Dear Mom,
Hey mom, it's Sam. I felt really bad about the quick phone calls or sending you texts. Wanted you to know that I'm having a great time at Blue Ridge. There are so many things I could tell you about it here. I really hope Rach gets to come here someday, I know she'd absolutely love it! Anyway on to the fun stuff.
I guess I'll start with sports. I don't think there is a track coach here, which really sucks. Same with volleyball. Swimming hasn't started yet, but I'll let you know how that goes soon. Gymnastics is killer right now. It started with four of us, which I was happy about, then went to five, and back to four. In the last couple of days three more girls have shown up. I'm getting really nervous. Cara, Keri, who is my roommate, Alia and I are the main girls, for now. At least I got gold in our last meet. I was on the floor so I was in my element.
On to the horses. Well, Goliat is doing quite amazing!! We came in second in the last barrel racing show to Sara. I am very proud of him and we earned a ton of money too, which is always a bonus. Popeye was on stall rest all week. I may have babied him a little too much but he pulled a muscle. I feel really guilty, like it is all my fault. He recovered nicely though. We came in second in the show jumping competition to Cara. I have to give credit to that girl. She is the most dedicated person I have ever met. Oh, and I joined the rescue program too. I picked a gorgeous Belgian Warmblood. She is horribly skinny, but she is coming along very well. The sweetest horse I have met.
I haven't had much time to get out but there are a large variety of people in my classes so I have met a bunch of new people. Most of the students are nice but there are some exceptions. Had a little 'interaction' with a girl in one of the jumping arena's that changed my mind a little bit. Apparently she thinks she is just so amazing and above everyone else. I decided to humor her though by doing what she suggested, even though I knew what to do in the first place. Back to Keri though. She is really nice and we get along really well. She is about a year younger than me I think.
They have kept me pretty busy with homework in class. Late night homework sessions after practice just makes my day. We have to take equine electives also, so I am in hunter/jumper, reining I, and equine reproduction/foal handling. I figure that the equine repro will go well on my resume. I got assigned to a beautiful black Arabian mare. Sir Solomon gave me a picture of the stud and I almost died when I saw him. I send it to you with this letter.
My hair is now dark brown, which I adore, and I can't find my contacts. I think I left them at home. Can you send them back to me soon? Skips is huge. I can not believe how much she has grown in the last couple of months here. I'll send you a pic of her.
Alright, forget about me now, it's your turn. How is everything back home? Miss me at all? I want to know how everything is back home too!!
Love,
Sam
