PERSONALITY:
She is a delightful old soul. She brings joy to who ever she speaks to as she is always in such a good mood and loves to spread it. The older woman is always willing to help, to solve problems another may be having. She is easy to trust and easy to get along with which makes her a prime candidate for others to confined in. She would never share someones problems if they did not want to, she values peoples privacy and feels honored that someone would tell her something personal. She knows how hard it can be.
Mavis is a devout Christian, she has been since she turned eighteen. She's not one of those people who would force someone into believing in God, that would be wrong. But, if anyone is willing to listen, she would happily shed some light to them about it. She carrys around an old, beaten up bible everywhere.
Strict. As a youngster, she got into all kinds of trouble. Then, she had children of her own and knew what she had put her mother through. She smartened up and became a head instructor at a riding school when she was just 21, working there for 30 years. The students adored her, and also loved to please her. She would offer constructive criticism and praise for all student, but took no messing around in her classes.

FAMILY:
FIRST HUSBAND: Morty Francis, 66 years. (Married from 1961-1965) Turned out gay after their first child. Mavis was distraught for a while, but accepted it quickly. They still keep a strong friendship and she adores Morty's new husband. He turned her into a Christian.
SECOND HUSBAND: Derek Richards, 65 years. (Married from 1968-2006) Died in a car accident. Mavis died a little inside when Derek died, she had had four more children with him, and he was the love of her life. She will never ever forget him.
DAUGHTERS: Gabby Francis, 46.
Melanie Richards, 41.
Hannah Richards, 35.
Mavis has a strong bond with all three daughters, but Gabby is closer to her father. She does not care that he is gay, she loves him for who he is. Mavis does not mind that she comes second, she likes how well Gabby gets on with Morty. Her other two daughters also adore Morty.
SONS: Matthew Richards, 39.
Daniel Richards, 37.
Mavis's sons adore her, they would do anything for her. They really are mothers boys. She, in exchange, would do the same thing back. The pair are extremely close too, and with Hannah as there is only two years separating the three. Melanie is two years older than Matthew, but she is closer to Gabby. The brothers protect their mother and their youngest sister with their lives.
HISTORY:
As a youngster, she got into much trouble. Alcohol, smoking. Not drugs, thats where she drew the line. At 16, she got married to Morty. He showed her the error of her ways and she became a Christian. Her life became devoted to her religion. She had been riding since she was 6 years old, but now she threw herself into it. She became a head instructor, Morty left her at 22, she had been teaching a year. She took a year off and then threw herself back in, her daughter in tow.
Re-married, She had four other children and thought the world of them. Gabby, her eldest, Matthew and Hannah all adored riding, the other two preferred to do their own thing. Her husband didn't like the whole riding thing so took the other two to what their hobbies were. The years flew by happily, care free with no hiccups. Then, a tragic day came. Derek was involved in a car accident, and it was fatal. He was dead before they got him in the ambulance. The whole family grieved, and it wasn't really the same again.
Mavis had already retired from teaching, she decided to move from barn to barn with her pair of drafts. Her children were old enough to do so. She had been looking for a new place when and advert for a barn manager appealed to her. She leapt at the chance and now is arriving at BRRA with her drafts and cat. Will she get on? Will the youngsters, and adults, adore her like she has been in every other stables? She hopes so.
