"How. Do. You. Get. So. Dirty!?" The girl asked miserably as she scrubbed at the bay varnish roan's growing winter coat. Well, the horse wasn't a varnish roan at the moment, instead, sugar looked more of a mud-color.. everywhere. Her stomach, back, sides, legs, neck, face... mane and tail... and then there were the burs... She had burs everywhere in her mane and tail and forelock... matted it all together in a wad...
Bronnie had shown up ready to ride the mare that afternoon after classes were over only to find her in the pasture, her blanket ripped to shreds and literally hanging off her body in pieces (said blanket was laying outside the wash-rack now) and the mare covered head to hoof in mud and cuckleburs and hitchhikers. The girl had almost had a heart attack upon seeing the horse, and had immediately abandoned her plans to ride. She couldn't ride with the horse so filthy... sooo... to the wash rack they went.
"You're filthy! This isn't even coming off! I know it rained the other day, but... and your blanket! I just bought that for you! Sugar, stay here." Bronwyn stressed the last word and ran out of the wash area to the tack room in the barn, where she grabbed several extra bathing brushes, shampoo, nad conditioner before hastening back. "This mud isn't just washing off with a rinse, girl." She told the horse, settling the stuff down and wiping a hand across her face to get her blonde hair out of her eyes. The movement left a muddy streak across her face, though she didn't notice. "So... you're getting a bath."

Mud is the only word that came across Ellie's brain as she took one look at the red roan that was standing in the pasture looking at her waiting for her to come get him. She couldn't even believe her eyes Red didn't even look red he looked more like a bay and it didn't fit his huge Quarter horse body to well. She shook her head as she ran the cotton lead rope in her hand as she climb through the fence and whistled. Red pricked his ears up and came trotting toward the fence and as he got closer it seemed to get worse. She couldn't do nothing but shake her head at him. What did you do to yourself? She asked in a chuckle as she clipped the lead to the mud cursted halter. All she could do was shake her head at Red and knew where they was going next before anything else happened.
Ellie stopped at the barn before making her way to the washracks to grab Red's bathing supplies.Ellie couldn't help but chuckle when she notice someone else in the wash racks with their filthy horse aswell.I see you ain't the only one who decide to play in the mud today. She said loudly for the other girl to hear and she walked him into the wash rack beside the other girl. Ellie already her fire red hair pulled back in a ponytail as she got the water to warm up as it was little chilly outside. Red picked his head up and nickered toward the other horse next to them as she began getting the soap and water mixed together so it would be ready after she curried all the clumps out of his coat.

Bronwyn was at a loss. She was so… she just didn't know what to tackle first; the mud or the burs. The girl was ready to tear her hair out, as she knew, she just knew that picking the burs out of Sugar's mane and tail was going to take time, but also rip pieces of hair out… hair that she'd spent years growing out, as Sugar had the typical Appaloosa mane and tail… thin. As the girl walked around her mare, eyeing the calm horse in disgust, she sighed. She couldn't see hardly any of the mare's varnished coat. It was going to take hours to bathe her…
Bronnie sighed again and grabbed a sweat scraper. The metal was ideal for loosening mud, though it caused it to puff up in little clouds and get everywhere… but at this point, Bronwyn could see no other way of getting the bigger clumps mostly groomed out before bathing the horse. She'd work on the bur's after brushing as much mud off as she could. As she got started with the scraper, she heard the comment from the other girl and glanced over, eyes widening slightly upon seeing the other horse. He or she was almost as filthy as Sugar… "Yeah…" She spoke up once the other horse was in the wash-rack beside the one Sugar was in. "Sugar here decided to get filthy right before our ride… did you see the blanket?" Bronwyn indicated the ripped-to-shreds blanket she'd tossed outside the wash-rack. It was definitely in no condition to even be mendable and would have to be thrown away. "Oh, I'm sorry! I'm Bronwyn." She exclaimed a moment later as she realized she hadn't introduced herself and she didn't know the other girl.

Ellie chuckle as she looked behind her and saw the blanket that was ripped-to-shreds and shook her head.Wow, she must have several itches. She giggled when Red rubbed her his dirty head. She looked over to the appy in the next wash rack and shook her head. Red nickered toward the other horse and pawed the cement floor. Ellie thumped him on the leg alittle to get him to stop pawing at the ground as she tried to get most of the muddy clumps off the gelding.
Ellie stopped what she was doing and smiled at the girl who had introduced herself as Bronwyn. It's fine. I'm Eloise, but call me Ellie. She said with a slight chuckle as she began to work on the mud clumped mane. After several minutes Ellie knew she wasn't getting anywhere and grabbed the waterhose and turned to warm water and grabbed a hard brush to start working the loosen dirt out and get the clumps out of his red roan coat.

"Yeah, must have... but she still destroyed a brand new blanket to the point that it's not fixable." Bronnie said, though her voice was tinged in amusement now. She really wasn't upset with the mare. Sugar had just been doing what was natural to her. Bronwyn shrugged to herself and continued brushing the horse with the sweat scraper, though, upon thinking about it, she set it down and grabbed a shedding blade instead. It would probably work a little bit better, though both items worked well for getting mud off that was caked on. "My friends call me 'Bronnie'." She mentioned offhandedly, letting Ellie know she could also call her by that name. "So, are you pretty new here as well? I am."
Bronwyn finally scraped as much mud as she knew she was going to get off the mare and turned the water on, feeling it with her hand and getting it warm, but not hot. The girl took a moment to fix the sprayer to 'shower' and started the process of soaking the mare. She was very careful around the face, but Sugar stood still and let Bronwyn soak her face as well as her entire body, sometihng Bronnie was thankful for. After soaking the horse completely, the blonde girl grabbed the horses shampoo and a bathing brush/sponge and, starting at the neck, slowly began lathering the mare up... the shampoo suds turning a reddish brown color as the mud finally began breaking up and coming off the varnished roan coat.
