Serena Waldorf
=========================================
Love was out to get me, that's the way it seemed Disappointment haunted all my dreams
=========================================
Serena led the two abused horses into the barn aisle, or well tried at least. Ahearn was as scared as could be, and Gawain tried to help her brother. This time the two weren't sedated, and she had battled with them from the barn just to get them to the vet. Serena had managed to keep a constant chatter, just so the horses could get used to her voice. It had been nearly 3 days since she bought them home from the Auction, and it had been a few days of hell. The sedative had worn off and then hell had broken loose. They weren't used to being in a stall. Serena had decided today enough was enough.
Firefly, Missy, I am going to make a bit of a noise now, but don't worry. She whispered to the horses, and stood at the barn entrance. Dr. Clarkson, are you in here. Serena hoped he was, and felt the pain blossom in her calf. Missy had decided to take a chuck out of her by using her front leg. Serena closed her eyes and forced the tears to disappear.

What's the use in tryin'? All you get is pain When I wanted sunshine, I got rain

Dr. Clarkson felt the warmth on Lestat's mount's leg. It hadn't gone down any since the horse had been here. The vet shook his head in bewildermant, to his knowledge, there was no excuse for it to still be swollen. He squeezed some gel from a bottle into his hand and rubbed it on the animal's leg. It was a muscle relaxer and would ease the pain. He was going to draw blood work in thirty minutes or so and run some tests in his lab room. This was just a mystery. His brown eyes carefully eyed the remaining three legs, and no change was yet to be done. Maybe it was just a waiting game. Time would make the swelling go down.
The horse was stalled next to Beauty, the malnourished horse that had been confinscated into their care a while back. She was however, out in the back acre paddock. It was then, that a student's voice entered his ears, "I'll be right out!" the man called.
Kirk left the stall, closing it shut behind him. A warm smile graced his lips as he neared the girl, but then looked like she was wincing, or squinting, or something, "How can I help you?" he asked in a more questioning tone that usual as he eyes the two culprits.No one came here with a horse without it the cause of the concern or problem.

Serena watched her two lovelies as they just stood there, eyeing the world. Gawain was the first to notice the vet's arrival, as she pulled back on the lead immediatly. Serena's leg burned from where the mare had got her attention, and she was still blinking back tears. As soon as the vet was close Serena gave him a smile, despite the pain.
Well sir, i bought these two horses here at the Auction yesterday. I know Ahearn is going blind, and Gawain is protective over him. They were both abused and badly malnourished. I was wondering if you can help me just check them over. Make sure that they don't have worms or anything of that sorts. Her British vocals rang slightly in the barn, but it was nothing compared to how Gawain acted. The chestnut mare lunged suddenly at the vet, seeing him as a threat to the small herd of 3. Serena yanked the mare back, and scolded her silently. I'm sorry about that. She doesn't fancy men much.

The man's brown eyes, weary, eyed the two beasts. He listened as the girl spoke. Buying a horse from an auction, really was a gamble. You had to use your wits and gut instinct to know for sure what you were getting. You couldn't trust the seller's words for a dime. The vet nodded his head, as he thought, a worming would always do a horse good. Right after Serena had finished speaking, the mare lunged at the man.
Dr. Clarkson was standing out of harms way, and he was surprised the half blind animal was behaving so aggresively. Normally a buddy always calmed them down. None the less, it caught him as a surprise. He quickly waved it off as the student began to apologize, "That's alright, I'll go get some wormer."
The veterinarian turned away on his heel and walked over to a filing cabinet against the wall. He opened the second drawer and pulled out two tubes of wormer. He glanced at the two horses, then back at the tube as he estimated their weights. He moved a sliding ring down to the average weight he thought each horse to be. He then walked back to Serena, "You can worm them yourself later, or we can do it here," he offered, holding the two tubes out to the girl. It was a really simple job, and the horses would be more willing to do it in their stalls, or some familiar place and with the person they trusted the most.
