Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Adelaide is an honest, friendly person infused with positive energy. She has no social restraints, and thus has no reservations about joining a conversation with people whom she has never seen before. She is true to her friends and is always open to make new ones. However, Adelaide can never seem to settle down with one group of friends. She is constantly floating from group to group, spending enough time with each group to get to know them but never enough time to be one of them. Because of this, she has never had a best friend for more than a few months.
Adelaide is quirky. It is not uncommon to catch her dancing while walking or making strange sounds to help describe her emotions. Also, she is constantly talking to her pet rat. While her quirkiness may make her seem absentminded, Adelaide is determined to be successful in the horse world on her relatively limited budget and get straight A's while climbing her way to the top. She is certainly one of a kind.
Likes>> horses; rats; sweets; books; nature
Dislikes>> expensive things; dishonesty; rudeness; pollution; drugs
Fears>> the dark; small spaces
Hopes>> being successful regardless of a limited budget; settle down and find a steady friend
Secrets>> she's adopted
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Adelaide has a young look about her - and when I say young, I mean young like a child. She stands at a mere 5'4" and weighs about 115lbs. Her face is round and her cheeks are full, and her nose only solidifies her childish face. She has thin, medium-length chestnut brown hair with light brown eyes to match. Her lips are full and are almost always curved to make a smile. Adelaide has a tiny body with very few curves. She has narrow shoulders and hips, and her waist forms only the slightest hourglass shape.
Adelaide is very simplistic in terms of fashion. On most days you'll find her in old jeans and a t-shirt. When she's trying to look good, you might find her in slightly newer jeans and a slightly fitted t-shirt, but that would be a rare occasion. She owns a few beaten up pairs of Converse sneakers. Riding, she wears an old pair of breeches with a t-shirt and her worn-in paddock boots and half chaps. You'll find that Adelaide does most of her shopping at bargain stores and secondhand shops, preferring to spend the bulk of her money on the upkeep of her horse.
Markings>> Pierced ear lobes, but she never wears earrings.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Sprained wrist.
Criminal History>> None.
Full History>> Adelaide was born on February 2nd in Wakefield, Nebraska to an 18 year old woman just starting college. She was adopted by a loving family from upstate New York. Adelaide's parents, Jack and Kelly, gave her everything they could. They had her try soccer, gymnastics, and softball, but once they got her on a pony at the age of 7, there was only one thing Adelaide wanted to do.
Not being particularly well-off, Adelaide's parents struggled to find the means to allow Adelaide to learn how to horseback ride. They started spending less and saving more, using the extra money to get Adelaide lessons and riding clothing for a quickly growing girl. Countless times they reminded her of the fun she had playing soccer, and the cool things she could learn to do if she continued gymnastics, but they knew their efforts to sway Adelaide toward a more affordable sport were futile. Adelaide was never more at home than when she was on a horse - they could see that clearly.
Adelaide's parents made a deal with her that if she would do well in school, they would find a way to keep her on a horse. Consequently, Adelaide never got below a B+ in any class. This was not a particularly easy task as Adelaide doesn't have anything more than an average intelligence. She took academics seriously, and puts a great amount of effort into every class she takes.
As Adelaide's riding progressed, she watched as her peers leased ponies and started competing, and then horses later on. Meanwhile, Adelaide was working as their groom in order to pay for lessons. However, there was no denying that she was gifted with a horse. Her trainer took notice of this, and started placing Adelaide on the younger, more challenging horses. Adelaide quickly learned how to deal with the unpredictability of a hot thoroughbred and the strength of a 17h warmblood. She could ride whatever horse her trainer asked her to without hesitation, and make it look easy.
Wanting to own a horse of her own, Adelaide saved her money for years in order to buy a cheap thoroughbred fresh off the track. She is going to Blue Ridge Academy with the hopes of finding more opportunities for her and her young, green horse at a school in which academics and horses are not completely separate. Adelaide hopes to climb the ladder of success here, but it will be a miracle if she can simply get by...
We found love in a hopeless place
Pet Name>> Beast
Registered Name>> N/A
Age>> 3 months
Species>> Rodent
Breed>> Dumbo rex rat
Registry>> N/A
Personality>> Beast's name is certainly ironic. He is a cuddly ball of fur always looking for the warmth of a body. He is not the most active rat in the world. You will most likely find him lying on a hammock in his cage. When Adelaide's hand appears in his cage, however, he will make his way to that hand expecting to be picked up and given attention. Adelaide never has any fear of taking him out of his cage and putting him down on her bed without any sort of restraint - he'll always find a warm soft spot in her blankets and watch her go about her business. He can be a little shy with strangers and often will cower in Adelaide's palm when she introduces him to a new person, but he quickly warms up to the person and becomes his regular friendly self.
History>> Beast was bred by a knowledgeable rat breeder looking to make a line of rats targeting specific genes and features. Beast, unfortunately for the breeder, did not display any of the more rare traits the breeder was looking for and thus was put up for adoption. Adelaide, looking for a pet she could take to school with her that didn't require as much maintenance as a dog, gladly adopted Beast. She has had him for about a month.
