"I told you that I don't need him here! I'm not a child any more....I don't need someone to watch over me." Zhen argued into her sleek black cell with a hushed, but clearly annoyed tone as the teenaged girl marched her way up the steps of the front office, dragging her suitcase along behind her.
Pausing for a moment she listened quietly to the person on the other end of the line and scowled, though her voice was kept at a calm and composed level despite her obvious frustration, and before too long; her defeat.
"It would be pointless to send him. All he would do is get in my way and hold me back from my schooling!...."
Part of Zhen wanted to add 'And keep me from coming home' to that last sentence, but a shout for her to hold her tongue that could have been heard by anyone who may have been standing close by caused the jet-haired girl to flinch and instantly silenced her. Brining along with it a crestfallen expression to her pale face. There was no use in trying to bicker with her father. Once he had made up his mind about something, nothing short of a natural disaster was going to change it. Trying to drag the argument on when he had said that enough was enough would only get her into more trouble than she was already in. Surely the last thing she wanted was to make matters worse.
After saying her farewell and hanging up, Zhen sighed deeply and shook her head in dismay. This wasn't going to be a peaceful retreat like she had thought it was. If her father succeeded in sending her eldest brother to tail after her, he was no doubt going to try and make things as difficult for her as possible.
While she solemnly collected her room keys, Zhen decided she didn't want to think about it all anymore. At least not right now.....the only thing she wanted was to find a shower and fall into bed so that sleep could drown out her ever growing stress levels. Then, perhaps tomorrow would be a little brighter.
