Anubis had always been a lot of horse. He was intelligent, but he brooded. He was clever and quick, knowing hhow to place his feet and how to navigate rough terrain. He was a wonderful Western horse... But, he just wan't the type of horse for Seamus.
The sixteen year old had learned a lot since coming here. He'd learned that he was more of an English rider than a Western, and he'd learned that Anubis' thoughtful demenor didn't suit him like Loki's playful shenanigans.
It wasn't as though Seamus was close to Anubis. The palomino hadn't been ridden by him once. At the academy, it was hard to find a place where you were safe with a stallion, where no mare could set him off. And, Seamus had never ridden the Walker before heading to the school. Anubis hadn't exactly been the type of horse who fit into the O'Byrne's family breeding. His lines weren't as top notch as they would have liked, even if they were good, and he wasn't a tough competitor.
And so, Seamus' family had given the boy the okay to sell Anubis.
He wasn't expensive. Just $2500. More than an auction horse, yes, but that was because he was trained well, his past was known, and he was a stallion. Otherwise, he would probably go for less.
Right now, Seamus was with the horse, simply grooming him. The placid palomino dozed calmly in his cross ties, one hoof cocked in relaxation. His ears were not pricked nor pinned, and his overall demenor gave off an air of someone who didn't have a care in the world. It brought a slight smile to Seamus' lips and he thought to himself; This Evangeline Reeves is getting a good horse. He just... Wasn't right for me. He patted the muscular neck sadly and sighed.

Evangeline sauntered down the barn alleyway. She sighed heavily, this was a great school full of great horses and probably great people. The thing was, she had been the for over a week now and not one person seemed to show any intrest in her. She didn't really care what kind of attention she got. Be it hateful or playful, she just wanted to be noticed some how. Anyway, that wasn't why she was here. She was here to buy a horse, that's all she seemed to be able to do around here that was actually enetertaining and exciting. That and riding.
Sadly, though, this would be her last horse for a long time, or at least until she sold one and bought a new one. Tennessee Walkers weren't exactly her thing, but she heard this guy was amazing under a Western saddle, so she was quite eager to see what he had.
Evangeline walked briskly, picking up her pace down the barn, touching the stallions on the nose as she passed. Then she saw the palomino in the cross ties, head low with relaxation, lips and eyelids drooping. Oh, to be able to get that comfy while standing. Then she saw the boy and walked to him, smiling politely.
"You must be Seamus." She said to him, then looked to the Walker. "And this must be Anubis."

He looked up at her and offered her one of his rare smiles, holding out his hand to her. "Ms. Reeves, I presume?" he asked, nodding to her. "It's a pleasure. As you have guessed, I am Seamus, and this is Feather of Truth, or, Anubis. Let me finish brushing him down, and then we'll saddle him up."
He turned back to the horse, but kept talking. "I've not seen you around the campus, Ms. Reeves, so I'll assume you're new. Are you enjoying the academy?"
Anubis raised his head and gazed at the woman for a few moments before dropping it again. No need to get worked up over a new person. No need to waste energy for something like a new person. that would be illogical.
Seamus stopped his brushing and motioned that he'd be right back before running off to fetch Anubis' tack. As he got it down from the rack in the tack room, he thought on Evangeline. She was older than he, and quite pretty. He didn't like her though, so don't get any assumptions. his heart would always belong to Cara, or at least, that was what his young, teenage mind believed.
He carried the gear out and quikly got the pad onto the stallion's back. Next came the huge Western saddle, and while most teenage boys, no matter how strong they were, would have struggled under it's immense size, Seamus easily used his six foot form to his advantage. Soon, the saddle was on the horse's back, and he was almost cinched. Seamus let the palomino breath for a bit while he got the bridle over the Walker's head.
When the tack was set and all the buckles were in the proper holes, Seamus turned back to Evangeline. He handed her the reins. "Lead on, madame."

"I'm new, yes." Evangeline nodded, stroking the stallions head and pressing her lips to his forhead every now and then. Her red hair tickling his nose as she did so. "The academy is quite nice." She said, glancing to him for a moment. Sje wasn't exactly sure what to say because she wasn't really enjoying herself, was she? Not yet, anyway.
She watched Seamus leave with a slight frown, he seemed like a nice kid, she thought. He was just way to proper, she understood he was being polite, but being called Ms Reeves made her feel like a 70 year old woman, which she certainly wasn't. "So, are you going to be a good boy for me, Anubis? Show me how awesome you are?"
Evangeline had been on stallions many times before, so it was nothing new to her, but just like most other people, getting on an unknown stallion made her slightly nervous. Though, this guy looked absolutely harmless. She was convinced this horse was actually a 20 year old mare and Seamus was cheating her out of her money. No, that's just silly.
Seamus returned with the saddle then, and Eva watched him. She noted that he was an attractive man, but she certainly wasn't interested. She liked the older guys. She took the reins her hands and patted the stallion, clicking her tongue and lead the stallion forward. "Please just call me Evangeline, or even Eva, just stop with the proper talk." She snapped slightly, not really sounding too rude or harsh, just simply putting it out there.

Seamus looked at her when she answered hesitantly and gave her a crooked smile. "They can be a rather cold lot, can't they?" His eyes were sympathetic, for he'd gone through the same thing.
As they walked out and Evangeline snapped at him, Seamus reacted differantly. Instead of getting offended by her tone, he visably relaxed. He blew out a sigh happily and grinned at her. "Thank God you're not one of those people who demand to be addressed in fancy talk. I may have a somewhat English accent, but it's also Australian. I'm rather lazy when I talk."
He kept pace with the woman, his eyes set ahead as he began to talk about Anubis. "He's good with his commands, but he sometimes has trouble with the right lead when first picking it up. He also has this weird tendancy to lope a little sideways, but if you nudge him right he'll straighten out. Mind the bit, or else he'll grab it... Otherwise, he should be fine. i've not really had the chance to ride him seriously, but I know that he likes to push buttons." He paused for a minute before asking, "So, what other horses do yoiu have, if you've got any?"
By this time, they had arrived at the arena. Seamus opened the gate for her, waiting for her to go through. He wasn't trying to be proper or anything; he may be lazy with words, but he still believed in common courtesy.

Evangeline eyed him with a weird look, raising one eyebrow slightly. "Do I look like some one who speaks proper?" She laughed lightly, motoining to herself. Her attire was rather frumpy and grungy, with old frayed jeans and a large baggy t-shirt that belonged to her old boyfriend. Her red hung in a loose ponytail that sagged to one side of her head.
She glanced to him as he talked, nodding slightly at his words."I'm sure he is a good boy, and if not, he'll learn to be." She smirked and walked into the arena as he held the gate. She stopped the stallion off to the side and checked the cinch to see if it needed tightening. She gave it a quick pull and checked the stirrups, setting them to her length. She was now all set. With a quick word to Anubis, she mounted, gathering up her reins and placing her feet firmly into the stirrups, heel down.
"Okay, big man, show me what you got." Evangeline clicked her tounge, urging the stallion into a trot. She worked him on half the arena, taking him in a small figure 8 until she was comfortable with him. Then she took over the rest of the arena, moving him into a lope going counter clockwise. He moved smoothly, ans she smiled, patting his neck. "What is he trained in? Just pleasure?" She asked Seamus, slowing the stallion to a walk.
