Hi there for all who are interested! My name is Giana Liking, and I am the Western instructor and trainer at Blue Ridge. I have been told that equestrian teams are now being formed, so I have taken it upon myself to get the Western team started. The schedule is as follows:
JULY FIFTEENTH - all applicants will report to the indoor arena for the first cut. Those who do not make it will not be allowed to the day after. Those who are not cut will report July sixteenth.
JULY SIXTEENTH - exact disciplines. Starting at nine o'clock, we will do Western Pleasure. At ten, there will be trail, from twelve to three, there will be gymkhana, at four to six, there will be cutting, roping, and reining. At seven, the results will be posted.
JULY NINETEENTH - first practice as a team. There will be four to six positions open for the team.
As far as equipment, don't use show saddles unless for the pleasure class, but that is not necessary. Horses must be clean and under control at all times. Horses or are ill or injured will be taken back to their stalls, and a school horse will be used. Only horses over six years will be accepted, and horses under eighteen for gymkhana, cutting, roping and reining. Horses under twenty two will be allowed for Pleasure and Trail classes, but only special cases. Riders must be over the age of fourteen, and have basic horse skills.

Please fill out the horse code twice if you are trying out with two different horses. If you do not have the correct equipment, please contact me directly.
