Full Name: Theresa Lilac Godfrey
Nick Names: Resa
Student or Staff: Staff – Geography Teacher
Age: 23
Ethnicity: British
Gender: Female
Physical Description:
Hair: Black, and kept cut to slightly longer than shoulder length. Naturally curly, Theresa usually keeps it loose, as it has the enviable ability of remaining neat despite adverse conditions such as rain, wind, and irritation. She braids it when she rides, though, to keep it neatly out the way.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Build: Long and leggy, Theresa has a certain casual grace about her. About 165cm tall, she’s neither particularly skinny, nor particularly curvy, instead striking a nice middle ground that suits her very well. Her elegant frame belies the amount of muscle it contains, and she was a wiry strength about her.
Tattoos/piercing: Two holes in each ear for earrings, at least one pair of which is almost always filled.
Voice: Quite softly spoken, Theresa’s voice is a pleasantly low soprano.
Personality:
Likes:
+ Highly gregarious, Theresa’s always happiest when she’s around other people, and if she is unable to interact with others for long periods of time, gets very unhappy and depressed.
+ Warm weather. Clear days and bright sun are an instant recipe for a happy Resa.
+ Happiness. Theresa’s happiest when everyone around her is; and if she sees someone who isn’t, she’ll feel the need to intervene.
+ Horses! A relatively new passion, she feels that it’s going to be a long lasting one. Gaited horses, in particular, are her specialty.
Dislikes and fears:
+ Those who are cruel to others. She’s never understood the rationale behind anyone being mean to anyone else, and so highly disapproves of anyone who likes to prey on those weaker than them.
+ She’s not particularly keen on heights.
The first thing that strikes you about Theresa is that she cares. She really does, about absolutely anyone, and anything, and deeply, too. Anyone who crosses her path will find themselves being mothered by her – even if they are older than she is. That doesn’t stop her in the slightest, and she has such an honestly caring personality that, somehow, she gets away with it. She can be a little smothering, though, and sometimes finds it hard to accept the concepts of personal space.
Warm and open, she’ll make friends with utterly anyone, and is always willing to believe the best of people, no matter what. This rather naive attitude, though it can be harmful, can also sometimes make people go along with her: because she believes so utterly that they can do what she asks, they do it. She tends to believe in people a great deal, in fact, and is always optimistic no matter what the evidence to the contrary is.
In fact, that is a great deal of Resa’s philosophy. She tends to believe in people… and that somehow inspires people to act. She doesn’t get into arguments, no, instead she’ll very calmly, very patiently discuss something; and before you know where you are, she’s convinced you that you really did want to help out with the upcoming school dance.
Still slightly insecure in her position as a teacher rather than a student, she’s more likely to listen to people than assert her opinion, and frequently doesn’t put her foot down quite firmly enough, hoping to that the good nature of people will yield positive results, when in fact a slightly firmer hand might be a good idea. Much of her philosophy, though, is based on the principle of understanding people, and it is through that basis that she tries to live her life.
Beneath the surface, there is, in fact, a great deal of strength underneath that soft exterior. She doesn’t proclaim it loudly, but when push comes to shove, she will dig her heels in, and even if she does hate to have to enter into an argument (and, in fact, generally isn’t very good at arguing) she will if she has to, however reluctantly.
Background:
Family:
Mother; Delilah Godfrey, nee Wilson, 49, lawyer.
Father; Thomas Godfrey, 48, doctor (pediatrician).
Aunt (mother’s side): Penelope White, nee Wilson, 50, interior designer.
Uncle: Francis White, 52, accountant.
Cousin: Samantha White, 24, botanist.
Delilah and Thomas Godfrey, like so many others, met at University. In their case, it was St. Andrews, and four years after their first meeting they were married, four years after that, and both of them were finally working full-time jobs, Delilah as a lawyer specialising in property management, and Thomas as a GP doctor, later focusing himself into looking after children.
Theresa was born as the only child of these two successful people, and so lived a charmed childhood, being in that lucky position of having parents who were both well-off, and who cared about her deeply. Though she had no siblings, she was very close to her slightly older cousin Samantha, who only lived on the other side of London. They saw each other often, despite going to different schools, and keep in close contact even today.
Educated at good schools, Theresa was eleven when, on a whim, she went with her parents to the Horse of the Year Show, and promptly fell in love with the creatures, asking – and receiving – riding lessons. It was only when she went to University, however – Cambridge, much to her delight, where she studied Geography – that she really got into riding, and began to take it seriously. She discovered, shortly after being introduced to the concept by a friend, that her true passion in riding was with gaited horses, and riding Western, and so had to learn a completely different style of riding. Today, she mostly rides Western, or in a style specific to the particular breed, though she does retain her English riding skills.
After finishing her degree, she went into teaching. Having, by chance of her birthdate, ended up finishing her first degree, a three-year one, when she was only 21, she found that she was at the younger end of those looking for employment in secondary skills. Deciding, mostly on a whim and for the chance of adventure, to move to the US, she found a part-time job teaching at a school in Colorado, which is where she acquired her first horse, the Peruvian Paso that she still owns today, and shortly after her second, her Tenessee Walking Horse mare.
Wanting a permanent job, she was forever scouring job lists – and when she saw that there was a teaching position open at Blue Ridge, knew that this was where she wanted to be. A chance to ride seriously, as well as teach? What could possibly be better?
Misc.: Owns and rides two horses - profiles coming soon.
Also owns one mixed-breed cat, Granite.
