Dear Grandma
Thank you and Granddad for the money you sent to me. In the card you asked me to let you know what I have done with the money. Well, I did the unthinkable, I bought a horse. He's a huge gelding who (they say) does everything my mare used to do. Now? I just need to find the courage to actually get on him. There are a number of people around here who will jump at the chance to help me out.
The gelding? I've included a photo of him so that you can see what he's like for yourselves (you can come any time you like to see him). He's a five year old, grey sabino. He's a Percheron x Quarter Horse x Sport Horse (and I guess I really should have taken him for a test drive first). I'm just hoping that I am cut out for him. Oh! His name is Jill's Jumping Jack, but I'm throwing names around as I don't want to compete a gelding with Jill in his name - what will the other geldings think? I was thinking that I could call him Triple J, or, J3 even just Jumping Jack.
I so want to become the person I was before... I miss her so much! Every time I look at the horses here, all I can think of is that day. The day that my... our world ended.
I look forward to hearing from you.
All my love Andie

Dear Grandma
How are you and Gramps? I know it's been forever since I have actually written a proper letter (and you can't count the Christmas card either), and I'm really sorry about that.
Things here are pretty busy, the squad is doing well, I have a couple of new members and we actually have a coach now, but I'm not sure how long that will last though, especially if she tries to take over my squad. Oops, sorry, I'll stop venting.
On to more important things, HORSES!!!! Things are going awesome with me and Jack!! We're working at Grand Prix level and he loves it!! On a sad note though, Blue the Belgian Warmblood I got from the last auction, isn't turning out how I hoped and even though I've tried to turn her into an eventer, she just doesn't have the wow-factor. She seems terrified of cross country and just doesn't have the finese needed for show jumping and dressage. So, after much humming and harring, I have decided that Blue and I need to go our different ways as I need another mount I can compete with so that I'm not only using Jack - he doesn't deserve that.
How are things going at the Ranch? How are all the horses? How are the yearlings coming along? How are the two year olds handling their training? I want to know everything!!!
Before I head off, I have met a really sweet boy here at school. His name is Kent and his parents own and run a Trakehner, breeding farm. There's nothing going on between us, so you don't need to worry about that kind of thing.
All my love Andie
