Lukas sighed as he once again tied his mare outside the clinic. She had improved only slightly with the herbs he'd been told to try last time he'd been to the place, but only sligtly wasn't much of an improvement when the horse couldn't hardly walk for pain still.
He'd spent the last few weeks doing a lot of thinking... and he'd shed more than a few tears upon the realization that he was truly doing worse by his mare, keeping her alive. Two weeks of deep thinking and re-evaluating her quality of life, and he didn't like what he'd come to find out.
The instructor figured he must have known it all along, as it didn't come as much of a shock, but still, that didn't make the emotional pain any less. He was a wreck and he knew it. Lukas hadn't slept well for days, and he hadn't ate well for longer than that, lost in misery. His tanned complexion was pale, and he was tired. Hair unkempt and he looked several years older than his young age... he'd never thought he'd be faced with such a decision, and it killed him inside to have to make it. He'd spent several days alone, just standing in Holly's stall with her.
The man opened the door to the vet clinic and stepped inside, filling out the papers again, for the second time, before stepping back and gazing miserably out the window, staring at his mare for what he knew was going to be her last day alive. He'd made the decision to have her put down. It was best for her, he knew... but still, it hurt so much...
