Andy woke up in his apartment on his bed. His kitten Crystal was on the pillow next to the one his head was resting on. His puppy Samurai was lying near his left side on the bed. Andy sat up and stretched; he looked out the window. It was a Saturday morning; he had slept in it was now ten o’clock. “Crap” Andy whispered; he just remembered that he had a private cooking lesson with Mischief. The beautiful young woman that was in his classes that he taught. She had asked for private classes; which was fine with him. Andy got out of bed and started to gather his outfit for the day.
Andy took a quick shower and got dressed; then he did his hair and put eye shadow and eye liner on. Once he was done with that he went and cleaned the little box and then headed out with Samurai for his walk. As he walked the little fur ball he thought about the private lesson. Andy wasn’t really sure the girl wanted the private lesson for cooking with the way she was flirting with him in the one class. But Andy felt like he didn’t care and liked how she was flirting with him; he smiled as he thought about it.
He came back to his apartment and took the leach off Samurai. He petted him on the head then put the leach on the couch in the living room. Andy then walked into the kitchen and made himself a bowl of cereal. He told Mischief that he would meet her in the cooking classroom at twelve o’clock for the private lessons. Andy had an hour for it was eleven o’clock now. Andy only had his muscle shirt (that he wore under his collared shirts) on at the moment. The collared shirt was on the couch which Samurai was now laying on.

Mischief was getting ready for her lesson with Andy, her newest teacher and the latest being she was preparing to flirt with. She had two hours to go until she was meant to meet him, but she couldn't decide what to do with her hair. Missy wasn't the sort to want her hair to look intensely styled, but she wanted to look good for him. Bending right over, she flicked her hair over her head and sprayed it thoroughly with strong-hold spray. As she stood back up, she tossed her head so that her hair fell back into place, a lot thicker than it had been before - the big, tousled look was her aim. Brushing flat her fringe, she noticed a slight kink in it, so she turned on her straighteners to sort it out. Satisfied her fringe was falling neatly over her right eye, she turned to her bed.
The outfit she was wearing already laid out. Black skin-tight jeans, a tight-fitting short sleeved black top adjourned in one corner with red skulls which she knew would sit over her right breast, and a choker necklace. Missy was desperate to wear the new top, but knew that this meant Andy would be able to see the abuse she put on her arms. Deciding that if he was worth anything, this would not put him off, Missy realized the impracticalities of wearing long gloves to a cooking lesson. Getting these clothes on, she tightened the necklace around her neck. The black leather fit snugly around her neck, an upwards pointing five-point star in a circle hanging in the center. Thin chains went to the leather from the lower two points - each going to the respective closest side.
Adding a tiny amount of foundation to her face, her eyes were outlined top and bottom with kohl pencil. The eyeliner extended out in Egyptian styles curls, and above that was big smudge eye shadow. Wishing not for the first time, that her bottom lip was pierced both sides instead of just the left, she changed the plain plastic retainer she wore for most classes (she took it out for riding now), for a small black and red spiky rubber ball, matching perfectly the colors of her top.
Heading to the door of her room, she took one glance in the mirror before pulling on plain black converses. She walked across the quiet grass which lay between her own dorm house, and the staff apartments. Making her way up to Andy's apartment, she knocked gently on the door. Sneaking a look at her watch, she saw she was dead on time, and flicked her fringe forward whilst waiting for the door in front of her to open.

Andy finished his bowl of cereal and put the bowl in the skink. Andy then washed it dried it off with a rag then put it back in the cabinet where he got it. Andy looked at his hands. He was playing with Crystal last night and she had scratched up his hands and arms. Andy didn’t want to declaw her front claws. It didn’t seem he had to, she was using the scratching post, and he didn’t mind the scratches. Andy thought the little fur ball was so cute when she was scratching him. Also he wouldn’t want to declaw her because if she got out she wouldn’t have a really good way to protect herself.
Andy remembered that he hadn’t turn on his phone yet. Andy knew that his mother would have tried to call him this morning about the abused animals that were coming for him to take care of. How he got into that situation of not only taking care of two dogs that have been left alone without any food or water for months. But he also agreed to take care of two abused horses. Andy was going to have his hands full for the next couple week’s maybe months.
Andy got his phone from his room and turned it on. Just as he predicted there was a voice message waiting for him from his mother. Andy put the phone in his pocket. He then picked Samurai up off his shirt and put him down on the other side of the couch. Andy put the shirt on but didn’t button it up. Andy took his phone out of his pocket and started listening to the message his mother left him. But before he could go far he heard a knock at the door. He was just about to leave for the classroom. Andy knew he was going to run late. Like always Samurai went nuts and started to bark his head off. “Samurai give it a rest” Andy said above the barks but didn’t yell. Of course what he said didn’t stop the little dog from barking.
Andy walked toward the door and opened it up, holding his phone to his left ear with his left hand. He looked at the young woman standing in front of him. “Oh! Hello, come on in. Don’t worry about the little one barking, his bark is bigger than his bite” Andy said as he stepped back to let her in. His mother was going on about the abused animals and wouldn’t shut up. Andy took the phone from his ear and toughed the red button that would stop the message. Andy smiled at Mischief and picked up Samurai so he wouldn’t get in her way. “I didn’t expect you coming over here to tell you the truth” He said. Which he looked that way with him on the phone and his shirt unbutton; he was obviously not expecting anyone to come to his apartment.

Smiling as Andy greeted her, she looked at the small dog which was certainly cute. She knew Andy had a thing for taking in abused animals, and wondered what the little dog's story was. "Hi, sorry I came here first, I was ready a little early and wasn't sure if you had wanted me to bring any ingredients", Missy spoke quite calmly for her - not in one of her depressive episodes, just calmed by his presence. She walked a step or two into the room, not far enough to quite close the door.
Missy wondered if she had done the wrong thing by arriving at his apartment, maybe she should have just gone straight to the classroom and not worried about ingredients. But she had wanted to show she could be organized, just sometimes. "I guess we should go down to the classroom then, I mean, people might get the wrong idea if they saw me here. I didn't really think about that very well, sorry". Missy slipped back into her usual pace of talking, rushing out her words and stumbling over them. Excitedness quickly turned to nervousness in the girl, especially when all her emotions were in such a muddle as they were now. She didn't quite understand what was going on with her emotions very often, but now she was very confused about how she felt about this guy.
Not waiting for his response, she quickly stepped back out of the apartment, worried she had done something to upset him. As she stood outside the doorway, her hair fell forward to cover most of her face, her usual confidence evaporated.

Andy looked at the young woman and returned her warm smile. Andy listened to her story and nodded. “I see. Hmm all the ingredients we would need would be in the classroom. But I appreciate you coming over and asking me” Andy said just to be sure she didn’t think she did the wrong thing. Andy thought she was a very pretty woman. As he thought about this his stomach tightened. He mentally cursed himself for thinking that and the way he felt. Seeing how she wasn’t going to come all the way in he moved away from the door to set Samurai down. Andy walked over to the couch and placed him on it “stay” he said, if it was going to work he had no clue. Andy was still working on the training with him. Andy then buttoned up his shirt and letf the top two buttons undone.
Andy looked at Samurai just to make sure he would stay on the couch. Samurai seemed to have lost interest in the woman standing in the door way. Andy put his full attain to Mischief when she started to speak. Andy shook his head “We should get to the classroom yes, but not because of that reason so don’t worry about it” Andy said. Andy could care less if people thought there was something between the two of them; that's how rumors were started. Only because so far there was nothing, Andy knew he would get fired if he had a relationship with a student. That was one reason why he was trying so hard to ignore the feelings he felt for this woman. Andy thought about the things he was missing before he could leave. He would need his keys which were in the kitchen on the counter and he wanted to know where Crystal was.
Andy looked at Mischief he saw that she had back out of the door way and was now in the hallway. Andy raised his eyebrows and saw the way her body was, Andy could tell she was uncertain now about showing up here at his apartment. Andy smiled at her, one of the rare things he does but when he does it his smiles are always warm. “Just let me get my keys and I want to find my cat so I know where she is and then we can walk over to the classroom” Andy said. Andy got his keys; which were three keys on a round plain key chain. One key for his apartment, one for his mother’s house, and one for his truck. Andy then walked into his bedroom to find Crystal on one of the pillows on his bed sleeping the day away. Andy walked back out into the living room. “Ok ready, are you?” He said as he walked over to her, putting one of his scratched up hands on her shoulder.

Mischief smiled almost shyly, she was glad of the reassurance she had not done the wrong thing. Watching as he placed down the cat, she was glad that she could retain his attention by simply talking. It was a very different situation to the one she had left behind with her parents, she could not recall getting their attention apart from to be reprimanded for years. Some would say that her misbehavior was the cause of this, but the misbehavior had started in an attempt to get any attention - positive or negative.
Grinning in delight as he smiled, she tried not to be overly obvious that she was taking in every aspect of how his face looked when he smiled, savoring it if you like. "I'm ready", she said simply in reply to his question. "What are we going to be cooking? I can't wait to get started. I like cooking, but I doubt it will turn into a career for me. I will probably end up working with horses or something similar." Missy smiled one of her oh so charming, slightly flirtatious smiles. Her brain was in a whirl of emotions, should she like this teacher? Could anything ever happen between them? How did he feel about her? She wondered if she could ever voice these question, a strange sensation for someone who usually spoke first, and considered later. Wondering how she could speak up in the least obvious was possible, she spoke softly, but mixing up her words in her haste to ask the question. "So, what do you think? Of me I mean. Like as a cooking student though, of course".

Andy looked at her when she smiled; he thought she had a pretty smile. Andy wondered if she smiled at everything or if she smiled rarely like him. Andy walked out of the apartment; he closes and locked the door. Andy looked at Mischief and nodded. Andy started walking down the hallway with Mischief walking beside him.
Andy looked at Mischief when she asked him what they were going to cook. He listened to the rest of what she said and nodded. Andy scratched his head at her question. “I was thinking spaghetti. But if you were thinking of cooking anything else I’m all ears” He answered her question. Andy thought about what she said. “That sounds like it would be fun; to work with horses. What makes you want to work with them?” Andy asked but now that he thought about it he didn’t think he really should have. “I actually thought about working with horses also. But it wasn’t something my heart leads me to do as a career” What Andy had just said says a lot about him. Andy goes the way his heart tells him to go and doesn’t hesitate to follow it. Although he is hesitating about his feelings for Mischief. Andy would never say something like that to anyone. But Mischief was very easy to talk to for him. Andy looked at the floor as he walked. He still couldn’t believe that he had said what he said.
Andy stopped walking and looked at Mischief. Andy listened to her question. He looked at the floor and thought about his question. He was glad that she asked him how he thought about her being a cooking student and not in general. Andy wasn’t sure why but he wasn’t sure if he could tell her how he really felt about her. Andy looked at her “I think you’re a great cook and student. Your parents must be proud of you.” he said and smiled. “What do you think of me being a cooking teacher?” Now he asked the question. Andy started walking again and looked at the floor while doing so waiting for her answer.

Mischief watched as he locked up his apartment, and headed down the hallway. "Spaghetti sounds good, simple enough that I can't mess up, but still a sauce to experiment with." Mischief said what she thought then, plain and simple. It was so much easier when you could do that, she thought.
Mischief listened intently as he asked about her plans. "I love horses, even when it is hard work in the freezing weather. They were kind of my outlet for a long while, and I feel grateful to them. After all, I don't think I am very good at anything else which could lead to a career". Mischief finished her explanation with a smile, before adding a little extra comment for Andy to interpret any way he liked. "Well, unless I follow in your footsteps of course". Watching him whilst he spoke, Mischief picked up that he was the sort of guy to follow his heart, rather than his head. It was something they both shared, and Mischief wondered if he had ever regretted following his heart over his head. Pondering over whether she should ask him as such, she couldn't think of any reason - while other than tact, not her strongest point - not to ask. "I tend to follow my heart over my head too. Did that ever mess anything up for you?"
Her question apparently stopped him in his tracks, so she waited too. Feeling a wide smile growing across her face at his praise, she did something for what she thought must be the first time in her life. Mischief blushed. "Thank you. But my parents aren't proud of me. We don't get on very well. They tried to pressure me into being the sort of person they wanted, and I guess you have already figured that doesn't work so well with me. I like being my own person too much." As she finished talking about herself, he asked his own version of her question. It somewhat pleased her that he seemed to go to as much effort as she did to phrase his question correctly. "As a cooking teacher? I think you are a talented cook and an influential teacher. Combined, I think you are magical and if you found someone with a talent for cooking you could work wonders," Mischief paused, taking a second to decide whether to continue what was in her head. "And as a person," she made the decision to say her thoughts, "I think you are even better. You are kind, gentle and have one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen". Even more hesitantly she tacked on to the end, "and your not even bad looking either".
Keeping her head down, she followed suit and walked down the hall too. She wondered if she had pushed it too far, and waited slightly nervously for the reply which he would give.

Andy nodded when she said Spaghetti. Andy wondered if she would have objected if she didn’t want to cook spaghetti. Andy walked through the hallway to a door that leads outside. He opened it walked out and healed it open for Mischief. Andy’s phone started to ring; he took it out and looked at who it was. It was his mother; he rolled his eyes; how much explaining could one woman do. “Sorry it’s my mother” apologizing for his mother calling at this time. Andy pushed the talk button and started listening to his mother. First she asked him if he had gotten her message she left him “yes I did” he answered. She then told him what day and time the four horses were arriving. “Ok that’s fine”. They were coming Wednesday at noon. They said their good byes to each other; then Andy toughed the hang up button. “Sorry about that” He apologized once more.
Andy wondered if he should tell her about the four animals coming. “My mother found two dogs that had been left alone without food and water and two horses that had been abused and neglected. I told her I would take care of the four of them. So she’s going to get someone to drop them off” he tried to explain the situation but he wasn’t sure how well he did. He did leave room for her to ask any questions she wanted about it. Unlike him his mother wasn’t too keen on helping abused and neglected animals.
Andy listened to her explanation on why she wanted to work with horses. He nodded and put in his thoughts “Animals can be very good outlets when you’re going through a hard time. I’m sure there is a lot of stuff your good at that will lead you into a good career.” Andy listened to her one comment; he smiled and looked at her. “Am I that good of a teacher? Or would it be influence? “Andy asked. He wasn’t sure which one it was. Andy nodded when she said she also followed her heart. They were a like in many ways and he wondered if there was something that wasn’t a like.
Andy reflected on an answer for her question. “Yes I have messed up a couple things by doing so and I wish that I follow my head instead of heart. But I don’t live in it and I move on. The most important thing is that you learn from it” this was Andy’s way of thinking. “There are times that I listen to my head instead of heart and it does turn out better then it would if I listened to my heart” Andy added. " Am I making any sense?" Andy had to ask. “And you?” He asked, although he knew the answer to the question everyone messes up now and then, no matter what. But he wanted to hear it from her.
Andy Looked at her and saw that she blushed which made him smile. Andy listened to what she said about her parents. Andy nodded and then voiced his opinion “I think parents pressuring their child in doing something they don’t want to do or even trying to make them into something they’re not is the worst thing they could do. My mother never did that, she told me right from wrong and punished me when I needed to be punished but she let me be my own person and accepts who I am. I am sorry that you don’t have a great relationship if one at all with your parents” He added the last part he hoped he didn’t sound like he was bragging about his mother.
Andy looked back at the ground when she answered his question. Like she did when he praised her Andy blushed, he wasn’t used to that kind of praise at all. The most he gotten from praise was when his mother told him he was doing great at something but it was never like what she said. He listened to what she said about him as a person and he stopped dead in his tracks and blushed even more. “Thank you” was all that he had managed to say. Her saying that about him made him like her even more. “As for you… I think you’re the brightest student at this school; you’re a very thoughtful person, you are kind hearted and brave. You also have the most beautiful smile I have ever seen, and you’re not bad looking yourself. Unlike your parents I like you the way you are and I don’t want you to change.” This was what Andy thought about her. Of course he could go on but he wouldn’t.

Mischief really was looking forward to making spaghetti, hopefully it would be simple enough she wouldn't get all flustered in front of Andy. She didn't really have any ideas before going to see him, and would have been happy to agree with almost anything he suggested anyway. Mischief simply smiled as he apologized on behalf of his mother calling. She wondered if that had been who he was on the phone to when she first turned up at his apartment, and what they had been talking about.
"Aww bless them," was Mischief's first response about the rescue animals. "You are pretty kind to take them in, alongside your own animals and working here. What are the horse's like? When are they arriving?" Mischief finished off, asking about the horse's of course. She loved cats, but dogs weren't really her thing so much. She didn't have a problem with dogs, she just much preferred horses and cats. "And might I be able to help with the horses?", she added somewhat tentatively.
She listened as he asked whether he was a good teacher. He seemed to be genuinely asking for her opinion, rather than looking for praise to satisfy insecurity. So Mischief spoke honestly, although it may have seemed like she was just saying it to make him feel better. "I think you are actually a good teacher. You are charismatic enough for people to want to listen to what you have to say, and actually remember it too. You act confident in front of a class, so they know not to take advantage, but you are not so strict people start to dislike you. You know what you are talking about, without having to look for reference the whole time, which always looks bad. You are actually on par with the students, rather than acting like you are above them. I guess that's what I think of you as a teacher", she finished off simply - she had run out of steam.
Mischief thought about his question, she had messed up more than once in her life, but she didn't want to burden him with them. So she gave a simple answer, explaining her decision making abilities in life in the simplest, but truest way possible. "I listen to whichever seems best at the time, which is normally my heart. Sometimes, I live to regret it later."
Mischief listened to his next two statements before adding her own comment, they seemed to follow one after the other on almost the same line of thought. Determined not to let Andy see her blush again, she let her fringe fall right forwards to cover almost all of her face when he spoke about her. "Wow, I never knew I was that cool," Mischief said. Trying to cover her part embarrassment and part happiness at his description of her, she tried - and failed - to cover it up with a sarky comment. Realizing it hadn't worked, she carried on talking. "Ok, so that didn't really work. Thanks, is what I mean. Well, it's not really my parent's thoughts which bother me. They are entitled to an opinion, and now they aren't trying to enforce it on me it doesn't fuss me so much. A nice thought from you is worth much more in my eyes."
They reached the classroom, Mischief opened the door and entered the room. It was clean and tidy, and she briefly wondered if the school janitor cleaned up or if Andy was responsible for it being so spotless. "So, are getting started together?", Mischief said, as an afterthought she wondered if that seemed like a double meaning, but didn't correct herself.

Andy was also looking forward to cooking the spaghetti. He wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out in the end. It was simple thing to start with and it gave him a chance to see how well she could work with spices. Not a lot of people could work with spices without a recipe to go off of. He was willing to experiment with any recipe and spices; he guessed that’s what made him a great cook. Some people didn’t have the time or didn’t want to.
Andy looked at her and smiled yet again. Andy nodded, those animals were blessed. “Well I couldn’t say no. Ones a thoroughbred mare who is at least thirty pounds under weight, although I think it’s less than that. The other horse is a Friesian gelding that was beaten and has the cuts and scars to prove it. They are arriving on Wednesday at noon. Of course you can help. I can use all the help I can get” Andy answered all her questions. He explained the horses in simple answers. He was kind of glad that she had asked to help.
Andy listened to her. Her words made him feel better about himself and teaching. What she said he knew was true. But it meant more to him when she said it. Andy nodded and then spoke “Your right, but all the same it means more to me hearing it from a student then knowing it myself” was his simple answer. He didn’t know what else to say about the conversation. But he did want it to end. He didn’t like talking about himself. He was glad to hear that he was the kind of teacher he wanted to be.
Andy nodded “We all live to regret things sooner or later, but you shouldn’t dwell in it” he said. Again he was trying to comfort her. It was better to accept that you are going to mess up in life and regret things. Andy thought in the end it made a difference. If you accept it then you can live to forgive and forget and learn from it. Although he knew you shouldn’t think you were going to regret everything because it wouldn’t help you in life.
Andy looked at her and smiled when she tried to hide that she was blushing. Andy laughed at her statement, not because it wasn’t true but because of the way she said it. Andy listened to her next statement. “No I think it worked just fine” Andy was now trying to make a joke out of the situation to let up on the tension. He knew his statement was lame though it did kind of make him laugh a bit because it was so lame. Going back to his train of thought to make a statement about the rest of what she said.
Andy nodded and spoke up “Well I guess that’s a good thing, but thinking about it more they probably just really care about you and wants what’s best for you” Andy said. He smiled at her last statement he wasn’t sure what to say about that. “Well in that case if you ever need anyone to talk to, or if you need advice on something or just need a nice thought I’m always here for you” he told her smiling.
Andy walked into the classroom. Andy looked at her and nodded “If that's fine with you”. He made a mental note of what they would need when their ready to get started. He went over toward his desk and picked up the apron that was folded neatly lying on his desk just where he left it. Before he left this classroom he made sure where everything was and made it spotless. Although sometime he couldn’t do that so he let the janitor clean up.

Mischief listened to the information about the horses, she was toying with the idea of working with horses at a rescue, so having helped rehabilitate horses already would be a big bonus! "Wow, they sound exciting. Just let me know as soon as you need any help and I will do anything I can", Mischief explained, as that conversation dwindled off.
"Thanks", she said as Andy made his offer about being able to talk. "Its always nice to have a willing ear about", she said laughing. She grabbed an apron from the hook, and put it on easily. Organizing herself, she got out everything that she knew she would need from the nearest workstation. A saucepan for the spaghetti and a smaller one for the sauce, the spaghetti, and the kettle, which she plugged in. "So, what's first?"
Whilst she was waiting she decided to question him on his life so far a little, "Ok, I don't really know much about your life before you came to Blue Ridge, anything you would like to share? Amusing little stories of some wild days maybe?" She finished laughing, despite his looks she doubted that there would be many wild stories.
ooc: 200 words dead until I added this lol. Tis pretty short, but all the conversations were getting a bit much and finishing off themselves!
