The Personality
Personality:
Being quite young, Dev does like to test you sometimes. He doesn’t spooked easily however and has quite a lot of over-confidence. The only thing he actually really freaks about is balls due the fact he got hit in the face by a football. He can be a handful if you don’t treat him correctly or firmly, but otherwise he can really try. He learns good and bad things very quickly, as the horse is quite curious and intelligent. He does have his own personality as well and likes to talk a lot to humans. Dev prefers to hang out around other geldings than mares because despite his usual bravado toward jumps, the horse acts like a little foal in front of other horses. In some ways, he is a bit submissive and doesn’t mind being at the bottom of the totem pole in a pasture. Fortunately due to his size, he does defend himself if a horse were to kick or bite, but generally the gelding keeps to himself.
Caution Around: Aggressive horses, balls being tossed around, make sure he learns good habits.
The History
Basic History:
Dev was born on a farm with a nice breeder that actually did care quite a bit about her horses. As a colt, he grew with the breeder there and her kids everyday as they lived on the farm as well. Dev quickly fell in love with the owner’s children, though they weren’t careful about owning him. The breeder was actually quite new at her job, and didn’t exactly know what she was doing. After many attempts at trying to raise a very quick growing horse, she realized she had to sell her beautiful little now nearly grown up horse. At first no one wanted to buy the animal, so she hired a trainer and trained him in eventing. After he had won a few shows with the trainer, the owner put him up once more. Many attempted to buy, but none of their offers were even close to comparison with Avery’s grandmother. The woman wanted the best animal for her daughter and the breeder wanted the best owner for her horse. She soon bought him and sent him off to go and live with Avery. He has just arrived at the school now, where Avery will just see him for the first time. He is her first horse.
