Personality>> Mercedes is is a sharp, sarcastic and borderline fearless young woman. She's wild, restless, fiercely independent and in love with her freedom, hating the feeling of being trapped or tied down to anything that may try to keep her in one place. She's very bold, usually saying whatever comes to her mind without any remorse or guilt. If you don't like her opinion, then don't ask. She sugar coats nothing for the benefit of surrounding ears. She has an aggressive and domineering temper that's easily triggered and she's not quick to trust others. Her true trust and respect is something you could take years to earn, but only a moment to have ripped away. She's been hurt too many times in the past and has no intention of letting that happen again as long as she has anything to say about it.
Rough edges aside, Mercy is actually a sweet girl on the inside. She's just wary of others, especially men, and despises the feeling of weakness. She's a loyal friend, one you'll have to the day you die if you play your cards right and is very protective of those younger than her. She has an almost cynical big sister air about her when confronted with kids that need help and can often offer good advice and support to those who really need it. She'd never turn down a child in need, even if she wanted to.
However her personality does a complete flip of the coin when it comes to the way she interacts with animals, especially horses. They calm and sooth her, leaving behind something peaceful, shy and quiet like a timid deer. The affect is very hard to explain in better words, but it causes the few times that Mercy's let down her guard and allowed her hard shell to be cracked.
Likes>> Bikes and classic cars, boxing, belly dancing, the smell of vanilla, cinnamon chocolate, riding bareback, late night swims, the fall, archery, Thai food, country and rock music, aikido, history and different cultures.
Dislikes>> Being cooped up inside, abusers and users, public transportation, two faced people, prejudice, kids who think they're "gangsters", sagging pants, being told "I can't", peanuts, and people with little common sense.
Fears>> Falling in love and tight, cramped spaces.
Hopes>> Mercedes hopes to be a youth counselor and wants to open a horse sanctuary.
Secrets>> If I told you it wouldn't be a secret, now would it? Oh well, Miss Mercy was almost married to a soldier who was nine years older than she was back when she herself was only sixteen.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Coming from Native American heritage (Nez Perc and Lakota) Mercedes has a deep, warm, copper colored skin tone that compliments her body's lean and lithe build nicely. She's 5' 8'' with long legs and a slightly curved hourglass shaped torso. Her facial features are smooth with high cheek-bones and pouty lips and deep hazel colored eyes, all framed by by chest length, lightly waved black hair.
Don't let her feminine form fool you though. Mercy is surprisingly powerful for her age, gender and size. The girl can really pack and punch if she's pushed to and she's built to run for ages before finally starting to wear out.
Markings>> She has her ears and navel priced, a tattoo of a dream catcher on the back of her neck and multiple scares along her thighs.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> She broke her arm once as a child, but it's fully healed and hasn't given her any problems since. She's also deathly allergic to peanuts and has to carry an epipen with her.
Criminal History>> Oh yeah! Lets see... Vandalism, breaking an entry, speeding, resisting arrest, public indecency, disorderly conduct, shoplifting, accessory to a crime, under aged drinking, assault.....need I list more?
Full History>> Born in Montana U.S Mercy was raised on a small reservation populated by a mixing pot of different tribes by her grandfather. Being out in the middle of nowhere can have both good and bad side affects on kids, you can learn how to live off the land and take care of yourself without most of the so called luxuries in life and it can teach you to be grateful for what little you do have. It also gives a kid an opportunity to learn more about your traditions and heritage..... But on the other hand, being trapped in one place for so long, with the same scene and the same people every day can really get to you after a while. Between the boredom, lack of new experiences and the never ending stream of people knowing everything their neighbor is doing (or at least thinking they do) with everyone and their dog in your personal business it can be enough to make you want to rip out your hair some days.
Feeling trapped is what put Mercedes on a bad track in the first place. When she was fourteen she started hanging out with the wrong group of kids. Over the years she got herself into a lot of trouble. She can't even count how many times she was taken home to her grandfather in the back of a patrol car. It was when she turned sixteen that she really messed up. She was given a choice of either going to a juvenile detention hall, or entering a program called Circle Justice. The program tries to help people who made mistakes in their lives find redemption and make up for what ever they may have done by making them follow out some kind of task or challenge in order to find themselves and learn whatever lessons that may need to be taught.
The leaders of the group believe that sending people to prison only hardens them and does nothing to teach or heal either the victims or the culprits. It just leaves them in a cold, empty environment where pain and bitterness is left to fester like a wound on both sides. Forming nothing but more hate and anger than there was before.
Many people doubt that the program works, but Mercedes swears that if you're willing and ready to learn and change, then Circle Justice can turn your life right-side-out.
Her own sentence was being dumped for two and a half years with a small group of cattle ranchers, practically living in the saddle for twenty hours a day, six days a week where she not only helped drive the cattle, but learned how to work with conservationists to study and keep track of the dwindling numbers in local mustang herds.
Mercedes won't talk about what exactly happened to her in that time, but it's changed her life for the better and cleared her of her criminal records.
Now she's at Blueridge to climb her way up the ladder and put what she was taught to good use. She has hopes of becoming a youth counselor here and helping troubled kids like herself get back on their feet and a taste of reality, if needed.
We found love in a hopeless place
