Full Name: Harper McKenna Reed
Nick Names: Harp, Ms. Reed
Student or Staff: Staff - Art Teacher
Age: 35
Ethnicity: white
Gender: female
Physical Description:
Harper is something on the short side, a mere five foot four. This means she's pretty much a dwarf in comparison to all the tall country men that surround her. Her hair is naturally curly, and a light brown color, while her eyes are dark brown. She has a nice, curvy figure, and while not considered model skinny, she is nowhere near fat. She has the nice, average body with curves in all the right places.
Personality:
This woman is quite easygoing, always looking for a good time. Before she was given custody of her goddaughter, he was often out on the town, dating and flirting in a friendly, no-strings-attached manner. Now, however, she is more of a hang out, goof off kind of girl. Since being given fully custody of Sydney, Harper has also become considerably more stressed, not having any idea how to deal with a grieving preteen. In class she is laid back, always there to give her students helpful hints and criticism, while at the same time pointing out their own strengths as well. She tries to make her assignments as fun as possible. This woman also laughs a lot, so long as she doesn't happen to be in an argument with Sydney. She doesn't like yelling, and so she has to be extremely exasperated, tired, furious, or a bit of everything before she'll resort to it.
Background:
Harper grew up in Kansas, born to a father who owned a general store in a small town, while her mother was part of the town comity. It was during the days when it was okay for kids to run around at all hours of the day, with no real crimes. The middle child of three, she wasn't noticed as much, and so she tended to spend more time away, riding her bike around town with her best friend, Ivy.
Harper and Ivy stayed close all their childhoods, well into adulthood. Harper never found anyone she was interested in settling down with, but Ivy met a handsome young man young, and they quickly married and had a daughter. The couple asked Harper to be the godmother, and she was only too happy to agree. A few weeks later, disaster struck, and Ivy's husband was poisoned--murdered. It was the first crime to be committed in the small town for as long as anyone could remember, and so no one had been ready for the bow.
With Harper's help, Ivy recovered, and life became better. Harper and Ivy had both adored art growing up, and right before Sydney was born they'd graduated from college and taken up jobs in the town. Harper became the high school art teacher, while Ivy was the middle-school's. It was a nice arrangement, and Harper helped raise little Sydney, spoiling the child, teaching her to draw... life was happy, despite the sad beginning.
Well, things changed when Ivy died in a car accident and Sydney was placed under Harper's custody. The child, once happy and like any other kid, became a bit of a troubled case. She seemed to think life was just a cruel trick, and their relationship strained as the two fought about everything. It was as if Sydney purposely picked fights, and despite Harper's somewhat passive nature, almost every night ended with raised voices and slamming doors.
Eventually, she was offered a job at a boarding school in Kentucky. Higher paying, room and board, plus a higher education for her ward, at a discounted price. It wasn't an offer to be passed up, and despite Sydney's disagreement with the whole idea, she accepted. The two headed off to Kentucky to begin a new life.
Misc.:
Harper is a happy woman who seems a bit more stressed than should be healthy. She is an artist and doesn't know a thing about horses... unless you count how to draw them.
