytime she wants.
She nodded, agreeing with her about how it's good to at least actually do good here in Kentucky, since they have left to visit her hometown, Toronto. "Better than not doing good at all.." She gave a warm smile back. 'Okay, maybe a bit cheesy..' She thought to herself after she commented what she wanted to comment about. Whatever, she already said it, no use in taking it back now. Yet she's with her best friend right now, no need to pretend to be someone. She can be herself around Casey.
She gave a giggle towards Casey's response. "I knew you would like the sound of it.." She smiled back at her, if only her family had a filthy rich history. Then she would be able to travel with her best friend. She agreed with the girl about trying to find jobs. "Lets worry about it later.. Now is the time to have fun, not worry about a new trip. That can happen later." She replied, trying to look on the bright sides of things besides how they both don't have as much money to go to their destinations.
OOC: Sooo sorry you had to wait this long for my reply... here you go nocturne <3
