The office had been quiet all morning. Clint Urban sat behind his desk with a leg crossed, ankle resting above his knee. His tongue rolled around in his mouth as he thought of something he could do to pass the time away, sadly nothing came to mind.
The sound of the door opening filled the quiet space and the officer heard footsteps walking down the short hallway. Judgeing by the loudness of them, they were no doubt from his troublesome freind. Well, both men were troublesome to each other at times. His hazel eyes filled with humor that his assumption had been right when Kirk Clarkson walked through the door. A grin was on the vet's face as he took a seat in one of the chairs across from the desk. He sat down with a sigh took the cowboy hat off his head and rested it on his leg. He looked up at his freind, "What's up?"
Clint shook his head and blew from his cheeks, "Not much," he said as he moved his leg down and sat straighter in the chair, pushing it closer to the desk, "What about you?"
"Oh, not a whole lot. Been out and about, doing this or that.. not sitting on my lazy @ss, that's for sure," he said with a joking grin. At the remark, his freind tightened his lips and grabbed the nearest thing to him, a pencil, and chuncked it with a laugh, "You're just jealous I get the oppurtunity for a nap," his musical Australian accent filled the room.
"Oh, is that what you call it?" Kirk questioned back, "I'd say you were drooling on your desk over Giana."
Clint snorted from his nose, "Ha! Like you wouldn't." Every man had to find her attractive, of course, what was the rumor going around, she and Chuck were a thing? The officer curled his lip at the thought.
"Whatever the case, Bass beat us to the chase," Kirk said in annoyed tone. What girl didn't that man wh0re beat them too?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chuck had taken up to wandering the academy when his duties allowed it. It was a strange habit, but it sometimes had it advantages. He picked up on all the juicy stories that Gossip hadn't gotten hold of. Recently his name had appeared in several stories. Not that he cared. Anybody who really knew him, knew that a serious relationship just wasn't for him. He walked with an arrogance that was his signature walk. Chuck was looking the best he ever was, but only his mind was troubled. He recently found out that one of the students was his daughter. A shock that still haunted his dreams and turned his system upside down. Outside of the Campus Police office, he stopped to hear the voices inside. They were talking about Giana Liking, and him? Chuck couldn't believe that they were actually thinking of them two being an item. He stayed as quiet as mouse to hear what was being said further. It sure was interesting that everyone was talking about him.
Clint leaned back in his chair, his attention focused on his freind before him, "Bass?" he scoffed, "He's not competition for me."
This caused a fit of laughter from Kirk, "Oh, that's why he has the women and you don't right?" his hat fell off his knee and he leant down and grabbed it, throwing it casually on the empty chair beside him.
The officer formed a scowl, "If given the chance, I'd tell him to his face how much he lies all day long like a dog. No woman can possibly take him seriously." His Australian accent was a bit stronger now then usual. His hazel eyes studied his freind's face for any thought on the matter. Of course any guy would be jealous of one that women flocked over, but, Chuck was a player. He wasn't looking for what those women wanted. They wanted more, when he just wanted a little fling. He lured them in so easy it was sickening.
Notes: Haha! I love you Onz, thanks for letting Chuck join the fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chuck listened to every word that they were saying. No competition? Like hell that Aussie boy was competition for him. He was the best womanizer in Manhattan, and soon that reputation would fit him here too. Chuck wished he could tell that Aussie what was going for what, but it would mean that he would have to reveal himself, and embarrassing himself. Chuck never did anything to embarrass himself. Lies like a dog. Well, he did lie, but only to get what he wants. His looks would more of the talking than anything else, and it wasn't that he spoke much to the ladies that gave him what he wanted. And Aussie boy was wrong when he said that no women took him seriously. Chuck never allowed a woman to stay around long enough to figure him out. The voices stilled, and Chuck almost revealed himself. Yet, the fun in hearing what would be said about him further forced him to stay rooted to the spot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes: Hehe. It would've been sad to miss it.

The vet shrugged, "I don't know man. There's just something they see in him they don't see in us."
Clint paused for a moment. This was true. But what was it? The officer had never seen the man ride, but oh, he heard he was good, "What kind of horses does he own?"
Kirk thought a moment, he had seen them before, he had seen everyone's horses at the academy, "Um, only champions," he added with sarcasm.
"They can only be so good. I bet Champ could do way more talent than his mounts ever could."
The vet frowned, "Um, he's like, some kind of horse trainer. Last I remember, you were a police officer. Wait, you're not like, going to try and out do him are you?" he asked, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Clint straightened in his chair, "Why not? I have everything he does. Just watch. I'll get out there and show what I really have and they'll leave Bass faster than a road runner being chased by a coyote."
The vet scuffled back a laugh, "Whatever you say. C'mon man, let's go do something. We could go to the arena since you have to much talenting waiting to shine so bright it blinds people," he added jokingly.
The officer stretched and rose from his chair, he fought back a yawn. He knew his freind would never take him seriously. Well, at least he was trying, Kirk wasn't even making an effort to say he was just as good as Bass. The two men walked through the short hall and to the small front room, where normally a secretary would be there, but she was out of office today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chuck was enjoying every moment standing outside that door. Well, Oz man had one thing right, Call and Smacks were champions. Smacks just didn't act like it at times. Their breeding was the best, and their records showed it. Yet their was one thing that the Aussie lacked. It was the thing that everybody needed. Money. The big green. Chuck was rolling in it. He just wouldn't hint at it usually. Unless people needed some persuasion in doing things for him. Money was a big thing for women. Chuck was lost in his thoughts, so he didn't hear the scraping of chair legs, and the voices coming closer. It was too late to run, so he just stayed there, looking as casual as could be. Well, hello gentleman. Speak of the devil and he shalt appear~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kirk was ahead of Clint so the officer just let him open the door. He didn't really pay much attention as to what was going on until he stepped out onto the small porch front... and looked up. His hazel eyes froze as they landed on no other than Charles Bass. The young officer froze in his tracks, caught off guard way more than anytime in his life. The words the man spoke made his insides turnover. The guy had heard their conversation. He glanced to the vet, who was standing there in just as much shock as he was.
The Australian straightened his stature, and swallowed, probably taking most of his pride with it down his throat, "Ello Bass," he said in a rather dry tone.
The vet swallowed, his brown eyes glancing from Clint to Chuck. Out of all the freakin people to meet while walking out the door on the campus, they met this man. The thing that bothered him the worst, was how calm and cool Chuck was. That was a very dangerous quality to have, arrogance was just proven to be a wonderful thing. This guy was probably so confident in himself, that he decided he would be better than them two even more anyone knew anything like this would happen. He would give Clint a way harder run for his money than they both ever imagined.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So this Clint thought that he was better than Chuck. He noticed the Aussie's dry tone, and a lazy smile crossed his face. What was Clint thinking? If he wanted a rivalry, then he would have one. Of course Chuck would win, it was already set in the future. It had seemed like fate was taking a hand in things again. First with Melissa, and now with this. Both were a surprise, now this one was actually good. It would make time a lot more fun. So Mr. Aussie, you think you are better than me. Name me in what way, and I'll tell you in what ways you aren't. I can tell you that the latter will outweigh the former.Chuck was a confident b4st4rd that was for sure. He never let a chance go by to ruin peoples' lives or to at least mess around with them a bit. It would seem like Chuck would change now that he had a daughter, but no, it was not be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hazel eyes stared at the over-all figure before him. Some of his golden locks fell over his face, and caught his eyelash, but right now, he was oblivious to the fact. This was not like him, he wasn't a fighter at all, he was supposed to prevent them. What was he doing now? Starting one? The part of his mind that was trained to stirive for peace and protection screamed in his face, just to drop it. Just swallow the pride and accept Chuck's devious ways and get on with life. Some things were meant to be left alone. But, there was the other side. The side that screamed someone needed to put this jerk in his place, "It's Clint," he corrected his name. He rose his eyebrows slightly, then spoke his next choice words, "And, there is know thinking about it, Bass, I am better than you." The young officer couldn't believe it himself what he was saying, "I have better things to waste my time on than conversing with you any further."
His heart was thumping against his rib cage like a giant ax splitting wood. What was he doing? He was standing up for something he believed in, even if it was against society rules. For some reason, it felt good, sort of...
Kirk stood with a straight posture. His brown eyes darted from one man to the other. Granted, if he had to choose sides, it would obvioulsey be Clint's. Right now, he was more like a referri, to step in if need be. Both men, luckily, were polite with rudeness (if that makes any sense at all) so he didn't feel like he was needed, his presence could help out, as Charles was alone. That man was too much of a city boy anyway to hurt his hands, though he would love to get them dirty.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chuck laughed, his eyes filled with an evil glint. This was going to be an entertaining rivalry. Oh I know it's Clint. But I prefer the sound of Mr.Aussie. It suits you doesn't it. He was enjoying himself immensely. It was one of those things that just made Chuck happy. Lestat walked down to the office, as that was where they said he was most likely to find the vet. His gelding seemed to be slightly lame, and he wished that the vet would come and look at him. What Lestat didn't expect was to see Chuck and another guy almost at blows with each other while Kirk Clarkson just standing there. Hello, hello. Chuck what's going on here? Lestat and Chuck had become firm friends during the time that he had been at the Academy. He gave a exasperated look in Chuck's direction and suppressed a laugh. Oh hello Lestat. Nothing much. Just some poor, deluded s0d that thinks he's better than me. Chuck emphasised the poor, meaning it to go both ways. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clint scowled lightly at the man's comment towards his name. His hazel eyes drifted up the walk, as a man was heading their way. Well this is just great, the officer thought to himself. Oh, but then it got even better as the man seemed to know Chuck. Clint stared in disbelief as Bass just babbled out the whole conversation. He swallowed, now there were two enemies. His eyes dropped to the ground, then back to Bass, " I signified I wasn't going to have this conversation with you any further." His voice was stern, and he hid the embarassment that this so called 'man' had made him feel. He wasn't rich, he was far from it, and he caught that in Bass's words.
Kirk put a hand on the officer's shoulder, "We're done here. C'mon Clint, I have other business to attend too." The vet cleared his throat. This was certainly not a conversation he wanted to be in. The other man that walked up made him feel even more uncomfortable. Not to mention, Kris had talked about him as a very nice and handsome fellow. The vet swallowed his hateful throughts towards the man. Oh, but if he made the wrong choice with his little sister, it was on. Needless to say, this was not the best first impression for either of them to make.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lestat knew that Chuck could make Clint's life difficult if he wanted to, and he wanted no part in this. Well Chuck, I really have no interest in this little argument. I actually came to talk to Kirk here, so whatever is going on, leave me out of it.Whatever you say Lestat. Chuck's eyes took on an evil glare, and would wait for his friend to finish before leaving. It would just be the topper if he had to call his lawyer to come bail him out of jail if it did end up in a brawl. Lestat turned back to Kirk, his face not unfriendly. I was wondering if you would come and look at my gelding. It looks like he's pulled a tendon. That was the truth, but he. like Chuck, had ulterior motives. He would be asking Kirk if he would mind if Lestat could take out his sister out for coffee. Lestat was a gentleman. and if Kirk said no, he would accept it as such. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
