The Personality
Personality:
Angus is a sweet little horse. He's very forgiving of his rider's mistakes (and sometimes rough handling). He's a patient boy and is very calm, like a steady rock in the middle of a rushing river. He's the type of horse that can sit idle in a pasture for months or years, but when he's pulled out to work, he's the same as always. Angus is kid-friendly and is extremely gentle. His worst habit is that he's a little on the lazy side, and it's sometimes hard to convince him to speed up out of a lazy walk or jog. He's been used to give pony-rides at birthdays, church festivals, Halloween parties, family reunions, Fourth of July/Christmas/New Years get-togethers, etc…
He's not a lead horse by any means. Angus is always at the bottom of the herd order when out in a pasture with other horses. He's always the last one to the gate and to eat. He's never been a lead horse and has never shown any inclination to fight for a high standing in a herd.
Caution Around: Not applicable
The History
Basic History:
- Angus was born in Texas on a hundred-acre cattle ranch.
- Noah, who was four at the time, immediately took to the foal and claimed Angus as hers.
- Angus was sent off to be trained as a two-year-old, and after only a month the trainer sent him back stating jokingly that he must have been 'born broke' because he was so laid back and relaxed about everything.
- From that time on, he's been a family horse, though everyone knows he's really Noah's horse, as he took to her just as well as she took to him.
- He quickly became a 'hit' around the community because he was so laid back.
- From the time he turned five, Angus has been giving pony-rides to kids at all sorts of events such as birthdays, parties, family reunions, etc…
- He and Noah have competed in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending a few times, but while he's quick and pretty agile, he isn't a 'speed' horse. Angus is a bit lazy and will not go out of a slow jog if he can get away with it.
- When his owner decided to attend BRRA, there was no question about Angus not being at her side.
