The brown haired female drove the truck down the freeway. The light fall wind blowing in her face, bringing with it the smells of Autumn, of change and of a new hope. On the back seat were two Labradors, one black and the other a diluted gold. Both were quietly dozing, keeping their mistress a silent company. She was grateful for each day, each one that she could breathe, and do what she loved. Yet that void was just an empty space in her heart. The one that Jax had filled completely and flowed over. The last year had been a kind of hell for her, without her husband, without her love. The sadness was one of her companions, and together came loneliness.

Yet she had come to the Academy to escape all that. It wasn't that she couldn't face home, it was just home held too many painful memories. Too many memories of Jax. Memories of the children they lost. It would be reminding to stay in Germany. Scotland hadn't been her home for awhile, she had only gone home on Christmas to visit the family. The very large family that had extended from her aunt's side, as she was an only child.

She turned onto the highway, and she noticed the change. Buildings became smaller, and farmland grew. Every now and then paddocks would be dotted with horses, or cattle ranches would appear. All to soon the Academy appeared and the dogs noticed the change in their mistress'. Their heads lifted and their ears were pricked. The paddocks were dotted with horses of shapes and sizes. Varying from warmbloods to Quarter Horses. This was going to be an adventure of a different sort.

The main building was easy to spot, and she drew into an empty parking space. For a moment she just sat and gathered her thoughts. For a moment she wondered if she had made the right choice. Getting out of the car, she opened the back door, and the two labs jumped out. Their excited yips could be heard in the surrounding areas, and she quickly called them to heel. They obeyed, but their tails still wagged eagerly. Opening the office door she felt a blast of cool air hit her, and she welcomed it. There was a secretary there, and she walked to the front desk. Hello, I'm Kristin Fitzpatrick. she said with a light Scottish accent, and a friendly smile on her face.
