Snow crunched under the horses hooves as they dwindled their way down the trail. It was cold. So cold... but so worth it. It was a truly beautiful trail and the girl was glad she'd decided to leave the warmth of the dorm-room to come out and ride.
It was cold, though... so very cold. The snow was several feet high along the sides of the trail and beautiful, but freezing. Even bundled up in a thick army-jacket over her insulated cover-alls and waterproof boots... even with thick gloves and a scarf and boggan... she was freezing. Her breath crystalized in the air, and she'd lost feeling in her fingers and toes a while back.
But it was worth it. Every bit of it was worth coming out and riding the trail and spending time with her buckskin gelding. Angus seemed to be enjoying it as well, if his lazy walk was any indication. Of course, noah thought with a smile, Angus never seemed to get out of a lazy walk...
She took a deep breath, filling her lungs with the icy cold air and exhaled. It smelled 'cold', if coldness could have a smell. Cold and frozen, barren of life... Peaceful, in an odd way. Noah gave Angus a small kick when it seemed like he was starting to amble to a halt, and the horse sighed and kept going, flicking an ear back in response to the kick, but walking on forwards with a little more speed than before.
Noah would have laughed if she thought it wouldn't disturb the silence.
