The Personality
Personality: North is a sweet horse who loves being loved on. A lot of people can't believe at first that he was used as a breeding stallion since he was two until he was gelded, as he's so laid back, and not all of his relaxed personality comes from his training, a lot of it is natural, as he has an excellent temperament and mindset that he nearly always passed on to his get.
North loves people and can get very nosy when he feels he isn't receiving the attention he deserves. He's playful and still acts like a youngster in that when he's bored, he plays games such as stealing brushes, hats, riding crops, etc… whatever he can get his mouth on. If you're ever missing something, it can probably be found in his stall, as that's where he 'hoards' the things he steals.
North is also a little pesky in that he's very smart and often gets into things he shouldn't, such as knocking a wheel-barrel over when his stall is being cleaned, untying ropes, and finding ways to annoy humans in general. He is a real character and loves to sunbathe, which often can frighten barn hands and other people who don't know his habits, as when sunbathing, he will lie completely still and ignore everyone, not even twitching when his name is called. North is definitely an odd-but-lovable horse who somehow manages to worm his way into just about everyone's hearts.
Caution Around: He's constantly testing peoples limits
The History
Basic History: North isn't typical of the Thoroughbred breed in that he's not super high-strung or hard to handle most days. He's a total sweetheart and has had extensive groundwork and under-saddle training. Truthfully, he only gets hard to handle very rarely and even then, he's not too bad thanks to his training. He was bought by Gabriel as a weanling at a small-town auction, as his breeders fell on hard times and had to sell most of their stock. Originally, North is from a huge race-horse breeding center in Kentucky. His bloodlines can be traced to Affirmed, Black Gold, Citation, John Henry, Seattle Slew, Sir Barton, and Northern Dancer. As stated before, North is bred to run, top and bottom.
He would have made an excellent racehorse. North was used as a breeding stud in addition to being a competition horse until he and his owner moved to Blue Ridge and he was gelded. North is an excellent Eventing horse and loves Cross-Country. He is also a great jumper and is very athletic, though he isn't too impressed with Dressage, as, being from racing lines, North has a love of running. In the Cross-Country portion of Eventing, he often has to be checked because he always wants to go faster. He's extremely competitive with other horses as well.
