Well, I figured I should get a thread up to talk to you guys!
Anyway, I decided to join this site because I was a member on here back several years ago (in 2009). I joined back then (don't remember my characters) but I wasn't a member for very long. If I remember correctly, my computer crashed and I was internet-less for several months. By the time I got my computer back from the shop (with the hard-drive completely erased and renewed) I didn't remember the site's name and figured I had been deleted due to inactivity, which was ok by me, because at that point in my life, I was starting college and didn't have time for roleplaying.
So, that's my backstory. Yall can call me by my alias, Ravvi. I do have my own horses. I own two (well, I guess you could say three technically, more on that later).
So, my horses:
I have an 18 year old TWH mare named Gypsie. She's 15-1 hands tall and is partially retired now due to arithritis. She loves to run, though, and is on a joint supplement now, so is still sound for rides under five miles. I only ride her once or twice a week and usually not very far. I still canter and gallop her, but not near as much as I used to. Gypsie is, I think, enjoying her partial retirement now, though at first she hated it.
Next is my pride and joy, my 6 year old TWH gelding Dakota. He is out of my mare Gypsie and by a true black TWH stallion named Mack's Alabama Bear. I've raised him from his birth and have done all of his training. Dakota outgrew both his sire (who stands at 15 hands even) and his dam and stands at a huge 15-3 hands and, as a plus, he's quite stocky, like the 'old style' Tennessee Walkers. I work with him every weekend and we ride about three times a week, though not very far at the moment, as I'm working at teaching him things on our rides and am not riding just for leisure pleasure right now.
Now, my third horse... technically he's been sold, but he's still with me at the moment because his new owner lives up north in another state and is going to have to pay a hauler to come get him next month sometime. His name is Jaxxon and he's a (recently gelded) Quarterhorse. I was given him for free a little over two years ago because his then-owners had had him for sale for over a year and no-one was interested in him. Jaxxon is only four years old and is about 15-1 hands. I've done most of his training myself and he rides quite well considering he is still what I consider 'greenbroke' (I haven't ridden him consistently at all). He's easily the smartest and most willing to please horse I've ever met and up until just about two months ago he was a cryptorchid. We may also soon have a foal of his running around, as my cousin's mare broke into his pasture a few months ago and he bred her before I could remove her from the pasture.
(All of these pictures were taken when he was still a stallion)
