Hello students of BRRA. I am Lexie Dixon, your new Polo Coach. I know the academy has never had a Polo team, and I'm excited to bring the sport to your attention. I have been playing Polo for just over ten years and have much experience. Polo is usually played in Spring and Summer competitively, but we shall train all year round.
Here is a quick description of the sport, you shall learn more when we start practicing:
Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team. Players score by driving a small white plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team's goal using a long-handled mallet. The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large grass field up to 300 yards in length, and each polo team consists of four riders and their mounts.
I have a team of horses to be used by us. You shall be assigned to a specific horse to use, and shall probably use this horse throughout the whole Polo season. I may switch it up at times if there is a request or I feel you are not getting along with the horse. You must NEVER bring your own horse to the class, all of these horses have been specifically trained to play Polo, I do not have the time to help you train your own horse.
Before I can start with teaching you how to play Polo, I have to pair you up with the correct horse. About two sessions will be devoted to this, as I have some problematic horses I have to spend a lot of time on paring up with a suitable rider. Please, no arguments about who I put you on or that you dislike your mount, You can address me after a few sessions if you still feel uncomfortable.
Also, before we can start, we need at least eight riders. If we do not have this many, we cannot have a team. If we have a lot of people signing up, I shall create another team to alternate.
So, after this lengthy note, do you still want to join the team? Fill in this sign up form and I'll announce when we shall start. Thank you for taking time out of your busy teenage schedule's to read this.
