I don't know if anyone else has seen this, I'm guessing those of you not in England probably won't have yet, but I just saw this on the news. Two horses died moments apart whilst in the parade ring today at Newbury Race Course in the first race. That race continued but the rest of the racing has been cancelled. Apparently the horses were electrocuted from the grass they were on Fenix Two and Matching Song were the two horses. If you google it, you'll most likely get a lot of results. It's already up on the websites of pretty much all major British papers, and the racing sites. I'm just so shocked - no one has any evidence yet about how they actually died

Oh wow! What a freak accident! The metal shoes would explain a not, and the fact that most shoes on people have rubber soles. That had to be one helluva current or something to knock them dead like that. That is the craziest thing I have heard. They said there were scald marks, perhaps when the horses went down and actually touched the grass? Think of if a human had done that!
I wonder if it was just a one time thing, or the electric current is still going on??

I know! Still waiting on post mortem results of the horses - hopefully that will say cause of death for certain. The electricity company responsible for that area has investigated and there is and old cable under the paddock that everyone seemed to have forgotten about. The people touching them - even after they had passed away - were reportedly gettting shocks off the horses's and their tack.
