Rick is a laidback guy, who is often described as cool by his students. He isn't particularly strict about anything, though he does have high expectations of his students. He knows everyone has potential, and so long as they put in the effort, they can do anything. A manly man kind of guy, he doesn't like to show weakness, and has difficulty expressing his feelings. Because of this, there has been many a girl lost due to pure pride or ignorance. He's fun to be with though, and isn't afraid to make a fool of himself to impress a pretty girl. ~History~
Rick was born in Carthage, Mississippi. It was a small town, with everybody knowing everybody, and gossip was one of the few things that entertained anyone. His parents weren't particularly young when they married, by Carthage's standards. While the two dated when Nora was still in high school, they waited a few years before actually marrying, and didn't have a kid until Nora was twenty-one. Rick's father, Paul, owned a horse ranch, the only one in the area. Because of this, any horse business was always brought to him, meaning they were never in need of money.
Rick was about eight years old when his mother started sleeping around with the new lawyer that came to town, Bryan Aldean. He had come from Georgia, heard of the small town in need of a few new lawyers for the local attorney's office, and was hired almost instantly. Bryan and Nora met at the local Piggly Wiggly. One thing led to another, and the two began seeing each other behind Paul's back. He was extremely faithful in his wife, so didn't see a thing coming. Rick, however, saw the signs, but had no idea what to make of any of it.
A year later, a local gossip finally let slip to Paul what was going on. He confronted Bryan and Nora, and after discovering the truth, and learning that neither of them had any intentions to end the affair, filed for a divorce. Both parents were given partial custody of Rick, who in turn spend every other week with his father. Living in such a small town, it was easy enough to go to the same school yet live in two different homes.
Within the year Bryan and Nora were married, and by the time Rick was eleven years old he had a new brother, Luke Aldean. Rick really enjoyed having a little brother, and since his mother had opened a salon and his stepfather was always working, often Rick was the one taking care of him. Paul, too, liked Luke, despite everything that had happened. In the end, the arrangement was made that whenever Rick was to go spend the week with his father, Luke would go with. And so, it seemed to both boys that they had two dads.
When Rick graduated he got a scholarship for Meridian College, which wasn't too far from home. Taking up the offer, he went to school and studied to become a music teacher. He adored singing and playing his guitar, and at school he learned even more, mastering a few more instruments and getting down the basics for some others (fiddle, piano, trumpet, etc.). After graduating, he got a job at a high school in Meridian. He became quite well-known in the majority of the area, and people often searched him out for outside lessons as well.
Eventually, BRRA offered him a job as the music teacher. Looking into it, he spoke with Nora and Bryan and convinced them that it would also be a good opportunity for Luke. He, in turn, loved the idea, and was very enthusiastic. Finally, their parents agreed, and the two boys set off for the school.
Misc.: Rick plays the guitar, along with a few other instruments, and sings. He is currently acting as the guardian of his half-brother, Luke. He has a Border Collie named Missy.
