He had heard some of his students talking about the place, then asked a fellow staff member later that day while riding. It turned out he had been trying to tire poor Jack out by exhausting himself on long runs when there was an alternative just a quick jaunt away. The reserve sounded perfect for Jack, the dog was well behaved and well socialized – he played well with others and loved people. The dog was trained enough to be off his leash, he stuck close to Chase naturally anyways. He had only had the dog a year but after a few hours together they were best friends. The dog wasn’t flawless but that went both ways and neither dog nor human got too upset about anything. So when Chase came home from the farm to find his apple gone off the corner of the counter he didn’t even bat an eye – that was his mistake he knew it was the second he left the house. Calling out to the dog who was without a doubt hiding under some furniture.
“Jack, come on buddy you’re not in trouble.”
The dog appeared from under the small couch excited and bouncing, Chase smirked and bent down to pet the dog. He missed having him at the barns, but it was school policy, thankfully the dog wasn’t too high energy and handled being home alone just fine. Standing up again he made his way to the bedroom, peeling off his coat he stuck it in the closet and continued to change his clothes to something more suited to a walk with his dog – white breeches were not ideal. Pulling on dark jeans and a grey tee he added a belt before locating Jack’s leash, the dog instantly perked up. Stopping in the kitchen he grabbed a bottle of vitamin water and another apple. Jack was on his heel, ready to go. His phone was in his coat pocket, pulling it on he grabbed a pair of keys and headed out leash over his shoulder Jack on his heel, attentive to the apple in Chase’s hand but more concerned about the ball in his mouth. The walk wasn’t long, just 10 minutes of him and his dog. The blue brindle pit bull was a quiet dog, the only thing he really got excited for was fetch, and when Chase wrestled with him at home – otherwise he was very set back. Other dogs didn’t concern him, he was social but would rather chase his ball.
“Okay Jack, drop it.”
The dog dropped the ball and Chase smirked, feeding the dog the apple core he picked up the ball and looked around. He had no interest in hitting anyone, but the park seemed to be relatively quiet. There were other dogs and owners for sure, but the place was far from bustling. Tossing the ball softly he was surprised at how far it went, he sometimes forgot how strong he was even though he wasn’t in basketball shape he could throw surprisingly well. The dog was quick to hunt the ball down and even quicker to bring it back, to play the game all over again. Chase threw the ball for the dog once more, further this time but being attentive to other individuals in the park.

The day had turned out nicer than expected at this time of year. Being cooped up inside all day wasn’t the best thing for her or her three canines. All of large structure, they were getting a bit destructive. The reserve was always an option, but the twenty-five year old really didn’t want to walk all three of them there. Willow and Frosty were giant dogs who sometimes liked to pull and that was going to happen, as for Red … well he always seemed to find trouble, or it found him. Thinking for a bit, she made the choice to load them into the truck. The barn was busy as usually, people, horses, and a whole bunch of other things happening. Giving Splash and Dart a pat as they left the fence and wandered farther out into the pasture, Maggie turned on her heel and headed up to her room. Scrambling to unlock the door, she could hear the scratching of claws on the flooring as the trio made their way to the door. Once the door opened she was bombarded by noses and friendly tongues. ”Down guys”, she said pushing away the muzzles. ”Wanna go out?” As if rehearsed all three heads cocked to the side and ears perked. A giggled escaped her lips and walked to her closet. ”Hmm….” The sound vibrated her lips as she sifted through the clothes. Pulling out a pair of clean jeans, a t-shirt, she grabbed a jacket then slipped on her Sperry’s. Searching for the pup’s leash she could the corresponding color, a green leash for a green collar. And for that just in case note grabbed Willow’s and Frosty’s leashes as well. Clipping Red up, Maggie turned and whistled. The Great Dane and Great Pyrenees were now on her heels as she walked out into the hallway and locked the door behind her. Getting to the truck, the twenty-five year old opened the door and with a swinging motion from her arm the two unleashed canines hopped up into the back seat of the vehicle. Although the reserve wasn’t even ten minute walk away, it was just easier this way. Picking up the Ridgeback she sat him in the front seat and then got in the driver’s side. Within no time at all they pulled into the small parking lot that led out to the reserve. Releasing the two older dogs they ran off and Frosty had unfortunately found a poor man and his dog already playing with a ball. Quickly getting Red out of the truck she locked it and called for the other dog, ”Frosty! C’mere.” Her lips were pressed into a thin line of irritation. Once the white puffball came to her side she gave him the sign to sit and he did unwillingly as told. Looking at the man, Maggie had thought his face was familiar. Even though she was the vice principal and all she still didn’t know half the staff members names or faces, maybe that was where she knew him from. ”I am so sorry for my dog.” Maggie was hardly one to intrude and so she was embarrassed at the training of her canine.

Chase was enjoying the fall weather, it was actually nice out today and the dog was loving it as much as he did. Jack was worse than Chase when it came to bad weather, he hated being out in the rain and avoided it like the plague. Wet and cold was not a favorite of the animal, he didn’t really like the dog clothes either so being short haired in the winter weather sucked. He would put on a sweater to go out and play in snow though, only the fresh stuff when it was fluffy and white. As soon as it got too wet or slippery the dog was done chasing snow balls and wanted to be curled up by the fire – Chase was usually quite content to join him there. The dog continuously caught the ball, getting more and more excited as Chase bent down and played with him slightly, though the approach of a large white fluffy dog distracted bot Chase and Jack from their game. Jack approached slowly, submissive and calm but eager to greet the other dog. The dog appeared friendly but Chase didn’t approach, the animal would approach him if he wanted. Chase was a dog person but he didn’t call himself a professional or super knowledgeable, the large white fluffy dog looked like a breed he knew but the name was on the tip of his tongue. P something, it was going to bother him now. After Jack had checked the dog out he headed back to Chase, waiting again to start the game of fetch they had been playing. Chase looked around and heard a woman’s voice, he smiled as the white dog peeled off towards who was evidently his owner.
“No worries, no harm done!”
He threw the ball for Jack who peeled off after it, returning with ridiculous speed that Chase always doubted he had. The pit bull was lazy, even though he was just two years old the canine was content to sleep all day. Even now chasing his ball he wasn’t bouncing about, he was hunting his ball and that was all. He would play with Chase but as soon as the tall man dropped his energy the dog mirrored it, the people Chase had bought the dog from knew they would get along perfectly. Both dog and owner were very relaxed, and Chase had no interest in altering the dog in any way, his tail and ears were natural as requested by the breeder. Looking to the woman with her pack of dogs that was not cooperating so well Chase smiled, he couldn’t imagine having that many dogs – Jack had come to him fully trained and was easy to handle. Upon closer inspection, as well he was a male and she was well a woman he noted she looked very familiar.
“Margaret Taylor, vice principal over at BRA right?”
He instantly worried he had mixed her up with another person but kept smiling, he had met so many new faces over the last few days that names and faces were all starting to blend together – he was pretty hopeless with names anyways. When he ran clinics the riders had their names printed on them somewhere. Even in his lesson he hadn’t managed to get everyone’s names, in a private lesson there was one person and one horse – two names to remember. He was capable of that, Jack dropped the ball at his feet and chase bend down to pick it up, throwing it again for the dog he returned his attention to the woman he still thought was Margaret.

The large fluffy dog pulled at the leash that his owner had just recently clipped onto his collar. Still trying to remember the man's name. Maggie had come to the realization that he did in fact work at the academy, but his name was still nowhere to be found in the mess that she called her brain. At this point the large Great Dane wanted nothing to do with her male friends and so just lounged where she was immediately after being released from the truck. Turning her attention back to the man she listened to the guess he took at her name. Her pressed lips became a smile as he got it right for the most part. "Close but it's Tyler." Chuckling an embarrassed look found its way onto her face. "I don't want to admit it but I can't remember your name." That would be her task from now until it was finished, to remember all the staff member's name and faces. She needed to work on that. Not even remembering what his job actually was, she was just quiet until he told her. Making a fool out of herself wasn't exactly the thing she came here to do. OOC: So sorry for it taking so long and for it being so short.

Jack returned the ball and held it in his mouth, waiting for his owner’s attention to return from the woman to him. Chase smiled to the lady and her dogs. He doubted himself slightly, he hoped he hadn’t confused her or mixed her up with someone else. Returning his attention to Jack once more the dog dropped the ball as soon as Chase thought to ask him, grin played over his features - the dog was smart. So many people associated pitbulls as horrible creatures, Chase knew better – Jack was the sweetest dog he knew, he was patient and kind – great with other dogs and all people. He could kick in as a guard dog too though; if chase felt threatened the dog would be all over protecting him. Bending down he grabbed the ball that was gross and slimy now, chuckling he pat the dog on the head and cued him to sit. Tossing the ball once more he nodded to Jack who shot off after the ball and was returning before Chase could wipe the slobber from his hand onto the bottom of his pants. He wasn’t easily grossed out, between the horses and dog there wasn’t much he hadn’t seen.
“Right, of course it is – Sorry about that Ms. Tyler.”
He smirked, mental note made of her actual name – he would remember it now, or so he hoped. Chase wasn’t exactly great with names, he was however usually good with people so the silence between them wasn’t concerning – he was easy going to say the least. It was the reason that he had considered teaching at all, people made sense to him normally. He noted her embarrassment and a small frown broke out over his face, but when he realized why he smirked and laughed lightly with her. Running a hand through his hair he let his tone hit the air once more.
“No worries, I haven’t been around long. It’s Chase Mathies.”
He shot her a signature smile before Jack caught his attention once more, the dog had dropped the ball in anticipation of being able to chase it again. Chase chuckled to the dog and picked the ball up, mindful of Margaret and her dogs he gave the ball a good throw this time. It went some distance and the dog shot after it instantly, Chase again wiped his hand off on the cuff of his pants and turned to face Margaret and her dogs.
“I imagine you make lots of trips out this way?”
