Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Kenzie's a bit of a wild one, or at least she tries to act like she is. She's the life of the party, talks to everyone she meets, has a bit of a short temper, and doesn't seem to mind any new developments in life (grandma's money can fix most problems, so why should she worry?). That's how she presents herself. It's been so long that sometimes she forgets that that's not who she really is. Kenzie hides a nervous, stressed-out wreck behind designer clothes and good horses. She worries about everything and needs to plan, usually on paper, before she does anything. As an example: her show-day routine has been practically the same since she was 5 and in lead-line classes. Deviation scares her, and that usually shows up in the form of a well-faked smile, where the only tell is slight wrinkling of her forehead. Kenzie knows. She practiced in the mirror until she got it right.
She finds it hard to keep friends, since she is so secretive about her feelings. She's a great listener, and won't ever tell secrets. Kenzie thinks that she shouldn't have the problems she does with herself, since she is a trust-fund baby who got everything she ever wanted, but she still counts calories and spends an hour a night planning the next day.
Likes>> Horses, music, chinese food, fashion, makeup, big parties
Dislikes>> Herself, small dogs, people who push her too hard, sugary foods, swimming
Fears>> Breaking her back, anyone finding about about her anxiety issues
Hopes>> Win an equitation final, become a trainer
Secrets>> She's "recovering" from a borderline eating disorder - but not really recovering at all.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> One of the reasons Kenzie's gotten so far is her body type. She's the tall, thin, long-legged rider that looks good on every horse over 16 hands. Of course, 5'7" and 110 pounds isn't good enough for Kenzie, and she's making a valiant but very secret effort to get down to double digits. She has a round, welcoming face, framed by long blonde hair that's carefully highlighted every month. Hazel eyes, straight teeth, clear skin... and of course Kenzie focuses on her nose, which is on the large side for her face. She wears very classic clothing, and loves that it's in style now. In the barn, it's usually breeches, a polo, tall boots, and a GPA.
Markings>> Various small scars from typical childhood injuries. Ears pierced twice - once in lobes and once in cartilage.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Broke left arm pretty badly at age 10. Outpatient care for EDNOS at age 15.
Criminal History>> None
Full History>> Kenzie is a big-city girl by birth, having spent her whole life in the Upper East Side. Her mother was a small-time model in her twenties, and dad occupies a minor supervising position in a Fortune 500 company. Her father's side is all old money, and despite the slightly lackluster careers of her parents, they have more money than they know what to do with. Kenzie circulated through all the after-school activites for young girls with her friends: soccer, ballet, lacrosse, and of course riding. She stuck with horses, and got a gorgeous small pony on her seventh birthday. Her trainer was fantastic with the older juniors and amateurs, but little Kenzie found her a bit abrasive. She privately thinks that her anxiety about her equitation stemmed directly from an early introduction to the high-pressure environment of the AA show circuit.
There was a time when Kenzie had four horses: a large pony, a large hunter, a small hunter, and a jumper. As she grew in age and size, she refined her interests and got out of the pony divisions. Jumpers weren't totally her thing, either, so she stuck mostly to the glitz of hunters. She wasn't in the equitation ring, either, until she was 14. And thus began her negative relationship with food. Kenzie had grown fast, and was already 5'6" at age 14, and she was on the chunky side. Watching the girls in size 24 breeches bring home the medals changed the way she thought about herself and her riding. She stopped eating so much and started riding more. Equitation became her strong suit. She sold three of the four horses and bought a six-year-old jumper horse from Europe who didn't have the ability for the high jumps, and made that mare into an equitation horse.
She lost weight and made herself fit the size 24s she wanted so badly. She was well on her way to 99 pounds for the first time since she was 8 years old. Kenzie never starved herself, but she also never ate more than 1200 calories per day, despite riding for two or three hours every day. She didn't expect her parents to notice and enroll her in intensive therapy until she gained back some of the weight and gave the answers the doctors wanted.
Kenzie discovered Blue Ridge while at a show talking to her friends, and convinced her parents to enroll her. She's bringing along two horses and a lot of baggage - physical and mental.
