Oct 4,
Gabriel,
It was so nice to hear from you! We miss you lots, you know. Oh, I know you don't really believe that about your uncle, but it's true. He misses you just as much as I do! Things are going well out here. Your uncle's still the same griping and grumbling old man that he's always been. Mrs. Walker down the street brought me some of her peaches the other day to make a peach pie. I wish you had been here, I know you've always liked peach pie.
Your uncle and I are very glad things are settling in well up there. I'm glad you like your job, I always knew you could be good, even if your uncle didn't believe it. Speaking of your uncle, he told me to tell you to, and I quote, "Geld that horse!" unquote. I know you don't want to. Your uncle's just a stick in the mud, don't listen to him and you just do what you think is best for that horse of yours. He's your horse, not anyone elses.
Write back! I'll be looking forwards to your letters!
Love, Aunt Estella

Nov 25,
Nephew,
I'm glad you finally got that menace gelded. Maybe it'll tone down his attitude some. Of coure, you will still probably argue that the creature doesn't have an attitude, won't you? I'll say it here and now, Gabriel, you do not need another horse, and I refuse to help you get another one. One is enough. North's enough trouble for five horses.
I remember that girl. You're right, I don't like nor do I approve of the girl. She's trouble waiting to happen an-
Gabriel, this is your aunt. Don't listen to a thing your uncle writes or say. You know he's just a 'grouchy old man'. I forgive you for cutting our lunch short. We'll have to try again sometime. Maybe supper on a weekend? Maybe this coming weekend or next weekend?
I vaguely remember your friend. Wasn't she the girl you always stayed in trouble with? I'm pretty sure that's her. So, she's there at Blue Ridge? What a coincidence! It's good to know you have an old friend to hang out with.
Write us back soon, please, and don't let your uncle get you upset!
Love, Aunt and Uncle
